Not surprised a western high tech military defense system fails again. sad

I remember reading in a book entitled New Armies from Old about post-civil war militaries that Zimbabwe received over £12 million worth of weaponry from North Korea in 1981 and 1982. Most of this apparently went to the army's then-newly established 5th Brigade.

I assume that's how this particular MG ended up there; 5th Brigade has been disbanded but surely there are other examples either still in active service or in reserve storage.
Though North Korean-supplied, the 81/82 weapons were Chinese made. Hence the rarity of a MG, made in NK, in 1968. A time when NK relied heavily on China-supplied weapons.

Russia makes the best air defense systems just like America makes the best fighter jets. S400 can shoot down about anything airborne (allegedly).

surprised that you somehow left out the part where it has continually shot down tons of rockets from Yemenis Houthies rebels.

no SAM is 100% potent but the Patriot is 100% trusted by its users.

they launched 4 patriot missiles for a single tactical ballistic missile!that really shows how much confidence they have with the patriot defence system. saudi haven't being open about how effect the patriot has being, considering there is foreign media blackout on coverage inside saudi

Well its an aging system, with a priority contract out for its replacement, and it was used by.... Saudis.

Patriot is the next to be replaced - their focus was on fulling an (unrelated) capacity gap with THAAD, now its MEADS (Patriot Replacement). Long term goal is to replace AEGIS, but they first need to find a ship design to put it in. Zumwalt class was supposed to be a complete solution with potential for the BMD role (Ballistic Missile Defence), but believe it or not it was too expensive to re-code the Zumwalts Total Ship Computing Environment Infrastructure (TSCEI) to full the AEGIS role.

Its tough to accept just how far ahead of us the major powers are...

operationally, SAMS are usually fired in pairs or sometimes up to four against a single target to increase hit probability. it has nothing to do with the efficacy of the system.

The MIM-104 has once hit a $200 dollar commercial drone (Dji phantom type) from a distant. admittedly pretty impressive that the Patriot’s radar was able to pick up and direct the missile to successfully destroy such a small object.

you cant say this all russian air defense systems are designed also for cruise missiles (S400, S300, Buk , Tor , pantsir .. ) and some systems are designed specifically to protect long range air defense systems against low flying cruise missiles and smart guided bombs

give me the link that states you should fire a salvo of missiles against a single missile target .i doubt any system will be unable to track a stationary target, considering a tactical ballistic missile during its terminal phase will be descending at mach + speeds

Even Ground Based Interceptors are just a few dozen in number, and multiple salvos of multiple missiles will be fired at a real target in an operational engagements

"The use of multiple shots, timed ever-more-closely together, appears destined to rehearse saturating a defensive system by presenting it with an overwhelmingly complex radar picture," Joshua Pollack, editor of the U.S.-based Nonproliferation Review, said of Monday's launch.

You know this is bs right, the Patriot system was designed with Iraqi and Iranian Scud type ballistic missiles in mind and has been found wanting for almost 2 decades. The Saudi's are using the upgraded PAC-3 Patriot SAM, so its either they lack technical ability to operate the systems or the US sold them knock offs like all superpowers do these days including Russia/China with there inferior export versions but I guess its both.

How will they replace AEGIS when they recently tested the latest SM-3 missiles on there Arleigh Burks for Korean Peninsula deployment. This is the exact reason behind Turkey's lack of confidence in western SAM's apart from politics.

Don't have the money to buy missiles we won't need. All so they can guided the frigates anti ship missliels.

Though if we ever needed to we could get ASM or even torpedoes for our helicopters. They are what we call fitted for but not with.

Multiple missiles attacking one target is like 1980's tech bro

The Russians have a ASM from the 1980's that has basic "swarm" technology - the missiles link up in flight, assess the enemy fleet composition, caculate priority targets and can even alter flight patterns as a diversion (some could go high to draw fire away from the rest).

I think its Granit, not sure though

America system focuses on missiles while Russian system can shoot down about anything airborne thus the comparison that Russian systems which are more universal are better than American systems which are more specific.

While the US/Nato has focused on offensive weapons mainly air superiority and force projection, the Russians with limited resources focused on defensive systems especially in the sphere of mobile layered air defense systems Long/Medium/Short range missiles, this is a fact looking at each of there military doctrines of the past 40 years.

just saying IMO north korean ICBMs r vulnerable , which no media is pointing to becz they want to build a war hysteria by portraying NK systems to be potent.

eg. did u see their tests , their ICBMs r liquid fuelled , which needs to fuelled prior to launch and then moved to launch location and then the missile off sited (separated from TEL) for launch.

too much time being spent here , thereby very vulnerable to prompt strikes
