As much as a lot of people here might not agree with you on Moses being a right wing back on that formation, but you have a solid Point, Moses has a wing back for Nigeria will not only bring stability to our defense and make it impossible to break down and give us a more solid squad especially with idowu on the other wing, but again unfortunately he's he's the best attacker we have and rohr might not want him there also playing as a wing back would help us keep the ball a lot better under pressure, also he can always play a game where me moves forward a lot to dangerous effects while other cover for him.
i never considered it but with the recent success in the new formation, I feel Moses will serve better as a defensive shield for the defense, with iwobi and co who are less selfish than Moses doing thier thing upfront, and an unsuspected v Moses lurking around for a mistake. With Moses and idowu covering my wing back position in that formation we can truely beat any team.
thank you bro.

....or Iwobi nutmegging Mascherano......

While at it, I do hope Croatians have that article where Ndidi was named EPL's tackle master

Very brilliant reply and post.

I believe Kovacic, Modric and Rakitic will watch Leicester City games with more intent because they know he is going to be one of the players out to disrupt their play.

So if someone ask you if there are players in the Super Eagles that can play multiple roles across the forward line, you will say no. Haba. Fear God. wink

We are talking about modern CF not versatile players.

In this case, we don't have.

The funniest part of the Modric dribble of Gomes was when Gomes tried to trip Modric and still staggered.

We don't evem have a modern CF neither do we have a prolific traditional striker in the national team.
Pls which one is modern CF or traditional striker again cos i remember 23 year ago all our FW were potential goal scorers and check US 94 team,Amokachie 2 goals,Amuneke 2 goals,Siasia 1 goal,Findi 1 goal,Yekini 1 goal and i don't think there was anything like modern CF during this period.

What we have in that team was top 9 which is Yekini but with your analysis and thegoodjoe am really confused on the role of Amokachie, Amuneke, Siasia,Finidi,do we called them modern CF?cos they are real goal poachers and Yekini as traditional striker.

The present eagle is not different from US squad if you check our goals statistics our forwards shared similar traits with what we have at US 94.They are real goal scorers.

Truly football has evolved but not much cos this your modern CF was used by Westerhoff but with the presence of traditional striker.

Now back to your comment you said we dont have modern CF but what are Iheanacho,Iwobi,Vic Moses,Simeon Moses,Onyekwuru,Kayode?

Remember with our traditional striker in Nwakaeme we could only scored a goal against Algeria but in his absence we had four goals against Argentina,

My question now with the absence of traditional striker against Argentina, who was our CF cos you said we don't have modern CF and what really make a player a modern CF and even traditional striker.

If Guardiola wanted to let Iheanacho go, there would be no reason for Manchester City putting a buy back clause.

The club does not want Iheanacho to go but they had to respect Guardiol's decision hence the need for Man city to play safe should incase Guardiola fails and moves on.

Back in 1994, talent and ability wise is not different from today. However, roles are different which suits the modern game.

Back then, we had the wingers, Finidi, Amunike, and the support strikers like Amokachi. We had the hitmen or finishers. Yekini and Siasia. A versatile striker could also play the support striking role.

Today, a player like Neymar can play on the left wing, right wing, support striking role or lead the attack. Players were not giving such freedom in the past.

OK but forgiveness said we don't have modern CF in this present team and which look a little bit confusing cos we nailed Argentina without a traditional striker.

TBH, I'm more worried about Kovacic,Perisic and Mandzukic than Modric

Balogun/Ekong will deal with strikers like Mandzukic better than strikers like Suarez for instance.

Players like Aboubakar and Slimani could not show anything. The Zambian striker Ngonga who was full of running was a handful for them.

I think the creativity of Modric is a more important asset than what the others offer.

Guardiola got Gabriel Jesus who had more attributes than Iheanacho. Not that Iheanacho lacked the attributes to play. Compared to those we have, Iheanacho is one that has lots of fine attributes to fit the modern game in our team.

He is just trying to act like if he does not get the point. The point is that Rohr prefers versatility. Even Nwakaeme switched roles during the Algerian game.

We have more modern day forwards than traditional strikers. No one talked about Modern day center forward. Instead, modern day forwards who can play different roles.

I watched some croatian WC qualifiers. I observed that whilst the midfielders are good on the ball, the CBs do not like to be pressed on the ball. They lose possession when pressed well and it has resulted in some goals conceded.
That is also also what Croatia and the other teams will notice about our backline too. Press our backline and they'd lose possession.

That is one of the demerits of that 3-5-2 formation. It will not allow us to maximize our potentials.
But If we must play 3-5-2 and we have to bring in Victor Moses we line up like this:

............Moses..........Iheanacho

........................Iwobi
Idowu......Mikel.............Ndidi....Shehu

.......Balogun......Awaziem.......Ekong

I prefer Moses in the attack and not as Wing Back. He is our major attacking weapon.
Shehu? Haaa! Don't think this has to do with Ebuehi oo but just look at Shehu in his own rights as a RWB. He won't fly.

If I say I am more worried about Lingard in the coming derby in Manchester, than Lukaku or Martial, does that mean I am saying Lingard is better than them? I am afraid of Lingard's pressing which will make it difficult for our defenders to keep possession.

Well, that is why teams study other teams. Croatia weakness is particular obvious because they conceded a couple of goals as a result.

We go with a Right wing back option. Meaning we need just one RWB Back-up. You pick Moses as the first choice, leaving room for one slot from the RBs.
I think rohr have said it repeatedly...that the team to play gonna dictate the kind of formation to adopt...
and for V Moses....being that we can play the 4-4-1-1 sometimes....he perfectly fits into all the formations....so there won't be a problem having the 3 RB....in the team.

he can still play as a winger when we revert to the old formation...

You see.
I have said it here before....
better they play for under 23 and 21 side so as to keep match fit.
than sit all through the bench....I still remember what Liverpool bench did to Moses @the last world cup....
anyone who has got problem wit that...should look elsewhere...
every Nigeria who watch football knows what nacho and musa offers when they're in the field of play for the national team....

they should play in any team just to keep fit.....

this combination is hot , it will be nice against older teams ... we are going to experience a very fast game play , mikel should be able to slow the tempo of that kind of gameplay at will . having Sheu and idowu as 2 and 3 .
shehu?
you are joking bro....
how about ebuehi...the truth is ebuehi is well ahead of shehu offensively...the lad got good crosses...and for a wingback in 3-5-2 set up....ebuehi should start....ahead of shehu...

that comment is illegal bro. Martial's like big toe is better than Lingard no matter how hard he presses. Also like I said there should be no circumstance barring injury that any Croat should be mentioned in the same breath as Modric, that's football blasphemy.

I feel Ebuehi played the 3-5-2 system better than Shehu against Argentina but let us see him in more games first. He seems to recover better than Shehu though the whole team was poor in the first half.

Shehu was outstanding in the qualifiers.

We can adjust personnel depending on the approach to the game.
