sinizia: That may be true but Pep met KDB, Silva, Aguero and Sterling on ground. Who did Mourinho meet on ground in that class bracket? Martial arguably. So just catching up to some of the players Pep met on ground alone will take severe investment. Not holding brief for JM cos he thought he only needed 4 signings but that is the fact you are not considering. 1 Like |

"Zlatan is one month out. I don't know about [Romelu] Lukaku. Of course, you miss your striker and your target man. You only have two attacking players on the bench, Rashford and [Anthony] Martial and you lose one of them immediately. "I wanted a third change late in the game and I didn't have a third attacking player so that's difficult." - JOSE MOURINHO |

"I am happy with the players' attitudes and desires. I have no complaint about my players. I think the performance was a big-hearted performance with the players giving everything due to their limits. "The majority of them, with the accumulation of matches, their performance was with very good quality on creation, where we have missed chances and half-chances with crosses and balls in the face of the goal. They are half-chances if you arrive on time." - JOSE MOURINHO 1 Like |

[quote author=sinizia post=63765411]Let me make my stance clear, I'm no Mourinho hater. I don't want him sacked, if I'd written such in the past it's outta anger after a frustrating match. I prefer the United under Mourinho than that of Gaal or Nwoyes. I still want the club to support him financially so he won't blame them if he doesn't deliver next season. He shouldn't be given a new contract till the team have improved. But, Mourinho should've gotten us playing better than we're currently playing if he knows what he's doing. How we play will determine how far we'll go in the long run. We've no identity, no plan, no tactics. Nothing. We're everywhere on the pitch but still nowhere. Liverpool has an attacking identity, apart from City, no team in the EPL attacks more than them. The lack of good defenders is their major problem. But with United, you'll be confused on what we're actually playing. We don't defend greatly, we don't attack greatly. So what's Mourinho teaching these lads in training? I want a good digger to dig up my post before last season, I said my objectives for Mourinho was 1. Get us back into UCL. 2. Make us to play good exciting football that's sorely lacking under LvG. I never ever demanded the league title from him instantly because I knew this team needed upgrades, but I wanted him to bring a good playing style for us because I'm a firm believer that how you play determines how far we'll go in a season or even in future. Last season beginning , Chelsea were struggling, after losing twice, Conte changed tactics, a tactic that paid off and he stuck with it through out. Lack of continental matches and the fact that his squad were always fresh helped him, but it's a change of tactic, a winning tactic that catalysed that success. But for a Mourinho, a season and half gone and NO SINGLE TACTIC to win matches from him. He keeps experimenting with formations and players, he's yet to know what works for the team. Young has played a RB, LB, winger. Rashford has played as a LW, RW and even CF. Martial almost the same. Mhikitaryan has been used as an AM, RW, LW, Mourinho has not gotten a solution. Darmian has played both LB and RB. Blind, both CB and LB. There is so much confusion in the squad. Pogba nko? If he's to praised when we win, why can't we blame him when we lose as well? Man City have a better squad than us, have overthrow years acquired better players than us, but THE MAJOR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN US AND THEM IS GUARDIOLA AND HIS WORKING FORMULA. Anybody saying otherwise is delusional. Stones was great, he got injured and Kompany entered, tge winning run continued. Kompany went out injured, Mangala slotted in effortlessly, tge winning run continued. Mendy injured, Delph takes over, the winning run is safe. Same for Jesus and Aguero. Guandogan, Bernado Silva have slotted in when called upon and the winning is non-stop. So injury or no injury, THE PLAYING PATTERN STAYS THE SAME. That tactic is the main reason they're good coz no matter who plays, he plays the Guardiola way. It's been ingrained in them. This man has the best winning runs in Spain, Germany and England. It's no coincidence. It's not a fluke. He brings his tactics, get players that adapts to it and wins with it. Mourinho needs a working formula. For now he has none. His excuse is about finance. Pep has spent more than him by 74.8 million pounds. That money in the hands of Mourinho will get maybe a Van Dijk and still the problem is not solved. He can spend all he wants, but if he doesn't find a way to make his signings work, it'll be a waste of money. Last season, both Mourinho and Pep didn't have a great EPL season. Pep analysed his team and spent huge money to get THE RIGHT PLAYERS IN POSITIONS HE WANTED BOLSTERED. HE DIDN'T GET ALL HIS TARGETS. Mourinho also analysed his and deemed just 4 positions worthy of bolstering. To the best of our PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE, he didn't request for 6 additions and got 3. Unless he wanted more and Ed promised him just 4, then I can't blame Ed. Most of us pointed out we needed a LB, 2 CBs (to partner Bailly since Rojo was injured, Smalling mediocre, and Jones injury prone), RW, DM, CF to replace Ibra and an AM/SS like Griezmann. With all these glaring defences, Mourinho said we needed just 4 players. But midway into the new season, he's realised what we saw since last season. My questions are was he blind all this while not to have noticed we needed more than 4 additions? Didn't he know Ibra was old and finished when he's giving him a new contract at 36 years with an ACL injury? I was among those that wanted him out by all means even if it's through injury. If he knew Shaw wasn't up to the quality LB he wanted, why go into the season with Young and Darmian as a LB? Why didn't he task Ed for a new LB? Is he suffering from amnesia? You needed a LW but kept quiet pursuing Perisic all through and only started flirting with Bale before the season started and with no hope of signing him? Why are you still blaming Ed? Why can't Mourinho for once accept he's at fault for not requesting for more? He openly said he wanted only 4. So how's Ed to be blamed? I'm at lost as to why Mourinho is realising he needs more. He'd accept his L in peace and find a way to turn things around. I still believe in him, but firstly he needs to accept that things are not going well and his players are playing rubbish. Only when he accepts that, looks deep into finding a solution will he be able to turn things around. Talking about other clubs will not save him. He'd concentrate on his club. [/quo Wow!.... Great piece . What a good writer you are. thumbs up 1 Like |

Ibime: I admitted that City have better players than us. I also admitted that City had gradually invested in better players over the years than us. I'm also aware that my team is not good enough, that's why I didn't set a high expectation for Mourinho. But the playing pattern which was very important to me, Mou had not yet addressed it. We don't play good football. We don't attack or defend well. Klopp and Pep attacks. Conte is well known for being defensive minded with his formations. But with United, we're neither here or there. It's tiring. 1 Like |

"Craig Pawson is a fantastic referee, one of the most promising referees in Europe, and it was bad for him. It was one of the key points. The other key points were easy goals that we missed. Another key point was David De Gea's save on the Shane Long shot. But the clear, clear point, especially with a result at 0-0, is a clear penalty that was not given. I watched on the touchline and it looked to me very clear, but it's 50 metres distance, so I gave the referee the benefit of the doubt. "I know my players and, when I see players like Juan Mata almost in hysterics claiming, I could understand immediately - no doubt. And then, at half-time, I watch it and it is a penalty like Marcus Rashford at Leicester was a penalty, like Ander Herrera against Manchester City was a penalty and it is unlucky because honestly I told you that and I repeat without a problem, that the three referee performances, Michael Oliver against City, Jon Moss against Leicester and Craig tonight were good referees with good performances, but unlucky decisions for us that punished us." - JOSE MOURINHO |

Zlatan is out for a Month, Lukaku also is out probably for 6 Weeks, hence United need to sign a Striker in January or James Wilson is drafted into the first Team. I expect JM to play 3 - 5 - 2 in the next Match. Martial and Rashford to lead the Attack; Mata as a Creator in the Midfield, with Pogba and Matic behind him; Young and Shaw as Wing backs. Then the Trio of Lindelof, Jones and Rojo at the back. |

PietroRico: I prefer the 352/343 hybrid too especially the 352, and I feel it's system that will work well where we start 3 CBs of Bailly, Jones and either of Smalling or Lindeolf. But for it to work, Valencia must play. We need a defensive wing-back that can attack as wellas defend and Young doesn't cut it in a RB position. If we get Rose or a good LB, 352 will suit us well. |

Ibime: The 4-3-3 will do scummies a hell lot of good. Matic as the anchor, will sit deep, collecting the ball from his CBs and launching attacks. Whilst Pogba and another B2B player will be involved in the running around, stretching the midfield horizontally and vertically to create options for the pass. They seem to be having hard times dictating the pace of the game of late. JM has failed in his bid to play to the gallery. He ditched his old system so as to show how much of a flexible gaffer he is, but that seem to be backfiring. 1 Like 1 Share |

Look at us.. We now have factions of real fans against the fake fans. Let's just keep failing then so the man can go. This shameless pro and anti-Mourinho should just end jeje so we can have peace. He's the only manager in world football i know that if we were 1st on the log and 20 points clear he'll still be hated with passion even by many of us here and called arrogant and all...Let him just fail and go so maybe the 'i told you so' s' which are at the detriment of the team, arm for the trolls here and shame to the club can end. 1 Like |

This team is missing something! Ideas.....the fact that some key players in defence midfield and attack are now going to be missing for a while even makes this more vital than it already is! We will be 3rd for a short while....Jose needs to make those sweeping changes that would encourage those working hard for a chance in the team and actually show those who are under performing that they are not sacred cows. Recall Perreira, play mactominay, gomes and some of the fringe guys more...bring new signings in both attack and the fullback position this january to lift the fans and even the players....even ferguson looked frustrated yesterday...I think he should have a meeting with jose and the team if possible today or tomorrow! Jose has always been hailed by all his ex players/workers as a master motivator so why is he finding it hard to motivate some of these lads to fight for the shirt and points? |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Nobody: 1:29pm On Dec 31, 2017 |
joeace2020:that’s because if Mou was by chance in Pep’s shoes leading by 15 points he would have been throwing both subtle and direct jabs at his counterparts. This is why his failures are blown out of proportion. I can remember a game where Mou stretched out his hands to shake the opposition manager so he can walk into the tunnel when the game still had abt 5mins to go simply because he was already leading by a wide margin and knew he’s winning the game anyway(of course the handshake was ignored on the day). This same Mou was caught whispering to Conte on respect last season after being trashed, tutoring City fans and players on respect this season. The guy is the architect of all these. He is the self acclaimed special one he has to be 10/10 all the time anything less the jury will pounce its that simple. 1 Like |

weedtaker: Although it is hard to believe any prediction that City will lose, I can't hide my likeness for your kind of mind. All these guys wey dey scatter here with sack sack, na their kind their child go carry 4th position from 1st in previous term, instead of them look at the issue critically, dem go flog bastard from the child head. In the beginning of the season, my friend has it on record that I told him despite we were first and Chelsea down on the table, Man City and Chelsea were playing better football than us. He was of the the opposite opinion. This team never looked complete to me even when we were winning 4-0, I knew we had to keep players fit and hope for Ibra and Rojo to add positively to the team to be able to compete for the title. When we were winning 4-0, one thing I noticed. City and Chelsea have players that can hold, drive and dribble with the ball confidently without losing it. Hazard, Moses, William, Kante are very strong on the ball and move fast. City attackers are intelligent dribblers, when you have many dribblers in one team, it is hard to stop them. But United and Tottenham mostly rellied on passing. Tottenham pass faster. United pass slowly. No one is able to keep the ball strongly while around final third. The two players who are stong on the ball are in the deep - Valencia and Matic. These are the two guys I think are hard to dispossess, but let us not forget Matic is slow. We could add Bailly who plays with so much confidence as another player you cannot be dispossessed no matter how long he stays on the ball. One of the first solution in this team is to get an attacking player (someone like Neymar) who causes lots of trouble while with the ball. He is not in a hurry to release it, but even in tight zones he is keeping it, playing fast and turning defenders. Martial could have been the one, but he loses the ball too easily or lacks sense of what to do next when closed down. 2 Likes |
