Good afternoon house, I applied for an undergraduate program in university of Winnipeg for my brother that just finished secondary school. Thankfully, he received his admission letter after 2 weeks. The tuition fee per year is stated as 8,650 Canadian dollar but he is not required to pay till he registers in Canada. He was given an option to pay 1000 tuition deposit. However, in case he doesn't study in the school, the deposit is not refundable. What is his chances of applying for study permit without paying d deposit. cos am not in support of paying for the deposit and the application is refused, then we lose a whopping 1000 Canadian dollar. Thanks for the help |

vibrant99:Before you make these considerations, one important thing to ascertain is if the certification is obtainable in Nigeria. This is where it will even start from(from the VO's perspective). If it is not, then you will have to convince officers why you can't do it else where aside Canada and why you have to do it in Canada considering the expenses and the duration of the program. It will be from that considerations that you will proceed. Aside this, i'm afraid you risk your application to be refused on your purpose of visit even though you may not have to apply for a study permit. |

Austinpee4:Thank you so Much for the prompt Reply. Firstly, I said it is a Scholarship i won. This means that out of over 1 million people who applied for this program , There only 22 seats every year for this program, and i was selected. There was a written Essay, relevant documents were submitted, Qualifications submitted and CVs. I feel this isn't just someone who got an easy ride, Isn't The VO seeing it from that perspective? Secondly, you can't do the Certification anywhere in the world except as a Masters Program. (permit me to keep this program a secret). It is a program that cost over 16k CAD. The questions you said the VO could pose are not very sturdy, as it answers itself. (SCHOLARSHIP). The only expenses here is paying for the Flight and my own personal Expenses. I have not been to any Embassy B4, i don't know how they do anything there, so am just considering using an agent , but on a second thought, I am trying to see if anyone here can help. 1 Like |

Please , I really need advice and direction. Am 28yrs and waec is my highest level since I left high school in 2008. Recently, I got admitted into Canadian college, please what are my chances of getting a study permit. To be honest, travel agents have really discouraged me with their 'you have pass the age limit '. Please guys, what should I do at this point?? |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Austinpee4: 4:35pm On Nov 25, 2017 |
vibrant99:Firstly, congratulations on the award of scholarship. You see, the issue here is really not about the scholarship but about you being able to convince the VO that you will indeed complete your course and leave Canada. So the onus lies on you squarely to satisfy the officer that completing the certification is your primary motive and also why you have to get it in Canada, how it would improve your current circumstance and that your will leave Canada(this is actually the most important). They are largely not really interested in how you got the scholarship(You can use this to you advantage in convincing them though) or how much your program cost but must be convinced you will obey the conditions that will be imposed on your temporary stay during your program, can sustain yourself and will depart Canada at the end of your authorized stay should your visa be approved. You can get your TRV approved if you satisfactory convince them. Considering the short term nature of your certification and also considering you won't need to apply for a study permit, you will have to do a good job answering their unending questions of 'WHY'. The onus is on you. Lastly, you won't have to go to the embassy. All processing and documentation are submitted at VFS also know as Canadian Visa application center(CVAC). You can find out more info about them here https://www.vfsglobal.ca/canada/nigeria/index.html 3 Likes |

vibrant99:Ofcos! Having your kids and spouse in Nigeria are good home ties! Anyway, I only helped you see things from a perspective especially regarding your purpose of visit and all that surrounds it. However, these are my asseveration and purview. At the end, it still would be your call. Regards. 1 Like |

Austinpee4: Please, I would like to send an email body to you to help me review, it's for my sis she wants to send to a lecturer at Usask (MSc Supervisor). I promised her that one of the gurus on Nairaland will help review it before she sends it. I sent a request to you already. Thanks |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Austinpee4: 5:34pm On Nov 25, 2017 |
sleekysoft:Hmmmm. Confidential things scares me o Don't you thing we should atleast find a way to share it here so others in similar situation can benefit or so you get a different opinion about it? I would think this also is the aim of this thread. This is what i feel. Well, if it is something you cannot share here or about your SOP, you can send a PM but if it still bothers around applications and all, i will still refer you here for the sake of others. Regards. |

akmog: Hello akmog, what's this letter of introduction about? I didn't get any. I only got a mail from the Embassy asking me to check my cic account for the message they sent. That was how I found the approval message . Are we expected to get a letter from them other than the visa? What is the importance of this letter? Must we travel with it? |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Penielfav: 7:12pm On Nov 25, 2017 |
Nogen: Hi Nogen and Akmog, the answer to your question is Yes. There’s a letter that accompanies the TRV you’re issued. That’s what’s required at the POE for the issuance of your Study Permit and yes, you must travel with it, it’s mandatory. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Ope100(m): 7:21pm On Nov 25, 2017 |
I'm guessing you are both Online applicants. The letter should be in your CIC account, I received mine in my CIC account just after picking up my passport at VFS last week. Here's a link showing you need the letter at point of entry http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-arriving.asp Nogen: 1 Like |

Nogen: The letter of introduction is require at the point of entry in Canada, the officer there will request for it and the visa. Normally it should be in our cic account but I don't know why it was not uploaded there. 1 Like |
