Honestly it's quite sad.

I'm Catholic but I don't have issues with people of other denominations. I even roll with them well to exchange ideas. But it seems most people have a problem with Catholicism, because people hate and fear what they don't understand.

Well, our case is almost the same, I was born a catholic converted into pentcostalism as a child when my parents left the catholic church. I even left the Christianity entirely at a certain point because religion became a complete bore to me. To cut the long story short, I fell helplessly in love with the most wonderful girl I have ever met in all my years. She is a catholic (hardcore) the only thing that stood as a stumbling block for me marrying her was the same thing I ran away from (religion). I have agreed to convert into a catholic to marry her(people who know me are still amazed at my decision) why because she is worth every bit of it. Hell will go cold if religion would be what would stop me from marrying her.
I shifted grounds because she was worth it to me. The question here is this, is he worth it? So you won't wake up tomorrow with a serious case of had I known. Think well and stand by what you have decided.


Note: Me converting is just to consecrate the marriage in the catholic church, after that, to your tents o Isreal. But anything can still happen down the line, since I practically don't even have a church in the first place.

Witnessed this exact same scenario many years ago, the guy is now with the girl as a pastor.
Almost 20+ years and counting still waxing strong.

I'm sure you don't know 2 rats about the Catholic Church on a personal level. You have never attended 1 mass all your life or gone for Cathecism classes. Probably someone told you "oh the worship Mary". You just swallowed it hook, line and sinker. Even my Priest reiterated yestermorn that us Catholics don't worship Mary. Never have, never will. So where idiots who get such fallacies get it from still surprises me.

So being a Catholic would send you to hell? Is that it? Obviously you have no idea how much Catholicism has impacted to Christianity. All the Pentecostal churches joined together can't do 1%...oh, apart from Tithe thing. Our Priest told us that tithing is alien to Christianity. We borrowed it from the Jews. The reason why we tithe is to get money to take care of the church. He didn't tell us stories of how God told him tithing is compulsory or if you don't tithe you'd be poor or attach blessings to tithe. I don't know what Pentecostal pastor can be that honest.

But I don't blame y'all for discriminating Catholics. To be a Catholic demands a certain level of intelligence. You'd be exposed to basics of philosophy and theology even as a normal member. You get to convince yourself of certain facts, and not just because your pastor told you so.

Christianity and Islam have nothing in common so I cant understand what winning means to you.

A born again Christian has clear instructions/precepts succinctly outlined for them in the Bible. The Christian vocation is much more than winning a popularity/likability contest.

It is about having the conviction that one's conduct is pleasing Jesus, The Author of the profession.

Believers are wont to obey Jesus at the risk of not being darlings of the world.

It's pretty sad. You can imagine what they would have told this lady about the Catholic church but laziness won't let her do research. Once you start dating, you are to consider everything necessary. Your Pentecostal brothers(filled with the holy spirit) saw you but didn't ask for your hand in marriage but a catholic(lacking the holy spirit, according to you) saw you good for marriage. The holy spirit is in catholic church(were 2 or 3 are gathered in my name, i'm there in their midst) just that the priests don't shout/jump like your pastor.

It's hard to give up on Christ what you already know, she had already found the truth in Christ.
My wife and I are on the same boat, even Thur I love my wife dearly and she became a born again Christian, she was starting to have that personal freedom with Jesus, listening to him-but deep down her heart was with the Catholic Church, where she grew up.

The couple will have many differences, they both need to have that willingness to share in each's ones beliefs. Not just one sided.
My wife believes in the Catholic Church, she believes when she was baptised as a baby her own parents had made the right decision for her spiritual growth-until she herself dies. She believes she is already saved, before given her heart over to become a born again Christian and receiving the Holy Spirit.
So you see my King James bible reads different, from the catholic bible, and these are the problems this lady will front up against, at times it will be frustrating for both of them, like it is for us..

So with this ladies little problem, it could become a bigger problem, she needs the Lord more, like never before.

Aunty, I am a Catholic. I know about and I believe the gifts and workings of the Holy Spirit. So, I don't know what you mean by all these.

You are scared/worried because you don't have adequate knowledge of the Bible. If you do, Anty, you won't have any fear about the Catholic doctrines. I was personally convinced by the Holy Spirit about everything being preached by the church; that's why I still remain a Catholic today.

I blame that guy you want to marry. Looks like he doesn't know that he has the duty of guiding you and teaching you about the Catholic faith. He needs to understand his duty as your new pastor and spiritual director.

As for me, I know I'm going to heaven. If your motive is about going to heaven and not just about sticking to your old method of serving God, then you won't have any fear about the Catholic Church.
