Please I apply for MBBS in Bayero University Kano (BUK) with Jamb score of 263 and post Jamb with 272 and my average was 267.5. I heard some good grade in my O'Level result with,

4. Biology: A1
5. Chemistry: C4.
I was expecting at least medical related courses, unfortunately they shift me from MBBS to Botany. Please what can I do with Botany because I don't want to loose another year again?

Going by the quoted, accept and proceed, but if you still wanna stay back a year retake jamb.

First and foremost,accept the admission..You may have the options of transferring to medicine after 100L next year or taking another jamb Utme while in 100L

Don't even be deceived by accepting to believe you can change to MBBS after 100L. If your scores are all legit (no expo or special centre) then you can do better than botany(since you obviously don't like the course). You can choose to accept botany now and apply again next year if you have the funds or ignore it and try later. I gave up zoology then when I was offered cos I felt I could do better and I don't regret my decision now, one of the best decisions I made.

Never under-estimate any course! Do you realize that the current Vice-Chancellor of UNILAG studied Botany?

I'll advice you to take the course seriously, excel in it. If you can, make a first class, do an MSc & PhD afterwards and the sky is your limit.

Again, never underestimate any course!

That is always my advice: stay back and retake the exam next year.
@OP: Staying back removed all the distractions of campus life and allows you prepare adequately for the next Jamb. But if you are in a hurry (for whatever reason) then you can go ahead and start a course you obviously have no passion for.

I pray we get to that time soon when those that apply for medicine will be given medicine (same with other fields) and not forced to read another course simply because the school needs students to fill up their classes in those courses.

start the botany but prepare very well to write another jamb. Don't believe anybody that tells u that its easy to cross to mbbs after 100level it is near impossible even if you score 5.0 cgpa in your 100 level. The golden rule is never REST until you see yourself in mbbs, and again don't ever listen to people that will sweet talk you into accepting any botany as a career cos they won't be there to get u a job when the time comes.

This ain't easy bro.

My cent; If you can cope with the course and at the same time prepare die-hard for the next jamb so you can hit 300 and above, please do to avoid story that touches the spirit



please dont allow 2:0, letting the Botany course go and the next jamb being some how(God forbid).

There are less competitive courses that are also lucrative and marketable just in case you can get a change of course. The courses are
1. Pharmacy
2. Nursing science
3. Medical laboratory science
4. Radiography
5. Physiotherapy
6. Optometry ( but am not sure if BUK is doing it sha)
If u can get any of these course you are good to go.

I don't know true that is but taking another utme while in 100L is a viable option if he's financially OK.

Some lecturers can be so mean...I've never loved reading at night.. Anything above 12 a. m is a no-no...It's cool you know your strengths quite well...Which course are you studying?

Course like Botany, Zoology, most youth don't want to study such course and e make sense ooo cool money if u hit it right
