Police officers who are highly educated rarely behave lawlessly. But majority of the lower ranks are secondary school dropouts who joined the force as a means or avenue of survival and to make ends meet. All these coupled with the dangers associated with their profession now makes them to see innocent ppl as targets to make money from .

SARS has NO business whatsoever with yahoo boys. Even if a person walks up to SARS and declares himself a yahoo boy, SARS isn't mandated by law to arrest that person. It's simply not their duty. Not to talk of harrasing random people and accusing them of being yahoo boys.. It's disgusting. Let them face armed robbers and kidnappers. That is their job.

Just look at how backwards we are in this shithole called Nigeria. How many years ago was MD Abubakar retired as IG of Police? Yet the website of the so-called Special Fraud Unit still has Abubakar as the current IGP! Means the website hasn't been updated for many years! And yet this is supposed to be the most ICT equipped and technologically advanced unit of the police? I shake my head in utter disgust.

you are absolutely right, I had a first hand experience this week, was flagged down and asked for my identity, showed them my I. d and the next thing was that he wasn't convinced,i wanted to cause a scene there but then it was a quiet environment with little or no traffic, their extrajudicial killings came to mind so I obliged him to move the car, down at their base they accused me of so many crimes, same goes for over 10-15 guys who were working boys, those guys spent nothing less than 30mins in there and were released, saw them sharing their loots like petty thieves, at the end I was bailed with 10k for a crime I still can't figure out, Nigeria is a country where it's unlawful for you to be a law abiding citizen, nothing good comes out of the Nigerian police, not one segment or fraction of them outshines the other in good deeds, rather they are on a competitive race in shady deals and corrupt practices, a total rebirth of the police would go a long way in making this country a sane nation.

Nigeria is like a parallel universe. Policemen are armed robbers, murderers, kidnappers and rapists.

I once had an experience with these guys sometime around 2014.. It was at secretariat junction in Lagos..was gng to oba okran..immediately I alighted the bus, these guys just got down from dier car and told me I need to be searched. I was shocked and I obliged. They said i should enter their car and I told dem NO, I won't. I told dem nothing suggest to me that they are really members of the Nigeria police. I also made that realize the fact that this is a kidnapping period in d country. One of dem, fiercely looking screamed that I should enter now b4 he shoot me. I was so so scared that I quickly entered but I kept my one leg out of d car. Another one told me that am proving too stubborn.. They asked to see what was in my bag..they saw wallet, my phone, nysc documents, and Biro. Then deh took my phone and for close to 15 mins they were unable to ordinary open the Phone. It was lg G3..the open button is close to the back camera so they searched and searched until they had to swallow their pride and asked me to open it..I did then they checked and after some mins, handed over the phone to me..No sorry, no nothing..

Like someone had earlier said, these guys are merely educated.in fact most used to be community tout and someone decided to help by recruiting into d Nigeria police. There should be a mass purge in this department cos they have derailed from their security responsibilities and ve taken a dangerous dimension.
