oloriooko:I think this is a thread we all gather to share ideas and the only way is to make valid and cogent analysis. Truly Rohr w not come here to read but i believe a lot read our comments to gather information. I believe you are trying to say the defence is not good enough and guys have been asking you simple question, what did you suggest but your reply was Rohr is being paid to do the job then why commenting on the team if Rohr is pay to do the job,no need of saying the team is bad,let leave everything for Rohr and see the outcome at the WC. I want to give brief history of Nigeria WC team starting from US 94 and defence w be our major talking points. I love to use US 94 team as an example cos they still remain the best.In defence we have two slow CB in Okechukwu and Nwanu with average Uche Okafor and half fit Keshi deputising, our fullbacks were average Eguavoen, Ben Iroha,Mike Emenalo who was playing then Sunday Sunday football Nigeria version in Europe and India man Emeka Ezeugu, this defence conceded 4 goals. I want to tell you that our US 94 defenders like Uche Okafor,Mike Emenalo,Emeka Ezeugu will not make this present team at this stage not even WC proper.Guys like Shehu Abdullahi,Ebuhei,Bryan Idowu,Ola Aina would give Eguavoen tough time before he can make this team,i will rate Ben Iroha slightly ahead of our present fullbacks, also Nwanu and Okechukwu ahead of our present CBs cos of experience. The France 98 team that have solid defence with the presence of Okechukwu,Taribo,Babayaro,Oparaku,Godwin Opara,Iroha,Eguavoen and Okafor conceded whopping 9 goals while 2014 WC team with rookies like Omeruo,Oboboana,Oshaniwa,Ambrose,Egwueke,Odunlami and experience Yobo conceded 5 goals, pls can you rate 2014 WC team with this present team. Please let's give respect to this team, this is a team with Akpeyi and Ezenwa in goal conceded just two goals from open play,so what a fuss. I don't want to talk on Morocco cos recently we beat Argentina who are far ahead and better than Morocco. 6 Likes |

Kog45:I appreciate your analysis you try sha Am not disrespecting the team cuz I don't know what I have said yo disrespect a team that topped the most proposed difficult team to qualify for the WC Beating Argentina in a friendly is no where near meeting same team at the WC What am saying is that Rohr is paid to build us a team so let him do just that seeing that our weakest poit is the defence and I know Rohr knows about this. No one is taking away the hard work the team has put into qualifying but that is history now, the best is yo focus on the WC and build a formidable defence which is pur weakest point |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Mujtahida: 5:04pm On Nov 26, 2017 |
Icon4s:Doesn't explain anything. I mentioned three players from different nationalities. I really don't get your point. And its not necessarily a Neymar or Messi or Ronaldo thing. I could as well have mentioned other players but my point is why can't we produce players of such distinguished caliber. At least Liberia had George Weah. |

Icon4s:'Because we are Nigeria' is a parable I cannot decode in this context. Pray tell, what does it mean? Or does it mean because we are Nigeria we cannot produce excellence like Neymar or Ronaldo or Messi? I don't understand. |

oloriooko:Yet they faced a more superior team than Maroc and showed mettle against a Cameroon team. Did you know Cameroon beat and outplayed Maroc when they met before the confederations cup? Guy leave talk, that defence can be worked on into being a solid one (the biggest room known is the room for improvement). Give them kudos bruh, if they are yet to convince you my brother I'm convinced beyond doubt. 1 Like |

oloriooko:Good let's talk football cos initially you are just saying Rohr is pay to do the job. Yes truly we beat Argentina in a friendly which is good for the confidence of the team meaning the team is working. On the defence, truly works need to be done just like other departments of the game or do you want to say Argentina team will discard their defence cos of the lost against Nigeria. My man the defence is growing and before WC you will see a better and solid defence which everyone would be proud of I will not deceive you i don't see any defender out there that is better than what we have now or do you see anyone cos you are finding it difficult to suggest a name.My man there is none for now and if Rohr see he w not hesitate to call hmm.I believe with what is available Rohr should be able to give us the best. |

oloriooko:If a stranger reads your comments and your word on 'overhauling' the defence. He'd think that the defence is whack, he'd think that the defence has conceded an avalanche of goals. Readers here know that the defence is not whack. That's why they are surprised at how you call for a sweeping(that's what overhaul means) of the defence. Rohr knows that the defence needs improvement, needs reinforcement. |

Mujtahida: Pep saw more future in Gabriel Jesus with City ahead of Iheanacho even before Jesus kicked a ball for City. Why? Jesus is a BRAZILIAN while Iheanacho is a NIGERIAN. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by oloriooko(m): 5:28pm On Nov 26, 2017 |
Kog45:Seem the word overhaul is being misunderstood here Overhaul means to look at every part of (something) and repair or replace the parts that do not work : to change (something) completely in order to improve it No one is saying totally discard but Rohr needs to work his sox off if he wants to make impact at the WC Nigeria should stop completing the square at WCs. Its high time we made serious statement at the WC Rohr should justify his pay |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Mujtahida: 5:29pm On Nov 26, 2017 |
tbaba1234:The question is do we even produce players with that superlative level of potential? As in pure football geniuses before talking of the opportunity to reach the maxim limits of their potentials? See Argentina produced a Maradona and now a Messi, Brazil produced Pele, Ronaldo de Lima Ronaldinho, Neymar. France produced Zidane. I am thinking why can't we produce a player that can win the best footballer in the world. Is it as simple as saying it boils down to the 'Nigerian factor'? |

Mujtahida:Seem you getting me wrong cuz overhaul means to look at every part of (something) and repair or replace the parts that do not work : to change (something) completely in order to improve it I can see many Rohr defenders on this thread and I think its cuz its been long the SE did anything worth celebrating so this singular act of qualification is like the hope to many Nigerians but we must not fail to point out their flaws 1 Like |

Icon4s:I still don't understand ooo. Are you suggesting bias against our players? Is that the reason we've not had players in the ilk of the greatest? I hope I will not be read as denigrating the long stellar army of excellent players we have produced over the years. Another variant of the question I posed earlier is: why can't we win the World Cup? Would it answer such a question if someone were to say 'Because we are Nigeria'? Undisputable excellence is what I am looking at here. My initial question was prompted in my heart just now as I watched Neymar. I could as well watch Germany celebrating their WC win in 2014 and ask if Germany, why not Nigeria? 1 Like |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Mujtahida: 5:42pm On Nov 26, 2017 |
oloriooko:The problem was the Word overhaul. In my mind and I believe in the mind of others in the context you used it, it meant doing away with the defence we have now. Of course every part of the team needs critical assessment. I don't think the coach is so blind not to realise that. No one is defending Rohr. Your criticism was at large. At least now I understand you and I agree with you. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Mujtahida: 5:48pm On Nov 26, 2017 |
tbaba1234:I trust you know that Argentina and Brazil were in the same category as we and I don't think their footballing structures were better than ours during all the years they produced top top talents. Only now has Brazil lifted itself economically and her league too along. I get your point though. I just wish we have the very best out there. |

Its very amazing how no one is mentioning agbo here, dude scored today, i am still amaze how he has never featured in a game for us but rohr keep inviting him, that dude has been a starter from granada even though they were relegated and he is still starting for standard liege. I know when he breaks into the squad he will be difficult to bench. |
