You mean eagles?
Sure now. Imagine Shehu standing over fk like Alonso of Chelsea, and he scores. Do they even yearn to practice this in training?

That's the point. The BEST NIGERIAN PLAYER OF THE YEAR should include both club and national team performances. Hence, even if you were to compare VicMo's performance with Chelsea to what Ndidi did for Leicester, you still have to give the edge to VicMo because he was also the mainstay of the Super Eagles.

O pari

Mickael2:

he asked the BEST NIGERIAN PLAYER OF THE YEAR, not the best performing SE player, and in that regard Ndidi combined consistent good performances with longetivity. VicMo was injured for most times and others werent up to par

OK they are not average, hope you are okay.

Nigeria Line up against Bulgaria.

1.Peter Rufai. Go Ahead Eagles. Belgium

2.Austin Eguavoen. Kortrijk. Belgium

3.Ben Iroha. Vitesse Arnhem. Holland

4.Sunday Olishe. Rc Leige. Belgium

5.Uche Okechukwu. Brondby Denmark

6.Chidi Nwane. Anderlecht Belgium*

7.Finidi George. Ajax. Holland*

8.Daniel Amokachie. Cercle Brugge Belgium

9.Rashidi Yekini. Vitoria Setubal. Portugal

10.Samson Siasia. Nantes. France

11.Emmanuel Amuneke. Zamalek Egypt.

Indeed your truth is bitter.

Happy new year in advance

No. Name ...

1. Rufia - Eredivise

2. Austin Eguavoen - Kortrijk was in the top 5 leagues in Europe. It is just like playing in France.

Verdict: laudable. Augustine in top 5 league vs Shehu in back water league, or vs Tyrone in Eredivise which is in the top 10 league. Do you want to compared french league(Belgian league) with Eredivise of today? N.O NO. The gulf in class is too much.

3. Ben Iroha - Viteses played in the UEFA cup quarter finals for the second time in three seasons in 92/93 and Ben was part it. Don't forget he left Asec Mimosa before he went there.

Verdict. Played for a top 4 club in Eredivise. If not how did they qualify for UEFA cup?

Ben's Viteses vs Bryan Idowu's Amkar Perm vs Echiejile's Sivapoor. The difference is clear.

4. Sunday Oliseh - RC Liege was in the top 3 or 4 best club Belgium as at that time. It won the Belgium cup in 1990 ahead of Anderlech with Victor Ikpeba. They were in the top 5 leagues in Europe and among the top clubs in Europe.

UEFA Cup Winners' Cup:
- quarter-finalists in 1991

UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League:

- semi-finalists in 1964
- quarter-finalists in 1990

Verdict; Sunday Oliseh' RC Liege vs Ndidi' Leicester city, vs Mikel Ogu' Sheeber. Draw

5. Uche Okechukwu - Fernerbahce was fluctuating btw the first and 2nd in the Turkish league.

Verdict. Uche situation was better than Ekong but the Germany league were Balogun plays is better.

6. Chidi Nwanu - Anderlecht. Chidi Nwanu was even the second best African player in the Belgian league in 1993.

Verdict. No contest

7. Finidi George- Ajax

Verdict. Finidi of Ajax vs Victor moses of Chelsea. Even

8. Daniel Amokachi - Club Brugge is the second most successful club in Belgium. The first and only Belgian club to reach the Finals of European cup. Prior to the time Amokachi went there in 1990 they had reached the semi finals of UEFA cup in 1988, won the league in 1988 &1990, won the Belgian cup in 1986 and won the Super cup in 1986, 1988, & 1990 before Amokachi helped them to win the league in 1992, the Belgian cup in 1991, the Super cup in 1991, 1992 and 1994 and finaly helped them to reach the semi finals of the cup winners cup in 1992 after his club had dumped out Athletico Madrid in the quarter finals. He even scored a goal the winning goal against Werden Bremen in the First leg of the semi finals. His performance didn't go unnoticed in 1992, 1993 and 1994 which won him 2 Ebony awards, Bronze Ebony award, Best foreign player in the Pro league award and the Bronze APOTY award.

Verdict: He played in the best club in Belgium Pro league and in the top 10 clubs in Europe. The pedigree of the club and individual laurels he won didn't portray him as average.

Amokachi vs Ighalo, vs Iheanacho vs Nwakaeme. TKO

9. Rashidi Yekini- There is no sense in trying to prove that he was a superstar in both Africa and Europe because doing that will be a mockery to African and European football. He was the best and second best player in Africa for two straight years going in the world. The best player of 1994 AFCON and 3rd best in 1990. The highest goal scorer in two AFCON already in 1994. The top goal scorer in Nigeria, Ivory Coast and highest goal scorer in the 4th best league in Europe in 1994. These were his individual laurels before going to the WC.

Verdict; no contest else TKO to Ighalo, Iheanacho and Nwakaeme.

10. Samson Siasia. He moved from the 5th best league to the 2nd best league in Europe. Nantes was the third best club in France as at the time he went there and became the champions of Ligue 1 the next season. They even reached the semi finals of the UEFA Champions league in 1995. The point is Nantes was a potential candidate to win the league at that time because they already won their 6th league title in 1983, runner up in 85 & 86 and within the top 5 in 1992 & 1993.

Verdict; A proven goal scorer in the Belgium league moved to the second best league in Europe full of best footballers in Europe.
Samson vs Iheanacho. Fatality

11. Emmanuel Amuneke. The best African player going to the world cup. Zamake was the best club in Africa.

Verdict, no contest else fatality on Simon, Iwobi, Etebor and Ahmed

Keep trying.

What The NFF Is Doing To Cap The Likes Of Olosunde, Uwakwe, Amaechi? Pinnick Replies

Nigeria Football Federation boss Amaju Pinnick has revealed that key officials are working behind the scenes in their bid to invite foreign-born Nigerian talents to Nigeria's national teams.

The likes of Matthew Olosunde (Manchester United), Xavier Amaechi (Arsenal), Tariq Uwakwe (Chelsea), Dennis Adeniran (Everton) and Tayo Edun (Fulham) are eligible to represent Nigeria's youth teams but presently turn out for their countries of births.

Pinnick has stated that NFF Vice President Seyi Akinwumi has set the ball rolling but diplomatically refused to mention the foreign-born talents they have approached over a potential call-up in the near future.
Recently, American-born Arsenal-linked striker Lateef Omidiji Jnr was bound to play for the United States U17 team until he was convinced by Akinwumi to wait for his chance with the Golden Eaglets.

''I have the first Vice President Seyi Akinwumi, he is also a member of the CAF Youth Committee, he's doing a lot in that regard,''
.
''Only last week there were some messages he sent to me for approval and I gave him the go ahead.

''You can imagine the caliber of youth players coming in, we will be able to select them, we will be able to put them in our database but we can't come and start saying because this same Nigerians will call them and discourage them from coming.''
As many as six players of Nigerian descent eligible to represent the Flying Eagles - Fikayo Tomori, Joshua Onomah, Dominic Solanke, Ademola Lookman, Sheyi Ojo and Ovie Ejaria - assisted the Young Lions win the FIFA U20 World Cup in the summer.

And this is super for you . so super to the extent you will say 94 were not average but the present crop are average. So it's by champions league goals now abi? When Onyekuru is mentioned as doing the equivalent of what Ikpeba did you will put Onyekuru down.

Finidi was at Ajax? Is that it? So Vicmo is at mamelodi sundowns? And Ndidi is at Kitwe United of Zambia?

We had players at Anderlecht? Where is Onyekuru? Are you so determined to be blind? I was expecting that you will mention AC Milan or Inter. Were the 94 set better as individuals? I adopt Kog45 analysis as mine to answer this question. But were they all playing in better clubs as outstanding players. No! Clubwise there's no difference with the present crop contrary to your false romanticism of the past.
Quit this comparisons. It's getting ridiculous. After some time I will let this issue rest trusting I have done enough to counter your false narrative. I will leave you to your prejudice.

Ephraim is joined to his idols;leave him alone. (Hosea 4:7)

Yes of course, 60% or 70% of our first 11 were outstanding.

There is big gulf in class btw 1994 team and present team.

Anderlecht and Belgian pro league are currently shadows of themselves. It is not comparable to the Anderlecht of those days.

Solanke being awarded best striker at world u-20 is good enough for you. But osimhen is no good enough for you and for you his time will never come because you see no quality in him. Even when both competitions are age grade competitions. I am not comparing both players. I am only seeing your bias. Forget solanke as far as specific discussions on the SE is concerned. He doesn't matter to us in that regard. We can only talk about him when talking about football generaĺly.

Pray for Oshimen to start playing first before you compare him with Solanke.

If both comes good it is for our benefit but to turn blind eyes and say all is well with Oshimen is the major problem here.

I have reiterated the fact that players like Osimhen are down the packing order. But I know that when a man is down what he needs is encouragement not constant criticism.
On what basis will I compare Solanke to Osimhen. I don't really care about Solanke. I have the barest knowledge about him. I am only saying to kome.kn that he should expand his mind. I have never read him criticize any of the British born players as much as he has criticised Osimhen. Are you telling me that Osimhen is the worst player ever?

Mujtahida:

Rashidi was an integral member of the SE long before he went to Setubal. Now I discovered that the year (1990)Rashidi joined Setubal they were in the second division. Got promoted in the 93/94 season(the season he ranked as the highest goal scorer in the Portuguese league) and were relegated again in the 94/95 season. So basically our main striker played in a second division team that had a cameo appearance in the first division for just one season throughout the time our main SE attacker was there. In other words Rashidi basically was playing for a division two side in PORTUGAL! Going by your philosophy Rashidi will not near the SE not to talk of donning the Jersey and playing as our top nine. But here you are today celebrating him.

I discovered also that Ikpeba joined Monaco in 1993 struggled and only began to offer something in 1996 and by the 97/98 season he was the indisputable Prince of Monaco. That means he was struggling in Monaco for three seasons under Arsene Wenger but he later got it right. Today he is being named as one of the hot players but he was in the SE in 94 before he started scoring for his club. Going by your philosophy as you have shown towards Iheanacho, Ikpeba will not smell SE as at 94 through 96 when he was struggling. Iheanacho has done just one season in Leicester(and you know he had a good record in man city) and yet once you see his name you reel out putdowns (I can't call them criticisms because I don't think what you do is criticism anymore). Osimhen, a teenager is struggling at Wolfsburg in his first season yet you dish out putdowns lavishly.

The history of football shows that players struggle sometimes just like in every other endeavour in life. Not many know that Henry struggled while in Italy. It was on a fortuitous meeting with Arsene Wenger on a plane flight that Wenger told Henry that he was a striker not a winger and that meeting changed his life forever. Here's Wikipedia excerpt on Henry:Henry left Monaco in January 1999, one year before his intimate and closest teammate David Trezeguet, and moved to Italian club Juventus for £10.5 million.[2] He played on the wing,[9] but he was ineffective against the defensive discipline exhibited by teams in Serie A, struggling in a position that was uncharacteristic for him, scoring just three goals in 16 appearances.[10]

I think even Van Basten or gullit or Rijkaard (I can't remember which one of them) struggled first season in Milan before hitting their strides. And so many players have struggled like this. So why not ease up on this boys for now and come on them say at least two seasons from now?

@bolded is a false information because Rashidi Yekini was the 5 highest goal scorer in the Portuguese league with 12 or 15 goals in 1990/1991 season. Meaning he didn't join Setubal when dey were in division 2 though it was relegated the same season.

He was the highest goal scorer in the second division for two seasons before he went to division 1 to prove that his performance in division 2 were no flukes by becoming the highest goal scorer there. After that, he left for Olympiacos for the 1994/1995 season.

Meaning he played two seasons in the Portuguese league. Besides, Rashidi was already the top goal scorer in Afcon 1990, top goal scorer in the best leagues in Africa at that time before he went to Setubal.

It is just like Mikel Obi and Ighalo going to China.

Moreover, Ikpeba was the best African player in Belgium 1993 after scoring 17 league goals and after he helped his club to win the Belgium cup in 1990. This was what propelled him to the second
best club in France which was the second best league in Europe. Remember, he went to replace the one time African best player of the year George Weah who went to PSG and was up against Klinnsman, Thierry Henry and David Trezegue. Nevertheless, Ikpeba scored 6 goals out of 9 matches in UEFA Champions league league that helped them to reach the Semi finals. Since, he started all those matches ahead of one of those top players, don't you think he was rated then? Sure, he played some league games too.

Ikpeba was going up. Different senerio.
