elampiro nihilist afrodoc2 capitalcee eph12 Read this There is a flaw in Jose Mourinho’s argument that the difference between Manchester United and Manchester City is money. If Pep Guardiola was in charge of the United squad I believe they would win the title. Rewind to the start of this season and assess the head-to-head qualities of the United and City squads. Player-for-player, which would you argue was superior? Was Ederson considered better than David De Gea? Were City’s centre-backs Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones preferable to Eric Bailly and Phil Jones? Did United fans want Fernandinho or Nemanja Matic? United broke the world transfer record to sign Paul Pogba, and then made Romelu Lukaku the most expensive Premier League player of last summer. Which English clubs made bigger statements of intent? How many United or England fans would have swapped Marcus Rashford for Raheem Sterling a year ago? And when Anthony Martial first arrived from Monaco, was his reputation greater than that of Leroy Sane when he joined City? Although he was signed before Mourinho’s appointment, Luke Shaw was a £30 million full-back – more expensive than City striker Gabriel Jesus. The United manager’s complaints about the value of the squads do not add up. We can go on throughout the respective lists. Where Mourinho sees players unable to execute his tactical blueprint, I believe Guardiola would have taken a different approach with a squad Mourinho believes needs reinforcing. Even now, it is the United squad that has the most expensive ‘superstars’ – or certainly those with the greater reputation when they joined the club. Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Pogba and Lukaku delivered elsewhere prior to moving to Old Trafford. Have they improved under Mourinho? That is the troubling question for the United manager. It is starting to sound like he has no patience or will to make what he has better. City are ahead this season because Guardiola has developed players rather than expected ready-made talent to instantly deliver. Mourinho has increasingly come to rely on more experienced, established performers. If you want to evolve a club or a team, you don’t call Mourinho. He is a coach who navigates his way to silverware with teams that have the raw materials – something he has already achieved at United with two trophies in his first season. His reputation as a world-class coach is based on his ability to find a way to win. His legacy will be elevated if he returns to what made him so outstanding during his first spell at Chelsea when guiding players such as John Terry, Frank Lampard – who he inherited and made better - and Didier Drogba who he signed and made world-class after an indifferent first season at Stamford Bridge. If Mourinho was coaching the Manchester City side they would not be playing the style of football we are seeing today. If there is a symbol of that look no further than Kevin De Bruyne, a player Mourinho coached at Chelsea but then sold. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/12/29/jose-mourinho-sounds-like-broken-record-pep-guardiola-man/ This was exactly the same position I have 5 Likes |

raumdeuter:Sterling is benefitting from a good team set up like the one he enjoyed with Suarez,Sturridge and Coutinho under Brendan Rodgers before his transfer to City. Player tendency to improve is related to Coach's tactics and the player desire to justify his selection in the team.Increase in his numbers is due to a system that has favoured him. 2 Likes |

raumdeuter: Jamie Carragher was an average player during his days, and ussually commits blunders, he is an arm chair critic who doesnt know Jack about management. That was how Gary Neville ran his mouth, he went to Valencia and nearly relegated them. The good thing about Gary Neville is that he was one of the best players in his position, Carragher was average at best, I won't take him seriously. |

raumdeuter: I personally believe that Mourinho might have lost his touch. I suspect that this job might be his penultimate big job in club football. I used to disagree a lot with nateevs when he used to disparage the man, because when you look at his history, you will find record breaking attacking football in his catalogue. Jose wouls usually play expansive football up to a point, bookended by games of mors pragmatic football. Today as i was driving, i heard on radio that mourinho was worried that Lukaku has been working out too much in the gym and has put on a fair bit of muscle...which may have led to him losing some pace. Sometime during the last decade, the pace of the game has changed a lot. The big bruisers of the yesteryear are gone. You cant see anybody with roberto carlos type of thighs anymore. You cant see defenders that look like micah richards or oguchi onyewu anymore. The players have shed that muscle and become lighter, faster...even shorter. .The physique has changed greatly and many of these footballers could very easily be long distance runners. Kante and Firmino easily come to mind. If you look at Leroy sane's body shape too, the guy literally moves like a ballet dancer. I remember watching him doing his stretches and warm up at Wembley last season ahead of the FA cup semifinal and the guy literally moved like a cat. Mourinho traditionally has always trusted in big strong burly lads. From Drogba to Essien to Matic and Lukaku, powerful men have always been central to his game plan. This season alone, i read somewhere that Jose already has the tallest squad in the league. Well what if, a game plan that is so dependent on height, mass and power cannot compete with opponents who are smaller, faster, more agile and boast more stamina? What if the same bus tactics that used to work so well is failing because top level opponebts can simply run rings around Mourinhos giants? What if the likes of Lukaku are really piling on the muscle and now struggling to cover distance quickly? I dont know the answers to these questions...plus im high as fück! 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Nihilist: 3:56am On Dec 30, 2017 |
SIRcumalot: If you ever saw roberto carlos kick a ball, you wouldnt even be mentioning Aguero here. Eden Hazard also has huge thighs relative to his size. Roberto Carlos had 26 inch thighs bro and hes a brazilian midget. Arnold scharzwenegger in his prime as 6 foot 2 professional body builder had 28.5 inch. For context, the legs you can see in this pic is only slighlly bigger than roberto carlos's. 1 Like 1 Share

Nihilist: Nice essay, you should post more when high. I agree with most of what you posted. Also football officiating has changed, technique and speed is rewarded now rather than power or size. Most physical tackles are now outlawed and most physical contact is now punished. All you need in order to dominate in midfield these days is press the opponent quickly and force a turnover, get to loose balls quickly , and keep the ball with your technique. Tackling fiercely like Vinnie Jones, Robby Savage or even Roy Keane does not get you much these days apart from maybe an early yellow card. Any little pull or shove and your opponent goes down like he has been shot. 1 Like 2 Shares |
