Lol.
If u have been following me u would know I’m very comfortable with Uzoho as our number 1. I’m not sentimental like that.
What’s Idah stake in the matter? Announcing that Enyeama told him this and that. He should just have said Enyeama told me to put it out there. Rohr clearly gave Enyema conditions. And so be it.

There are some kind of people that will find ur mouth and use it to hurt you. Idah seems to be that kind of person, unless he comes out to say Enyeama told him to put it out there.

safarigirl:
why should Idah shut up? Bexause he is not saying what you want to hear?

Joebie please I have left this Enyeama talk, before I waste my time going in circles over an inconsequential argument. No quote me again about this guy

If you wan tell me anything, tell me about NFF's proposed roadmap to Russia

Madam. Rohr started the talks with Enyeama without anyone’s approval. The situation will be concluded between Rohr and Enyeama. Peterside Idah needs to shut up.

Peterside said on the radio which I listened to on Lagos talks that the conversation he had with Enyeama was actually after that Oliseh incident occurred, so this report isn't recent but around last year.

Thanks for clearing the air, because it totally makes no sense that Idah will be making such comments after Rohr’s talks with Enyeama directly.

Why must Enyeama be convinced when he retired himself from the team. Should he be convinced when he has never shown interest or even spoken about returning?? I'm asking you bro.
Direct your question to Rohr who has been consistently in calling for Enyeama. I am just a fan. My answer will not help you.

What should be done concerning enyeama? Remember when he was in his top form... Can you count how many times Rohr talk to him? And still this man refuse to say a word...
Do you know how many souls that have talk to him...?

We should let go!

If he wanted to come back he will come out and say it..

I was even expectant of him coming out of self retirement not until I saw peterside comment saying he's tired of playing for Super Eagle... That's an insult on whole country... That's how one person saying nigeria bring red carpet for him...

Let focus on what we have at hand... And work hand on them if we re still expecting one enyeama to return we re on a long thing and I pray it won't be too long we realise we need to move on...

If he want to come back... He should come out and said he's ready for selection not that he's tired of playing for us
Yea we have to prepare those we have. Enyeama cannot be forced to return. But then na Rohr - the man in charge - who is keen on Enyeama not me.

You think they care? I can tell you they have achieve their aim.. That's qualifying for WC And milk out any financial attachment to it..

Most of them took qualification to WC more important than nations cup cos they will have opportunities to travel out to countries... Sponsors will bring in more money.. FG will bring billions of Naira too.. Which they will not account for..

Then ,they Wil ask who is enyeama?

Those cabal don't care ,we have qualified already.. Whether we perform well or not they don't care maybe few people in NFF care like president n his vices... Others...
So plus all that this NFF has done and is doing you can still say that apart from Pinnick and his two vices the others don't care. Is this fact speaking or perception?

Away from the Enyeama issue, Victor moses' chelsea have been drawn to face Barca in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Barca typically attacks from their left side, with Messi typically looking out to pick alba. This would be moses' biggest test yet, he has to be disciplined enough to stop those passes. Going forward, he'd also come against alba and umtiti, this should give him a taste of what to expect at the world cup.

Barca, bye bye!!!! grin

Lemme try again. I lost all i typed when i tried responding to you. Keep in mind that Enyeama hadnt won Afcon in 2010. He had point to prove then. Largaback bein a white man too was also a thing he wouldnt wanna mess with. Did he not mess with Sia1? If Siasia comes out to tell you his views about Enyeama, you will be shocked.
Now we av won Afcon now, who is this uncircumcised phillistine (Oliseh) disrespecting me. Head don dey swell now. What has he Oliseh achieved that I havent achieved (narratives mine)

At the 1st bolded quote, Enyeama said it himself and I quote " I cant be a 2nd choice goalie in the team after 13years in the National team". What other proof do you need?

At 2nd bolded, if I may answer, I would say none. None of our other players were saviours. But I will also acknowledge our past and present crop of players for their service to Nigeria. Just to jibe at what you said, if musa didnt score 2 goals against argentina, you know the score would have read 3-0 right? Yeah ..... 3- tondo!!!

Even if he had chopped 3 or even 10 he'd still be all time best. Abi you can change that? Try sha.

Actually to say the truth, Enyeama is the best. NO DOUBT!!! In fact I dont have issues with him rescinding his decisions. But first, he owes all of us an apology.

I will not join those who sing pity party songs and say he got wronged or treated badly. There are the facts. Ego and pride as it was found in Lucifer was his problem. Shikena!
I watched the interview he had on channels and I watched that of Oliseh. The analysts on channels said both of them are to blame. My position based on what I watched is that none of them is to blame. We just had two people misunderstanding each other. Oliseh gave certain context that made me understand the issues. Both of them acted based on their misunderstood positions.

Rohr has been doing the needed talking with him. But he did not stop there. He also gave conditions meaning he wasn’t giving Enyeama a free pass.

Rohr can do without Enyeama, but Rohr has shown from his utterances that an in-form Enyeama is needed

Actually, Enyeama has enough time to get fit. Goal keepers are special breed. You could see in the Egyptian national team. Their keeper is Old as innnnnn Old. But the dude is still able to do it. And thats why I cant discard a player based on age. When it comes to what Enyeama can offer, there is no doubt. If he is match fit, he is practically better than all those we have.

That is not to discredit what you have said. But bear in mind that a goalkeeper is just one of the elements in a team.

Lemme pose this trivia to us all. Which would we prefer, strong defence, strong attack, bad goalkeeper OR... good goalkeeper good defence bad attack? OR GOOD goalkeeper, bad defence, bad attack?

I rest my case
The bolded is precisely well put. There's a kind of cheap tactics some are using on this thread: we take any category like youthfulness, team spirit, experience, clubside, performance, old legs, homebased, foreign born to set up totalitarian criteria. When you call for Martins team youth will attack you, when you call for young players, team experience will attack you sometimes with valid reasons but most times with emotion and sentiments cos they simply just love their category.

Do you know I once argued strenuously against the invitation of Martins but I had to re-evaluate my stance for four reasons: 1)we need at least one more attacker(2) Martins was performing at par with Ighalo in the same league (3) it's just an invitation for God sakes (4) the overall goal of glory for the team should override my personal preference and sentiments.

You see those categories I mentioned above? There are our equivalents on this thread of the tribes and tribalism issue that has bedevilled us as a nation. Tribe of youth doesn't agree with tribe of experience etc. Meanwhile we forget that what should guide our discussions is performance. Will youth help us post quality performance? Will experience help us? Will the home based help us? Will the foreign born help us? A team is not youth, home based, foreign based, team spirit solely as criterias in themselves but all of these criterias in good measure but performance trumps them all because football is a performance sports and that's what will be recorded not all the other criteria. If we like we take all the youths, if they fail to perform we will feel the pain like we did after the SA defeat. If we like let's take all the experienced players, if they fail to perform experience will not give us any satisfaction like it has never done in tourneys we took experienced players to and failed to perform. If we like let us swoon over team spirit, about chemistry if we don't perform that team chemistry will turn sour in our belle.

A team is a pot of soup being cooked for public consumption not personal consumption. It needs many ingredient to make it sweet. Let's those who love salt not say oil is not good and let those who don't like pepper say onion is all we need to make the soup sweet.

All categories must be carefully filtered through the sieve of what will give us optimal performance.

I understand your concern. I have always read and related with your thoughts.

But on this one you need to realize two things.

1. No team will go as far as winning a cup without a good goalie. You would need to re-watch an highlight of the 2010 world cup between Netherland and Spain to understand. Top class goal keeping on display for both sides. Saving blushes.

2. At the moment, Akpeyi and Ezenwa are prone to errors. That is not good for our campaign. It is not always easy to comeback the way we did against Argentina when your goalie makes an unpardonable error. Likewise it is demoralizing and hurtful for both fans and players when the team has worked really hard to maintain a lead up till the dying minutes only for your error prone goal keeper to give in a cheap goal and squander the efforts. That's tragic.

Uzoho is basically untested. I believe he is on his way to be our next super goalie but at this moment, not until we have tested him in many friendlies we cannot confidently rely on him to lead the lines at the world cup.

So basically we have no confidence in any of our 3 goalies for now, so if Enyeama is fit and doing well do you not think Rohr should invite him?

For other positions we do not need any Old member for chemistry sake, but for the goal keeping department.............

We would be an unserious team if we do not take our goal keeping department serious.

Questence.
You have spoken excellently well. Defence they say wins tournaments. Ikeme kept us in the game against Zambia in Luanda before we scored. If he had conceded maybe na calculator things again for be our case. I am not by this saying Enyeama it must be. But the thought bears consideration

Now at the bolded: last week we talked about team spirit and I was entirely in support of it and I gave examples of Dominech and Anelka, Maldini and Balotelli. But please let's not set up team spirit as a bogey man to stop the INVITATION of any player. We should be cautious and careful not to upset the delicate balance in the team but team spirit is one of the things in the mix not the only thing.

Dennis Rodman was a cantankerous, trouble shooter. He was wahala himself. By his own admission he didn't speak with Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippin for two years meanwhile they were team mates in the Championships winning team of Chicago bulls. Why am I saying this? Nothing is an absolute as such.

@the bolded and how many goals have our current goalkeepers conceded that truly justify all the hue and cry about Enyeama?

Like I said in my earlier post, we always entertain unnecessary fears about the Eagles, when we were drawn against cameroon and algeria, many wrote the team off due to the quality of players on ground, even in the last world cup, I knew high profile Nigerian journalists who wrote the Eagles off against serbia, why are we always doing this to ourselves? Even in the current world cup draw, Many of us already predicting we will be beaten silly because we don't have a keeper. And when the Eagles excel, we all begin to eat our words. At times we shouldn't over analyse things and just let things be.

I bet you if those players you saying they should have their chances do have it like martins in the past and fail to perform, some will come back to defend their poor performance and blame it on the coach or other players. That is how the cycle has been and when are going to be tired moving in this cycle for Christ's sake?
I am a 100% believer in this team and I am trusting them to to go all the way. I oppose fear: fear from those who call for youth because they are afraid some of their choice players will be displaced if the old guys are invited. I oppose fear from those who believe the team will fail unless the old legs are brought back.

My perspective is simply guided by what will help the team post quality performance. I don't care about categories as such.

Finally always think about this word INVITATION. It would help you alot. To be invited doesn't mean you will make the team but many of you argue that this players should not even be invited at all.

Keita is a Bundeliga player....most Africans do not watch anything outside EPL and La Liga, so votes will not favour players outside that scope unless the player is extraordinary

Then of course, there is the goal scorers angle
