2018 World Cup: Why Musa, Iheanacho may not make my squad – Rohr

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Gernot Rohr has told Kelechi Iheanacho and Ahmed Musa to move away from Leicester City.

The Nigerian forwards have struggled for regular playing time since joining the Foxes from Manchester City and CSKA Moscow respectively.

With less than six months to the World Cup in Russia, the Super Eagles technical adviser has warned that players struggling for form and regular playing time at their various clubs are not likely to make his World Cup squad.

The Franco-German coach told SuperSport, “My plan is to execute the World Cup with the players who are playing regularly with their respective clubs.

“How do you expect a coach to jet out to Russia with average players who lack playing time?

“I do take my time to visit various club sides in Europe to beg the coaches to build my players’ mind towards a great competition like the FIFA World Cup.

“I’m sad the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho and Ahmed Musa lack playing time at Leicester City. I and my scouts took time to pay their coach a visit, but we realised their case are getting worse.

“I hope they keep fighting for shirts to get a playing time or quit the club for a better team willing to give them playing time to showcase their talent,” he concluded.

which Musa is hitting Turkey?

Musa hitting Turkey is about as reliable as Iheanacho moving to Southampton, did you hear that one?

How will I advise him? Do I know him?

so, you have not confirmed it? But there is a move? The same way Etebo is moving to Porto abi?

So, Kelechi is not a reliable striker for us again? Or has he failed you in the Super Eagles recently?

Anyway, there is still Southampton interest and the fans want him. Read it up

PS: We do not have capable replacement for Kelechi

There's MORE THAN ENOUGH space for Iheanacho and Musa in our 32 Man WC list irrespective of them getting playing time in their respective clubside or not.

He could have simply said the duo MIGHT not feature in games or be a regular starter in the WORLD CUP.

Bullsheet at the end.

To be honest they need to be playing regularly to get a chance, but sadly in Nigeria everything is man know man, Roth will chill if ogas at top give orders.

Other players that need to discarded are Onazi and Echiejile , some of the boys that played last Olympics games like Sadiq who plays for Roma should be invited. Ezenwa should be number 1 keeper it will be a big mistake to recall enyeama, last last he will go and be like Rufai at France 98 cos he is living on past glory

Which one is this coach is overrated, check Leicester lineup every weekend, musa hardly makes it to the bench, I feel the coach is right about dropping them, This is world cup, so they have to be in form

Iheanacho needs to step up his game. Leicester ain't even using him again. I think he should consider a smaller club where he can start featuring more in matches so his talent, if he's got one, can be truly utilised.

Musa was good. I dunno what happened.

When we said Nacho's move to Mancity was as grave as a posting to Afghanistan people kicked. Fast forward two years and see the beginning of the end of a once promising career. If he had gone to the continent and to the so called second tier countries such as Belgium, Holland or Portugal, chances are that he will be playing regularly in a league that suits his moderate pace and style and can build his technique to suit bigger and better leagues. The premiership is for mid age finished foreign imports who have a great resume and plenty of hot air behind them. By the time Kanu came to Arsenal he wad already a Champions league winner with Ajax. Same as Finidi before heading to Spain. But see Amuneke. Africa and straight to Barca and puff within a blink of an eye.
