No sir, check my comments, I rated him mostly by what I remembered of him in our jesery. Didn't even bring up his club he played for. His style of play and what we nicknamed him at viewing centers are fresh in my memory.
Kog45:
I know you are in trying to rate him with the clubs he played for throughout his career, truly not a good pedigree but mind you we have players like that just check Shehu Abdullahi.

For Yobo and Shittu comparison, I think whoscored rate You higher than shittu

https://www.whoscored.com/Players/8189/Show/Danny-Shittu

https://www.whoscored.com/Players/2180/Show/Joseph-Yobo

https://www.whoscored.com/Players/104432/Show/Kenneth-Omeruo
Based on super eagles, Danny Shittu is better than Omeruo at which was my initial point and i still stand by it.

I'm not comparing Yobo and Shittu cos generally i will rate Yobo but between 2006-2010 spent with eagles Shittu was the best.

Definitely they we have better stats cos of number of appearances.

Very possible hoping they sell him to a foreign club after the worldcup "if" he makes it or become our first choice.
Danielnino00:

.
U should know that with our local coach, there will be some bias and politics in players selection... even if Theo and Ajiboye perform better than Ezenwa at the CHAN,he will still get picked ahead of d duo... im even thinking that Enyimba will make Ezenwa their first choice to brighten his chance for making the WC list... there's some benefits from FIFA for clubs whose players get selected for d WC I think grin

Thank you my man. Some of us here watch eagles passionately but not always carried away with sentiments.

A lot forget the same Yobo cost us 2006 WC ticket against Angola, the best of Yobo was 2001 -2006,from 2006 -2010 it was average Yobo 2010-2014 was using his past glory to make the team nothing more, that was the reason why he lost his place to home based Oboboana at Afcon 2013.

Truly one of the best defender to come out of Nigeria but not in the class of Keshi,Chidi Nwanu,Uche Okechukwu, Christian Chuckwu,Taribo West.
it's unfair to blame yobo for the Angola loss, we were depleted that day and our football was atrocious anybody can make a mistake. yobo really served us well, for me yobo was great for us.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by somehow: 2:00pm On Dec 10, 2017
Bro, this argument won't change stats and facts I hope you know? His age as at when he played for us doesn't matter to me. What he did or undid matters. We all have our views on past players based on how we saw them play.
Kog45:
My man you measured him when he came into the team and at what age Yobo passed his prime.Do you know how old was Shittu when he made his debut for eagles.

He made his debut with an appearance under Onigbinde and was forgotten till around 2006/07,came into the team XI and partner Yobo till he left the team.Pls how old was Yobo in 2007 - 2010 that Shittu spent with eagles.During this period Shittu was a better performance.Did you know Keshi gave him wild card to Afcon and WC but refused the invitation.

Search no further as I have the answer

Their success secrets in GWG is due to teamwork, high team spirit, cohesiveness, stability, and their hunger for success.

I mean, from the way you dissected the team players individually, they are all bunch of average players, playing in below average teams and posting average results weekly.

Playing together in the GWG provides for them the only platform to show the world what they are made off.

Therefore, they are all hungry for success both old and young and this desire is what you see anytime they step on the field.

Mikel, Ighalo are playing in the backwater Chinese league, KC, Balogun, Iwobi and Musa are fastened on seatbelts, ....Shehu, Etebo, Ekong, Ebuehi, Idowu, Aina, Onazi, Agu though playing regularly but are all in backwater teams.

What else do you expect when these group of guys come together under an umbrella?... They will want to prove a point! That's the only thing they have going for them. The hunger, the desire for success in order to prove a point is their only drive. That is why we shouldn't temper much with current crop of players we have because right now, they are on a rollercoaster. They are a free playing, a free scoring team. They have an "air" of invincibility around them,..there is just this winning mentality that they posses whenever they are playing together. No Wonder they come to camp early, no wonder they gel a lot in camp too.

Once you Temper too much with this current team, it will kill whatever they have going,..only then will you see how the cookie crumbles

bro you re spot on ! you understand the science of the game

Blaming Yobo for Angola loss doesn't reduced his greatness in national team.I respect him a lot for his contribution.

Yobo declined like we have all pointed out and w didn't get good replacement, we tried various legs including shittu, we had to make do of some which included Shittu, this doesn't mean shittu was better than Yobo at his best. Let's even make it easy, at their best, who would you pick for a world cup tournament? I repeat (at their best, you surely know when yobo was our newest bride then in the SE and when Shittu came along).
Mickael2:

ok let me put it this way, between 2002-early 2013 we were not defensively strong right? And who was the constant defender there? Yobo. Many coaches tried many players, Apam, Adeleye, Shittu and so many others but we were still poor defensively then Keshi removed Yobo and since then we have been strong relatively, what does that tell you?

That's just it.. Most NPFL clubs and players are just after money... That's why d league is still underdeveloped

But I don't see ezenwa being our first choice though .. Not if

1) Enyeama gets back to playing and decides to return to d team
2) Ikeme recovers from Leukemia and decides to continue playing football
3) Uzoho gets more playing time with Diportivo first team...

Ezenwa might eventually make d lost though but not as first choice I'm sure

Why cut off when Yobo was the starman for us in the eagles? You are rating Shittu when he was at his best for us but using another standard for Yobo?

As for omeruo, looking at what I look at when rating or picking defenders, I will go with Omeruo before anything Shittu. In this day and age, a defender like Shittu will likely be smart attacker's toast including the ref because he was raw and rash then. He was very good in the air and can run too, tired less but bad timing, unwarranted bamboozing of balls into the stands was the order of the day during his time.

In African settings, maybe old nations cup, I'll pick him to deal with his fellow jambody old school African players but in this age and time, penalty and dead ball go full opponent hand.

We nicknamed him rugby redhorn shittu.

Why are you guys already expressing schadenfreude over Tammy's poor form? Because he shunned Nigeria? I know it was hard to accept after how some of us got nearly convinced that he will switch to Nigeria and also considering how Pinnick fought for him. But it doesn't really make sense to be exulted by his misfortune. He was born and brought up in England and I think not many of us would have agreed to switch if we were in his shoes. Inasmuch as Dele Alli is not playing for Nigeria, I'm still happy when he puts up some sublime performances

Your hope on Ikeme eh.. well that disease isn't something that can go away in 6 months time, I rather you concentrate on the birds in hand.

I'm also losing interest in Enyeama already and I think there are other known "matured" GKs out there the coach can look at if we must go with old/experienced GK.

As for our league, we kinda run it like the Dutch league where other leagues come to pick the best.

Actually, I'm not the one placing high hope on Ikeme return.. its another guy here grin
But I do hope he returns though..

As for Enyeama, I honestly won't mind if he doesn't return. But Rohr already gage the conditions for his return.. With our goalkeeper crisis now,he will likely be the first choice if he does return...

His holdup play pull opposition players towards him which takes them away from their positions and creates openings in their teams, and the beauty is in him being able to pass the ball to initiate an attack. That's why when he doesn't play we find it difficult to create chances for scoring opportunities.
This is why I prefer him playing closer to the strikers because he will help bring out the DMs out of their positions instead of using him as DM which will only pull strikers and attacking midfielders closer to him
Exactly!

not all players will be +1....

Anybody born AFTER June will not be +1 by the time the World Cup begins. So, the likes of Iheanacho, Ekong and co will remain the same age they were when the survey was carried out

What if they did the calculation based on years and months Eg 20years and 6months means 20.5; 23 years 3months means 23.25 and stuffs like that. Obviously, in 6months time all figures must change even if it is the decimal components.

If you lose these matches you will demoralized the players, it’s better to play beatable team or teams that will allow us develop/showcase our strength. It’s good to go to the World Cup in high spirit.
We beat Togo 3-0, and fell to SA 0-2 in "Uyo".Have you forgotten?
