Please let's be factual when we say things.

The only European teams Ghana has ever beaten are Serbia and Czech Republic. While they have never beaten any South American team.

But as for Nigeria, for Europe we have beaten: Bulgaria 2X, Greece, Spain, Scotland, France, Bosnia and Luxemburg. While for South America we have beaten Argentina 2X.
we find european countries easy to play unlike the South Americans,Germany should b the the most difficult eauropean country for us to beat,we should pray to avoid them at early stages.

We've never been defeated by Asians
Against South Korea it ended 2-2
Against Iran (The Persians) it ended goalless
Only place we've defeated them was at the Olympics male soccer games 4-3 it ended against Japan
If memory serves me right those are the two we've faced from the Asian continent.

Blackburn rovers,Everton and Portsmouth all celebrated Yakubu on his retirement... I hope the NFF will honour him by organizing a testimonial match for him. (Make the fans sha no stone him grin grin). I strongly believe that if he had stayed longer with the super eagles after the 2010 world cup,he could have broken Yekini's record.. He (along with IK uche and Obagoal) was our best striker back then though wasteful..

96 EPL goal no be beans....

Below is the list of the highest scoring Nigerians in the premier league...

1) Yakubu Aiyebgeni - 96 goals
2) Nwankwo Kanu - 54 goals
3) Shola Ameobi - 43 goals
4) Osaze Odemwinge - 36 goals
5) Obafemi Martins- 28 goals
6) Victor Anichebe- 27 goals

Haha.. No need to tell me sir, I witnessed it all.

Those days we didn't have a super Eagles thread on nairaland, we only had a black stars thread and they barely discussed soccer, all they did was insult Nigeria.

Guys like naijanoni, collynzo, adamskuti etc and the ever present safarigirl always met them word for word.
Only God knows where that thread is today. I don't miss them sha

Ow that their black stars thread hahaha. Couldn't stand the test of time. Immediately Ghana lost to Egypt in Cairo they abandoned it finally.

Iran keh!..
Our game against Iran in 2014 was voted as one of the most boring game of the year... The Iranians were too defensive against us and Argentina....

News coming from the Confederation of African Football is that new dates for the 2019 CAF African Cup of Nations qualifiers have been released.

The new dates are related to the second round of 2019 AFCON qualifiers after CAF opted to postpone all the round’s fixtures last Thursday.

After losing their first qualifier against Tunisia, Egypt were set to face Niger in Alexandria in March 2018 in the second round of the qualifiers, but the date has been rescheduled by CAF.

Following the committee meeting last Thursday in Rabat in Morocco, CAF took the decision of postponing the second round matches to give teams that have qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup a chance to prepare for the tournament.

The new dates for the second round have been moved from March to 3-11 September 2018, with the third and fourth rounds taking place on October 8-16 2018.

Furthermore, the fifth round has been moved one month forward to take place between 12-20 November 2018 instead of October, while the final round will take place between 18-26 March 2019.

On the other hand, CAF has also decided to move the 2019 African Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.

It will now be staged between June and July instead of January and February for the first time as teams have also been increased from 16 to 24.

Stoke City Join Race To Sign Ighalo

Gold Usenekong

Premier League side Stoke City have shown interest to sign Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo, from Chinese Super League club Changchun Yatai, Completesportsnigeria.com report’s.

Ighalo was part of the Watford side that won promotion to the Premier League in 2015 – then scored 15 goals in his Premier League debut season in the 2015/2016 league campaign.

But the following season, Ighalo struggled to replicate his form in the previous campaign, scoring once in 17 games before joining CSL club Changchun Yatai on January 31, 2017.

According to Stoke Sentinel, Stoke City have joined the likes of Southampton, Everton and West Ham in showing interest to sign Ighalo following his impressive performance for Changchun where he scored 15 goals in 27 league appearances in the just concluded season.

Crystal Palace and West Brom were interested in signing him last season, but were put off by the Watford’s huge financial demands.

Ighalo is currently in Nigeria getting set to launch his new orphanage home with the date on December 16 in Ijegun, Lagos.

The former Granada striker played a key role in helping the Super Eagles qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

He however missed the Eagles’ last match in the 2018 World Cup African qualifying Group B against Algeria which ended 1-1 due to injury. He was also absent when Nigeria beat Argentina 4-2 in an international friendly Match on November 14.

is it good thing for Ighalo to come back to EPL?
when u consider his fat wages and his form he has been able rediscover in China, plus he plays better for us since he went to China,i don't think he should go back to EPL,

mind you Nigeria has been to the World Cup 5X while Ghana has made just three appearances yet you are here talking trash. when are you going to make it to the quarter finals?
someone said that ignorance is to ignore something, but i insist is a lack of knowledge, but i've been tempted to agree with the person.
i mean u were not aware what IK Uche did to Evra and d French team some time ago or did u choose to ignore something?

SUPER REGULAR: Ndidi Set For 30th EPL Start In 30 Games

Gold Usenekong

By Dare Esan: Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is set to make his 30th start in 30 Premier League games tonight at the London Stadium where his club Leicester City will face West Ham United.

Ndidi has started all Premier League games he played since he made his debut in the Foxes’ 3-0 loss to Chelsea on January 14 at the King Power Stadium following his switch from Belgian top flight side Genk during the last winter transfer window.

The Nigerian who won Leicester’s young player of the year award at the end of his first season in England last summer started all 17 games he played in the league for the former EPL champions last season.

This term, and despite the change in manager from Craig Shakespeare to Claude Puel, Ndidi has played and started all 12 EPL games played by Leicester and, barring any last minute injury, looks set to make his 30th appearance in the most competitive and lucrative league in the on Friday night.

Ndidi, who has scored twice in the competition since he moved over from Belgium, will hope to lead Leicester City to victory against David Moyes’ side to at least ensure he bridges the gap between the wins and losses the club recorded in the games he featured in.

Leicester have lost 13 and won 10 in the 29 games Ndidi has featured in since last January.
While Ndidi is seeking to continue in his 100 per cent run for the Foxes, his compatriots Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho will be hoping for a change in their fortunes.

Musa who has appeared 21 times in the league since he joined from CSKA Moscow last season is yet to feature in the club’s matchday squad for the league this term while Iheanacho has started only two of the nine games he has played in the league for the club following his summer transfer from Manchester City.

Before entering that thread you had to wear a protective helmet, a bullet proof vest, hold a shield, and rock a military boot.

And even at that, you still had to duck when entering.

Not possible in the group stage as we're all in pots 4 except in the round of 16.
The only possibility of facing them next year would come in a friendly or at the round of 16 at the WC.

Do not write-off or give-up on the young man. He got carried away with the money he was getting. I still see him picking himself up and making the best out of the situation he is in now. He got a good motivation to spur him to try hard in Richarlison.

He reminds me of French Senegalese striker Magaye Gueye, who had clear outstanding ability.

But groove and the pursuit of babes left his motivation at zero level. He went from Everton to Millwall didn't really cut it and now he is in the backwaters of the Turkish league.

Surprisingly doing well in Turkey playing for Adanaspor.

Reputation once earned very hard to shake off. and if you are not in the field performing you will be forgotten. A season of doing nothing is not good you will be forgotten two seasons and you are archived.

The loan option may be best for him to revive his career.

Going on loan seems an easy way out. I say he slugs it out with Richarlison. Success should train to work harder and run faster on the pitch than Richarlison. If he achieves such work rate, I sort Marco Silva will pass on him. The most important thing is the work to get himself at an optimum level.

Success has already done well in Spain. Going back there will not prove much of a challenge compared to matching the intensity of the EPL. Success should adapt to the intensity, drop weight and work on increasing his speed.

If he can match Richarlison, he is ready for play and Marco Silva will give him his chance.
