Scholes
said that after a run of 3 uninspiring draws and Pogba didn't necessarily cover himself in glory or stand out particularly in those matches, so Scholes was right.

With the way Pogba and Matic had "snail-like" performance against Southampton, Scholes was doubting his fitness because he wasn't covering much ground which a player that's fit like Pogba should try and do. Mentioning the £90m may be going too far considering how Pogba has improved earlier this season but Scholes still said this below.

That was Scholes reaffirming Pogba's quality and talent and expecting him to do more. He also blames Mourinho for playing him in a position that doesn't allow him showcase his talent optimally. What we saw the next match (yesterday) was Mourinho moving Pogba forward and changing his tactic. We also saw Pogba putting in the shift that Scholes was talking about. So you see, that criticism can be said in playing a part in our changed game yesterday.

I actually watched the punditry after the southampton game and scholes was saying that he watched a lot of pogba at juventus and that pogba was never a midfield controller... all he did was run around while pirlo pulled the strings

Essentially Pogba = Ramires with a fancy haircut.

Zing.

Scholesy too hotty.

There is nothing constructive about throwing doubt on whether a player is giving his best in training.

Fork that ginger.

Happy New year everybody.

That classic approach have gotten him falling out with everyone at his past two clubs and getting removed. It may have been tolerated when he's still heralded as the best thing after Ferguson, right now it's no longer working.
klopp smiled with the media
and hugged all his players and still got sacked.

In the end na output be the most important thing.
It doesn't matter how nice or mean a manager is, he will get sacked if he doesn't produce.

So we dey leave the really important thing here

saying Pogba didn't cover ground is probably not true. Anyone can go bring the heat map of that game.
The entire team was lethargic, so it wasn't a Pogba issue issue.

If we continue to drag this we will keep veering further and further away from the argument because new areas of disagreement will keep popping up.
It is at this point I'll drop my pen.
Happy new year

Heat map doesn't show how much ground you covered. It is the number of KM covered.

The number of KM covered has to be broken down to the:

KM covered with top sprint
KM covered with sprint
KM with light sprint
KM with normal jogging
KM covered walking

Midfielders usually cover highest KM, but not with top sprint or sprint. Generally, United players don't cover as high as Liverpool, Tottenham, City, Arsenal and Chelsea. That was when I saw it last season and early this season.

You would be surprised that Kante would be covering so much with sprint

"I think the only thing Paul Scholes does is to criticise. I don't think he comments, I think he criticises, which is a different thing.

"But not every one of us has to be phenomenal like he was as a player. He was a phenomenal player, that doesn't mean that we all have to be phenomenal.

"Paul [Pogba] tries to do his best all the time. Sometimes he plays very well, sometimes he plays well and sometimes he doesn't play so well.

"It's not Paul's fault that he made much more money than Paul Scholes. It's not Paul's fault. It's just the way football is.

""But I think Scholes will be in the history like a phenomenal player, not as a pundit, so I prefer to look at him as a phenomenal player who gave so much to the club that I am proud to represent.

""If Paul one day decides to be a manager I wish that he can be 25 per cent as successful as myself, because 25% of 25 [trophies] is around six. So if he's 25% he'll be quite happy.

"But in my mind Paul Scholes was a phenomenal player, one of the best players I have ever seen playing in midfield, and he gave so much to my club that I only can thank him for that because the prestige of this club is based on people like him."

- JOSE MOURINHO
Oh my gawd....Mourinho please you are taking this too far, i never expected this from you.

Heat map is basically anywhere you went to on the pitch, it's not a correct benchmark to determine distance covered. Someone could've been to many places on the pitch but with a lazy motion. Scholes also talked about the whole team being lethargic, maybe you missed it.

“United look a tired team, they look like they have played 50 or 60 games this season already and we are half way through. I know the crowd were quiet but you have to give them something. They gave them absolutely nothing, it was dead out there.

“I swear to God, they need to liven up, this team, because top four isn’t even guaranteed from this moment. You have got some good teams in there - Tottenham, Liverpool, Arsenal - and they will all be challenging.”

Let's move on from it. Happy new year, bro.

Im not really here to debate your opinion bro.

I just quoted your club legend's comments on your club record signing.

That level of savagery was last seen on screen in the movie 'the revenant'.

As at November 8th, we were covering the least distance. We were 20th on the distance table.

Is it not some of the things I have been saying that we don't work hard. We don't press for the ball.

The players who covered most ground per match last season. No Manchester United player.

Mourinho has to learn not to pamper and over protect players.

Actually, even last season, United covered the least ground among the top 5. In short don't be surprised if for the last 4 seasons, we've covered the least grounds amongst the top 5. That's been the theme of our play for years now. We play lazy football. We start brightly, score and start loitering about, soaking up pressure. It's what we've complained about that Jose has to add more urgency and speed to our game play. We have to have to attack more, close down opponents faster so we can snuff any threat they will unleash. That's one thing Tottenham, Chelshit, City and Co have over us.

Guardiola has implemented the "6 secs rule" and it's working like Magic for City. Mourinho needs to make this guys press harder as a way of defending.

Just imagine. Very very disgusting from our players and Mourinho their coach. Mourinho has to shoulder the blame coz it's up to him to make his team cover much ground.

Sinizia ive spent the last few days in a state of near perpertual intoxication, so i didnt remember Scholes comments on Pogba very accurately.

Scholes: "I watched Pogba a lot a Juventus, he was a worker, he was a runner....but the real footballer was Pirlo

Yeezus.

The sass on that man.

He don extend the fake fans vs real fans debate reach Pogba side.

Pogba is not a real footballer - Paul Scholes

See again last season in sprints.

Manchester United rank low down on the list for sprints, too, with their total of 5210 putting them 15th in the Premier League rankings.

West Ham are bottom of that category, with Manchester City leading the way. Pep Guardiola's side, whose intensity was too much for Arsenal on Sunday, have racked up 6198 sprints - over 200 more than second-placed Watford and nearly 1000 more than title rivals United.

he is right. Mourinho dey always aggressively protect some players and I can understand why, but it shouldn't get to the point where it becomes like they at being pampered.

Remember one game when Lukaku played rubbish and Mourinho praised him for making a tackle at left back grin

I'm not saying that is over pampering and I totally get why he had to do that. But the line isn't very far away. Plus there's nothing to suggest that he didn't correct him behind closed doors.. For that example.
