you are more dynamic when you can choose any formation and you have the personnel to execute. That's what Rohr has in mind. Changing tactics just because of a lack in the team is limiting the possibilities, especially when it's best to play against an opponent a specific way. Mujtahida: 1 Like |

Mujtahida: I wrote a lot about this on the BBC forum, before Guardiola even started doing it. I talked of Evra playing as a midfielder for Manchester United and people criticized it. Now Guardiola during when City are under pressure or during build-up plays has his full backs drifting into midfield. I criticized the Buying of Berbatov because I believed his arrival will disrupt the fluidity of the forward line Rooney and Tevez brought to Manchester United. 2007/2008/2009 period. It is just like watching my ideologies bearing fruits when I watch or read about Guardiola. |

I hope the Anderlecht coach takes the step to give Onyekuru a shot in the nine role. Give him a run of games there. I believe the coach will be shocked. Dries Mertens did not have the build or attributes of a top striker. Today, he is one of the top rated players in the game playing the striker role. |

Joebie:5 shots on target, 4 goals. Yes it was a friendly but let me say this :Joebie do you know that Argentina were doing what I hate the most- passing the ball sideways in the attacking third(kinda tiki taka style of play) but we were very direct and incisive. That's my kinda style - Jupp Heynckes Champions league winning Bayern team style of play. 3 Likes |

Former Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo has joined Monaco as their new sporting director. The Ligue 1 side confirmed the appointment on Monday afternoon and said that the 52-year-old will take charge of all sporting matters at the club, who currently sit in third place in the French top-flight standings. Emenalo only resigned from his position as Chelsea's technical director on 6 November, citing a desire to spend more time with his young family as one reason why he left the post he had occupied since 2011. But he will now report to Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev in his new role of sporting director at the club. Emenalo, who spent a decade at Chelsea, said of his decision to join Monaco: "It is a magnificent opportunity for me in a high-quality project. "AS Monaco has shown a great evolution in the past few seasons and I am convinced that the club will keep being successful. "Vadim Vasilyev convinced me to join AS Monaco and I believe this is the right choice for me after my decision to leave Chelsea. "I will work here with humility and try my best to bring my experience in this club which is a reference of French and European football." Emenalo first joined Chelsea in October 2007 alongside Avram Grant and, under Carlo Ancelotti, he was tasked with the aim of heading up opposition scouting and acting as a first-team coach. He was handed the role of technical director in 2011 and was charged with the task of overseeing player recruitment and managing the club's academy and youth networks. And his success at convincing the likes of Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois and N'Golo Kante to join Chelsea played a big role in Monaco vice-president Vasilyev handing Emenalo one of the top jobs at the club. He said: "I have been following Michael Emenalo’s work for a long time and I am very happy to have him here after he chose to quit Chelsea. "His know-how in scouting network, as well as the technical skills he developed working in one of the most successful clubs in the world in the past few years, are the main reasons leading us to present him our ambitious challenge. "Through this appointment, it is a further sign that we are ambitious and competitive in our model. https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/michael-emenalo-joins-monaco-as-sporting-director-after-leaving-chelsea-a3703116.html 4 Likes |

Good point. It's a tactic I use when playing PS. The less your opponent has the ball the less opportunities they have. We showed character, and if we meet a similar situation at the WC, we will know just what to do. Mujtahida: |

Mujtahida: You know, it depends on the set-up. We were compact when the Argentines had the ball. In that case, they have to work the ball with passes. In our case, the Argentines doing those passes will require more personnel to break our defence. This in turn created gaps for us to exploit during counters. |

TheGoodJoe:It's total football Bro. It's older than Guardiola, older than you. Rinus Michels and Johann Cruyff reworked earlier ideas of total football that was already in existence as far back as the first twenty years of the 1900. The Dutch team of 1974 WC popularised it. It was Johann Cruyff who took it to Barcelona during his coaching stint there and obviously that's where Guardiola picked it up from and is now reworking the philosophy just as Rinus Michels and Cruyff once did. |

krattoss: Thunder Fire Babylonians. Now the work begins. A big congrats to Emenalo. Now the work begins to groom some fantastic ball players with a fantastic style of play. I will never forget the project that involved the likes of Hazard, Oscar, Mata, De Bruyne, Lukaku, David Luiz, Courtois, Schurlle, later Quadrado and Salah. Emenalo was up to something with those players and the time has come to do it again. I expect a busy summer for Monaco. Congrats to Emenalo. 3 Likes |

Mujtahida: It was total football but no one till Guardiola was doing it. So saying Michels did it does not change the point that during Guardiola's time it was strange. I believed it could work in the Modern game, not 1974. Guardiola proved it right. By the way, I was playing with the idea before Guardiola pulled it off. That is my point. Not Rinus Michels. |

TheGoodJoe: Na wa ooooo! Onyekuru can't be my No 9 - Anderlecht coach blasts - NAIJA PLAYERS ABROAD By: Linus Onyeze | 25/11/2017 Anderlecht coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck has told Super Eagles striker Henry Onyekuru he cannot play as the top striker for the team. Onyekuru has been suggested as an alternative to Lukasz Teodorcyzk in the No 9 role, as the Poland striker has failed to fire this season after he finished as joint top scorer with the Nigerian in the Belgian top flight last season. But the Anderlecht coach, who has offered the Nigeria star the chance to lead the attack on a number of occasions, but says it has not worked out as Onyekuru does not have the right movement. “No, he cannot play that (top striker) in the system with one top striker,” said Vanhaezebrouck. “I have tried that a couple of times, but he has not been up to it. “He does not have the right movement for that position. He thinks he can do it, but he does not know where to position himself. “But if he plays from the flank, he could still get to the top of the attack a few times.” https://www.google.com.ng/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjj3Ky-k93XAhVQEewKHSj3C_MQFggmMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Ffcnaija.com%2Fonyekuru-cant-be-my-no-9--anderlecht-coach-blasts&usg=AOvVaw2KYweo8chaKGCYrZ2SMn5z |

Mujtahida: A lot of teams have nullified Messi with compact play. I think his impact would have made it more difficult for us but still overrated. A compact system is hard to deal with. Even with Ronaldinho and Messi playing against it. See how difficult Huddersfield was for City yesterday. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 6:33pm On Nov 27, 2017 |
forgiveness: Is that what you are saying I should re-read the article? I say that, that was why I said the coach is talking about movement. Which I feel it is due to the coach's narrow idea of how the game should be played. He wants Onyekuru to play a particular way. Hence Onyekuru does not play that way, he feels Onyekuru is not up to it. I disagree with the coach to give Onyekuru a run in the role. See the result, then judge. I doubt the trying the coach is even talking about is a full game. Probably towards the end of the game. |
