In America, this actually a good advice. Maybe not twice a week. 5times in 7 days or bathing after work instead of before work.
You no sweat, no dust so wetin wan make your body smell if you wear deodorant?
You can do that in the US, except in Florida where the humidity is high. During the winter, I don’t mind showering only 3 or 4 times a week during the winter in CA or the Eastern seaboard.

Good morning, I've a family friend who is now a citizen in the US for more than 12 years.
Now he wanted my younger bro to come over to US to live and work. Nb: My bro has only Waec certificate.
but due to Trumps policy the man is even confuse on which way to go about it since its been long he visited Nigeria.
Pls travel experts advise me on possible way to do it. even if it means my bro starting from high school.

Are you for real, you want your brother to start all over again from secondary school. He will be like "MR IBU GOES TO SCHOOL." Even though e get as your story be. Let him apply to universities in US and then get his F1 visa.

Whats the biggie about eating in a car? Sone peeps got to hustle between 2 jobs and also school too so i wonder which time you will have to sit down and enjoy your plate of jollof rice and sikin...lol

I disagree except no be this same Yankee..so you don't see bathing twice a week as a bad habit cos Na oyinbo dey do am but will be quick to condemn Africans for lateness..why not bathe and also don't be late but if Na oyinbo dey late reverse will be the case and una go late and to say oyinbo dont care about physical appearance issa no no..don't generalise..the ones have met love fashion..
Ikengawo:
Oyibo doesn't play around with lateness at all. Next time you're late, call them and tell them the situation. It's better to call them and let them know than anything else because being late in their mind means you don't care about the job, you're not reliable, and you're not a serious/organized person. It's not normal for Nigerians to share when they're fuc6king up but in America, that's what you're supposed to do.

Sometimes they can by foolish with how strict they are on time. You can be the best employee at a place but if you're late too frequently you're fired.

Next time you're running late

1. Call and tell them
2. Don't speed, the lights will always balance you out, speeding will get you a pulled over and that will make you even later by 30 mins to an hour. Worst, you can get in an accident and lose your life.
3. Leave early

Tips for making you more punctual
1. You don't always need to shower. As Africans, we believe that we have to bath before everything. Some Americans bath twice between monday-friday. Not because they're dirty, but because they know that it's easy to lose time bathing and trying to look good. As sometimes you need to just put on deodorant, brush your teeth, wash your face and leave the house.

2. keep a toothbrush and toothpaste in the car. You can also keep clothes in your car too so that if you're running late you can handle these things when you get there. Some ppl carry shavers, etc.

3. Don't be fashionable. You notice that Americans care less about their appearance than Nigerians. Trying to pick the best clothes, match them, iron them etc will make you late more often than you need. Pick what you're going to wear the night before, and keep it simple. Forget about looking good, that's an unnecessary burden

4. Leave earlier than the trip requires. Traffic is unpredictable and your boss doesn't care

5. Eat in your car. If you can prepare breakfast that's portable, you can eat it in the car before work. But the key is to arrive first, then eat.

6. If you have issues with transportation, or your accommodation, let your boss know. If you have no car, let them know that you don't have a car right now but you're working to get one and that you don't believe it will effect your punctuality but you think it's important to let your boss know. If you tell them that there's a risk of you being late, they will understand when it happens. People don't keep secrets here. Nigeria is about unnecessary secrecy, but when you're here, you must be transparent even if the facts make you look stupid. They won't judge you because everyone here is struggling to make it in their own way and can relate. They'll appreciate your transparency.

This country is about planning. Lateness makes it hard to make plans that involve you. If you can let people know that you're going to be late, they can adjust their plan. Otherwise, the real danger of a late employee is it ruins the daily plan. Unpredictability is feared here

I personally do not like the idea of bathing twice a week. But, with the trend of weather forecast in Northern UK, a temperature between 2- 7 degree celsius will make your body moisture dry completely. Though, bathing may not really be used to access your cleanliness.

Oyinbo don't play with their business, in as much you will be paid on due date. You work for the money, no laxity during work. It is good you call if you must go late than going late and would not call.

No be the job itself dey vex me, na the manner wey I take lose am dey pain me pass. Plus as an employee, you get a lot of benefits, including special stock offers.

Nothing spoil sha, life goes on.
Sorry to hear about this.....job loss is one thing...big difference in being laid off and being fired. As a seasonal worker...if laid off...the next time they are hiring... you'll be ahead of the pack since they already trained you. The thing is...even if you started in warehouse....Amazon is huge..there would've been opportunities to move into other fields...marketing, programing, ..you name it. Being fired..you are most likely... blacklisted...application for any job in Amazon automatically rejected. No different from Federal (US government jobs )....you are fired from one...you are barred from all. As others have said..... being on time and reliable in reality are more important than certifications!...doesn't matter how good you are in what you do..... how certified you are..... they'll terminate you in a heartbeat if you have a problem with being punctual/reliable. Note...they never be concerned about where you live...how far from work....how you get to work....they say get at 8 a.m...is for you to get there 8 a.m...no excuses. Again...if you are ever going to benlate...even think you may he late...call early..let them know..and by what time you will be there. If you think you may get there by 11...tell them you'll get there by 11:30. We must stumble as we learn to walk. ..see this as a stumble.

Pls, there is something bothering me that I want u guys to help me sort out. A middle aged man left his family last yr to USA for a programme(I think govt related) and is supposed to go back to Nigeria at the end of that programme but he didn't. It's more than a yr now and his family(finished giving birth since) are of the opinion he will soon send for them. I'm close to the wife and anytime we chat, she is always hopeful she will soo leave Nigeria.

Is the man not staying in USA illegally? How is he sustaining himself and promising his family they will soon join him? Is something like that possible. Cos I want the woman to stop living in utopia. Thanks
