I've actually been noticing this now. I intend to get an e46 but all the ones I've been seeing seem too low. I am coming from a b6 passat, and I know the way my stomach turned in fear whenever the bottom grazed the ground. Which way forward? I don't want to buy a car from Germany and end up ruining the lower spoilers on our roads and speedbumps cry cry

Hi.

I will not advise that you "upgrade your wheels" as someone here is suggesting. Using wheels not recommended for your car by the manufacturers has a lot of disadvantages.

Ensure that you use the recommended spec (factory fitted) of wheels for your car.

If the roads in your area are that bad, by all means you should consider other BMW models.

Mine is a 2.5ltr 6 cylinder engine and it goes for 120k. But the seller has agreed to buy my bad engine for 20k, this means, I'll only pay him 100k for the engine.
While, the small engine of 1.8ltr, which is a 4 cylinder engine goes for 100k.

Hi, being following ur convo..interesting. We seems to drive d same Beemer type, E46, v6 with 2.5 lite engine. Transmission is auto, bro.. I love ds car die. My issues currently is to change the engine and the gear. I spoke to my mechanic of abt 3 yrs now is asking for 169k for engine and I made my own findings for the gear for abt 75k. These costs are huge considering my financial status right now but I need to do it as well as I am not enjoying my car as I want to.

I drive a BMW 3 series E90 (2007). It's low, when compared to other cars but that's because its designed to function as a sports car. I have the occassional scratching of the underbody with the ground but I'm usually careful about where I go with the car. For me, and just like you, I really cant drive anything else because of the power and control that comes with driving a BMW, you'd hardly find that in anyother car in its class (or lower). Treat a BMW right, and it'll take care of you, that's my motto.

Before the 2007, i used a 3 series coupe 93. It was the most beautiful car in the world to me, till I got the 2007 and I've kept the right maintainance culture/attitude up until now and so I really have no worries. One key thing is to identify an Auto Mechanic who has the right experience and technical skills on BMWs. I can recommend an auto service center, if you don't mind, and I'll encourage you to call them. Exclusive Autos and Parts, they are located in Lagos Isalnd. You can call me on 08055096969 for more information or call Seyi on 08136749727 to schedule an appointment. They have a diagnostic tool used for fault finding and their prices (for services) are very affordable.

Hi guys.

Just wanted to put this out there if anyone is interested.

2007 BMW 525i for sale- Kindly contact Arinze on 08033880013 09090636609.

I also noticed there are not many 5 series owners here. I do see quite a few on the roads but it seems the general consensus is that the 3 series is a more popular choice. Any reason why the 5 series is not so favoured?

I have always heard that the correct thing to do after increasing your wheel size is to calibrate your odometer/speedometer or brainbox or something to compensate, else you'll be having marginally wrong readings on your speedometer. For instance, 18inch wheels will cover more distance on one revolution than 17inch wheels. Has anyone every carried out this measure before? I am an intending e4 owner, but my issues already include the low clearance of the car (the slope to my gate is pretty steep, and it removed my bumper the first time i tried it on my Passat).

I dey fear, abeg, I need my future BMW to be in top shape at all times because I intend to use it for a while.

Nothing like that . My speedometer reading is same.
I don't get speeding fine when I go past a speed camera at 30 on my clock

The 5 series is bigger and comes with biger engines .
PS are U selling this car @jiji as well?
Re: BMW Owners' Forum by IndigoGray: 3:12pm On Feb 14, 2018
Yes it is on Jiji as well. trying to get maximum exposure. Is the bigger engine the reason for its perceived unreliability? I much prefer the 5 series to a 3 series.
