you guys should stop misleading students especially the freshers. How will you compare the situation in UI with Polyibadan? UI is in second semester while poly is preparing to start a new calendar which will require students to register... The service of the striking workers is compulsory, it can nt be undermined. The confusion created by those misleading the public is enormous to the extent that most of them even disregarded the information from the sch which stated 15th January towards believing that the sch resumes today.

FYI,

No one is misleading anyone here, You need to have a grassroot understanding of the genesis of this strike. If not, people that reason like you will only keep giving the public a poisonous misinterpretation.

The school management concluded to call off the strike & resumes jan15 and released the information via media. It was not in the Memo released that Nasu strike has been called off but Academic activities commence jan15.

Subsequently, Polyibadan among all the affected Tertiary institutions is sufficient enough to generate their IGR to meet up their expenses due to various monetary policies. e.g Dpp program.

Fyi, Academic staffs are not on strike

This morning, Nasu took over the resumption saga, counter the decision of the Management, & get the school gate locked. That doesn't has a reflection on the action(s) taken by the management. Where were they when they took the bold decision? Mind you, Unilag commence their registration already without Nasu, Oau already resumes without Nasu, UI commence their exams today without Nasu.

My dear, Academic activities can commence in the school without Nasu & don't be surprised if eventually the Sch truly re-opens cum January15.

We hope they get the issue resolved via a tête a tête between both parties involved.

Peace!!!

Despite the purported announcement of resumption by the management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, the strikings workers on Monday insisted that the gates of the institution remained until the demands of the workers are met by the state government.
The management had at the weekend directed all students to resumed after about nine weeks of strike occasioned by the academic and non-academic staff unions across the six tertiary institutions owned by the Oyo state government.
Particularly, the management had on Saturday asked new students to begin payment of acceptance fee from Monday while announcing January 15, 2017 as the date for resumption for the 2017/2018 session.
But, the Chairman, Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the trade unions of the six Oyo state-owned tertiary institutions, Mr Babatunde Adeniyi said that the services of its striking staff remain withdrawn.
According to the accounts of some students who had stormed the school entrance gate to resume in accordance to the directive of the management, members of the striking Non-Academic Staff Union who were on hand to ensure that the directive was defiled ensure both the student and staff were denied entrance into the institution.
The accounts added that although the some of the students were almost making things go out of hand, the NASU officials took the pain to explain the implications of the government decision that led to the strike action to the students.
Speaking on why the staff union picketed the institution and ensure the gates remained closed, Adeniyi insisted that the Oyo state government must settle its salary arrears before the unions would call off their two months old strike.
“We picketed The Polytechnic, Ibadan, because Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) has withdrawn their services and we are here to ensure that the gate remains closed.
“What the two unions, (NASU and SSANIP) are saying is that their services still stays withdrawn as long as the strike declared by the six institutions as a result of the reduction of salary to 25 percent by the Oyo state government still remains.
“They can’t resume until we suspend our strike. The six unions declared the strike on November 2, 2017, and this remains. Their services stay withdrawn and the strike continues until the government of Oyo state does the needful,” Babatunde said.
Meanwhile, state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Adeniyi Olowofela maintained that the state only gives support in form of monthly subvention to the tertiary institutions, adding that there is no month all the institutions don’t get “something” from the state government but in varying amounts.
Olowofela who stated this, on Monday, said the state did not owe salaries of tertiary institutions’ staff but that it provided subventions to the institutions just as it paid out workers’ salaries.
He pointed out that government only support the institutions since they all generate some revenue on their own and spend same without the government interference.
He harped on the need for the management of the institutions to be ingenious on generating revenue internally and prioritizing how they expend the subventions they get.
Olowofela, however, said that the state government would, in the next two weeks, name the governing council for the state-owned tertiary institutions, to give lasting recommendations on resolving the impasse.

Five Reasons Why Most Candidates May Fail Jamb 2018
As JAMB 2018 draws even closer by the day, we will be analyzing Five Reasons Why Most Candidates May Fail Jamb 2018 and how not to be among them, it will be of immense help to read the article below.
Five Reasons Why Most Candidates May Fail Jamb 2018
1. The social media frenzy coupled with the easy accessibility to the internet easily distract these candidates from concentrating on their preparation for the JAMB examination. These group of candidates hardly open their books till few days before JAMB examination. They are the ones who rain insults on JAMB online on seeing their dismal performance in the UTME. They hardly use the JAMB syllabus, past question or software. In order to avoid being this kind of candidate, embrace seriousness and dedicate yourself to studying for the examination. Failure is bitter, but it is tragically traumatic knowing it is you are the cause of it. No pain, no gain. So commit yourself to reading and preparing for the examination.
2. There’s a deep dependence on religion and the supernatural, that candidates rarely focus on their examination pursuit. They spend hours and hours in religious activities, but spend little times in their examination. They trust all kind of myths that exposit tales of success by wholesome dedication to religious activities at the detriment of actual examination preparation ( Reading of books). It’s as simple as ABC, if you fail to prepare adequately, you adequately prepare to fail. There is no other way to avoid failure than preparing effectively by dedicating yourself on marathon reading and study, and using auxiliaries like past questions and syllabus.
3. The widespread fear and restless by candidates during the period of JAMB examination is a contributory factor to failure in the examination. These fear is based on irrational bias, and it tend to undermine the confidence of any candidate that embrace it. Self-confidence is a necessary ingredient for examination success but fear decimate self-confidence. So, don’t give up or lose hope in your preparation or abilities to succeed, work harder and be inspired. Victory will smile on you.
4.Some candidates are specialists in cramming, their inability to understand whatever they are reading underlines this heinous act. Cramming doesn’t help
5. Not Seeking help when you need it!

If you find this post helpful, don't forget to share it to your relatives.

Food for thought

Government are insisting that institution generate 75% of their salary while 25% will be paid by the Government

Fact- lecturer have call off their strike while Non teaching staff & co remain static

Fact- if the institution should reach an agreement on Quota 75% to 25% ..the institution will Emphasis mainly on school fee . Which means school fee will be hike

Copied

Any news
