Hmm highly informative.

Gernot Rohr needs to see this.

This Croatian team reminds me of the Bosnian team of 2014 WC that had Begovic, Kolasinach, Pjanic, Djeko and co. The team was stars studded in certain areas but was not balanced in strength of personal and we carried the day.

Same goes for the Bulgarian team of 1994: Stoichkov, Leichkov, Balakov, Siranov and all. Yet they chop Cain.

The strength of this Croatian team is in the midfield and so we can exploit the weaker areas.
With mikel playing in amf we can exploit thier weaknesses in terms of the holding midfielder they lack. Argentina have stronger defensive presence than Croatia and we still destroyed them, our strikers will probably hedge them physically but they have to be clinical on the day. Playing the recently used 3-5-2 might work IMO, counter looks like thier weakness.
Sometimes i think we underestimate the physical strength of our Nigerian players, when other countries talk about our physicality it's no joke, it's has been a very important part of all our games, we are top three in terms of physical strength in Africa also matched almighty Cameroon, I feel Zambia are one of the most physical teams Africa and we still edged them, that's an advantage we will use qualify from that group hopefully

Our nightmare is the goal keeping department. Uzoho is young and untested, Ezenwa is erratic, Akpenyi is a basket, Enyeama is unfit and clubless.

Did they not knock out England in the Euros?.

In theory, this like up can work if you move Mikel down to replace Ogu, then move Iwobi down to in place of Mikel, and put Ighalo in Iwobi's position. Those are the pros.

The con(s): Victor Moses doesn't play with the same discipline for the Super Eagles as he does for Chelsea. He might not track back to support the defence.
It doesn't make a lot of sense to deploy your best and most creative player as a wingback.

O pari

This is hilarious. Moses have been playing with discipline in team during the WCQ, and I think that is one of the good things that Rohr brought into this team. You see him tracking back and he was even the guy that dispossessed a Cameroonian player in our defense that lead to the counter attack that he scored. He has been disciplined under Rohr, and he would be better disciplined as a wing back.

And V. Moses as the “most creative player” in the team with Mikel and Iwobi? I will say that not many people share that opinion.

Iceland are planning a friendly with Indonesia national team and a select Indonesia Eleven in January, their last friendly was a 1-1 draw against Qatar in November.
If the friendly is scheduled for January, then they still have time to book friendlies with “better” teams.

Nigeria will not be playing until March except there is a change in plans.

Says who? You? Nacho needed to stay and learn. With time, he will adapt. Look at Delph and Mangala how much they have developed to suit the system. Unfortunately, Nacho felt a move would serve him better.

So it is not about not being good enough. Manchester City was not prepared to let Nacho go. Which means they felt he was good enough.

Guardiola never wanted Iheanacho again hence his request to sell him outrightly, instead of keeping him or sending him on loan.

Left to Iheanacho, he wanted to stay and fight for Shirt but it was Guardiola's decision to let him go.

The point is, Guardiola didn't consider Iheanacho good enough as a modern forward hence the need to let him go. EOD

We don't evem have a modern CF neither do we have a prolific traditional striker in the national team.

This was my point. With the very lethal counter I saw the 3-5-2 formation produced against Argentina, and also with the defensive stability it also provided, I think it should be used against teams like Croatia. This is one of the reasons why I want Moses to play as a WB because I don't want him to temper the good combination of Mikel-Iwob-Iheanacho with his selfish-like kind of play.

TheGoodJoe you should not be making this kind of comment.

Do you really expect Gary Neville to advocate for anything other than English players, come on. It does not matter what Gary thinks it's all noise, he can not influence Pep.

I remember when Rio Ferdinand expressed open displeasure at the unfair release of Pogba. What happened nothing.

I wish someone made noise when Victor Moses was left out repeatedly. Like joke like joke, Foden who played U17 this year has started a Champions League game for City.

Omo, I think you're mistaking the movement of the game (ball) with the speed of the individual players. Real Madrid plays a fast attacking football but this doesn't imply that players like Modric and Kovacic are speed stars, they just try to go with the flow and move the ball quickly. After all, this is the same midfield where Mesut Ozil excelled.

Bottom line, apples to apples, our midfielders are faster and stronger than the Croats. And you can prove this to yourself when we play them next June.

O pari

Enjoy this delicious meal which shows some of Kovacic's speed. Remember to wash the plates after you enjoy the meal. smiley

Mind you this team topped their group and also had good performance during Euro.Sometimes playing top friendlies is not a yardstick to good performance.

Personally i don't believe in grade A friendlies, our US 94 team did not really play any grade A matches even lost most of their friendlies but went on to put a good performance at WC.

We experimented a lot in the run up to USA 94. We played friendlies with several players that stood no chance of making the WC.

Friendlies are sometimes like that, you are trying out new players and systems.

Beat That, Messi! Real Madrid Ace Surprisingly Tops La Liga 16/17 Most Successful Dribblers' List

The 2016/17 campaign has been a source of consistent consternation for a fair number of Real Madrid's midfield stars - and Mateo Kovacic is certainly among their number.

The 22-year-old has had to vie with plenty of world class opposition for a place in Zinedine Zidane's starting lineup, and has only started 21 of the 35 appearances he has made so far this term.

Despite also only completing 90 minutes on 11 of those occasions, the Croatia international has performed admirably and, thanks to a statistic from WhoScored.com, it turns out Kovacic's ability to successfully take on players shoud mean he plays more often:

WhoScored.com
Mateo Kovacic: Of the 67 players to attempt 50+ dribbles in La Liga this season, Kovacic has the best success rate (80.3%)

That's quite a remarkable stat when you consider some of the finest footballers - such as Real team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona rival Lionel Messi - are also extremely adept at dribbling with the ball at their feet.

For Kovacic to be the most successful dribbler when compared to others who revel at taking on opposing players with their quick feet, deft touch and pace, it should be commended - and should really result in Zidane handing Kovacic a more regular starting berth in his sides for the rest of this term.

As much as a lot of people here might not agree with you on Moses being a right wing back on that formation, but you have a solid Point, Moses has a wing back for Nigeria will not only bring stability to our defense and make it impossible to break down and give us a more solid squad especially with idowu on the other wing, but again unfortunately he's he's the best attacker we have and rohr might not want him there also playing as a wing back would help us keep the ball a lot better under pressure, also he can always play a game where me moves forward a lot to dangerous effects while other cover for him.
i never considered it but with the recent success in the new formation, I feel Moses will serve better as a defensive shield for the defense, with iwobi and co who are less selfish than Moses doing thier thing upfront, and an unsuspected v Moses lurking around for a mistake. With Moses and idowu covering my wing back position in that formation we can truely beat any team.

We can deal with Mandzukic by cutting off supplies. But, this brings us back to square one. We must focus on disrupting the midfield organization of the Croatians. Stop them and we starve Mandzukic.
