Good evening every one. Its been a while though I have been reading the thread from pages to pages. Mehn.....the more you read, the more you discover how stupid you have been. My advise to newbies is to read everything on this thread religiously, you are really doing yourself a huge favor. I got accepted by University of Manitoba last year to study MSc. Agribusiness and Agricultural Economics for winter but got delayed in October based on the fact that that I was unable to satisfy the Visa Officer that I would leave Canada at the end of my stay based on purpose of visit, limited employment prospects in my country of residence, my current employment situation, my personal assets and financial status. I was not really cleared on those reasons because I thought I put in a strong application so I ordered for my GCMSnote which state "pa completed a university degree in home country and has been following a career since. Now wishes to study for a Master's degree at University of Manitoba in order to enhance career prospects. Cost of studies is rather significant in light of pa's/family financial situation and am not satisfied that any possible increase in income in future would justify such significant expense. Studies to be supported by parents. There is no indication that pa's parents are or were gainfully employed. am not satisfied that pa's ties to home country are sufficient to compel pa to leave Canada at the end of authorized stay and that motivation to study is genuine. am not satisfied that pa's career prospect in home country justify pa's stated motivation and that the plan described in pa's submission is sound. am not satisfied that motivation is genuine. Refused. After getting this I deferred my admission to fall 2018 hoping to apply early this year. In the bid of tackling all the reasons for denials, I have to logically explain how my courses I studied at BSc relates my aspired course for MSc. I studied Agricultural Extension and Rural Development which is under the department of Agricultural Economics and Extension at my University. I have to highlight all agribusiness and Agricultural Economics courses I took that motivated me to put in for such course on my Transcript. I graduated in July 2016 and I my NYSC spanned from January 2017 to December 2017, luckily for me, my PPA is an Agribusiness firm (International Trade) and worked as an the executive assistant to the general manager. I have a registered agribusiness firm which has only done one transaction, not really high profit, just used my company name to get LPO from my PPA to supply them with cashew nuts as a broker. Secondly, current employment situation. I initially used my offer letter as the executive assistant to the GM and ID card but had no pay slip because the firm only transfer my salary at the end of the month to my account or sometimes issues cheque. Now, I'm retained after my NYSC as the Executive Assistant to the Executive Chairman (MD), ID hasn't been changed, the annual salary on my prior application is the same in my new offer letter which will take effect from this month, hope the V.O won't be concerned about this the pay?, should I stick to the prior offer letter? I just need to get this straight... I will also get a letter of introduction from my company and the general manager(direct boss) Thirdly, limited employment prospects in my country of residence. During my previous application I made use of my company memorandum of association with no cac certificate and tax clearance. Now, I plan to make use of my company's CAC certificate, tax clearance, the LPO I got, company's profile. I spoke to my boss about getting a study leave or offer letter after my studies, she agreed but my concern is; is it logical to get a study leave after working for one year and 9 months? Does it make sense to issue offer letter for 2years studies? like I will return to the firm after my studies in 2020 to work as a Business Development Analyst, should the annual salary for that position be stated? Fourthly, my personal assets and financial status. My account balance is around 200k plus, reason I didn't make use of it in my first application since my dad is my sole sponsor. Is that amount okay? My only asset for now is my company documents, can my dad's landed documents sufficiently play this role? In addition to my home tie are my siblings birth certificate, we don't bear the same surname (very complicated). I don't even know how to clarify this because it will lead to another wahala, that's why I'm somehow silent about it. I just included their names on the CIC family form. Lastly, Father (Sponsor’s) Employment Status. I only submitted his salary review in 2015 (14.4M annual salary), He owns two companies which he make use to generate funds. Family business (real estate) and engineering consultancy services. I hope to include both CAC documents and tax clearances to clarify that facts. made use of his two account statement; he paid a deposit of $3,000 from his sterling account with balance of 2M plus (inflow is 15M and outflow is 12M) and his RSA Stanbic account with current value of 18M plus as at august last year. N.B: My tuition for the first year is CAD$10,200, I got IGES of $5400. I am left to pay CAD$4,800 for first year and CAD$750 for 2nd year. I paid $3,000 and I'm left with $1,800. I hope to get UMGF worth $14,000 (I'm qualified based on my CGPA); do you advise I chill till I get it before reapplying or reapply now. I recently applied to University of Saskatchewan hoping to get the department funding worth $20,000 cad yearly. I'm confused on when to apply... Your honest opinions please...... God bless you immensely. SORRY FOR THE LONG POST, I hope someone will learn from it. @thesoj @justwise @hayqinsbFX @seiraries @maziude @Austinpee4 @Frankrobbn1 @wealth360 @yemdogg @jnyuwa02 @nogen and any other guru that can help clarify my questions. 3 Likes |

@phocusjosh, stumbled on your post when I replied a post i was mentioned in above. I think that your train of thought as regards responding to the issues raised by the vo are on the right track. I think that the main issue the vo had was that s/he was not able to justify how your parents were/are able to sponsor your studies since there was no proof of income. So your plans are in order. Include the source of your dad's income. Any proof of current employment or previous employment and retirement. Proof of his registered business(es), tax clearance certificates, personal account (s), rsa. I think that you should use the same offer letter as you did in the previous app and not the new one as it may seem contradictory. Your statement of account showing salary payments. If you get paid in cheques, keep photocopies of the cheques and deposit them into your account. The study leave letter from your company would be a plus in my opinion. It shows ties. I think every organization has their own study leave policy so it really shouldn't bother the vo about duration of employment prior to study leave. You do not need to include your siblings birth certificate. If you plan to start school in the fall, you want to give yourself enough time to apply for your visa. I'll advise applying maybe 6 months in advance? (I may be wrong). |

Hi everyone. Please i need genuine advice on this. I just applied for an msc program in canada but this thread of getting a canada visa is getting me scared coz my situation kinda put me in a tight spot. My husband is working in d USA and i wanna study in canada, also i have being denied a visiting visa to my husband in the US 3times now. My fear now is if this is likely to affect my canada study visa. Please fellow nairalanders how do you see this situation and how possible can it affect my study permit in canada? Thanks |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by WEIRDPC(m): 10:05am On Jan 12, 2018 |
eerdesh:Just answer the "have you been denied visa to any country " question truthfully and you will be fine. It will not affect the visa officers decision on your study permit application. |

Phocusjosh: Declare all siblings whether you have the same surname or not and include birth certificates. If you want to wait till you get scholarship funding, that would dramatically improve your case as VO's objection of funding availability would have been solved. 200k in your account is fine if you are sponsored student. Your parents financial status and property has a direct correlation to you, so there is no need to concentrate on getting your own personal asset when you can ride on the strength of your parents asset as a heir. Submit all CAC certificate, including tax clearance of your parents. If you are paid in cash and do not have a matching bank account where it goes, that is fine as long as you can produce your own personal tax clearance showing taxes paid on income. Don't change employers at this point. I cannot overemphasize waiting for funding before applying because it can be the solution to your present quagmire. Study leave is good, but who gives them for two years and expects people to come back? How much are they paying you to make such an unusual open blanket leave offer? Do you even think the VO will believe study leave based on the meager income they have been paying you? Think well. If I were you, I will concentrate on sayin I want to come back to Nigeria to develop my own company that I already started and be an authority in my nation in my area of expertise. 2 Likes |

Thank you so much for the replies. Please i would also like to ask if having an express entry profile can hinder one's chances of getting a study visa. Has anyone scaled through this without a hitch. Thanks I appreciate. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by jnyuwa02: 2:04pm On Jan 12, 2018 |
Nyinyez7: Express entry is a separate and apart process from study permit and meant to be separately decided with no contingency on each other. Many have scaled doing both applications. Except if you had a ban for misrepresentation preventing you from applying for any immigration benefit in Canada for 3 or 5 years, they do not effect each other. 1 Like |

Hello house, Happy New to you all! Pls i have few questions and i will need your advice. 1) At the point of applying for Manitoba PNP, the minimum fund required for a family of 5 is $18,000CAD and thus i stated this. But when i entered the EE pool i already stated $27,000CAD as POF as this is within the range of what is required for a family of 5. I just got LAA (Letter of Advice to Apply)from Manitoba, should i still provide evidence for 18,000 ( which is the minimum fund required for MPNP)or 27,000 (which i stated on my EE profile)? 2) When applying, i had fund in my account but i withdrew huge sum of the fund built to meet a need. Now that i have been given LAA (submit full application). Should i get the huge amount back into my account now before i print my bank statement. Hope i wont be penalised for this? Please advise me on how best to bring the fund into my account Thanks. |

@jnyuwa02 I have gone through 70% of all the post on study VISA application for Canada. I will like to have your good advice base on my few profile: Bsc Urban and Regional Planning 2008, GPA-4.2, works experience till date: 1 year in Business and logistics, 2 years in Spatial monitoring of Bts and location of Bts, 4 years experience in 3 different planning firms and also a managing partner to a new established one but we are yet to start using it to assign or get jobs. Married with 1 kid and all funds in wife accounts (5 million naira bank and 4 million treasure billing to mature March ending. 1 completed building in my wife's name and a land in my name and also another property for my late dad (all doc in my custody-building worth 20 million naira). I am applying to 4 skools and two of the courses are designed for 1 year but you can extend while the other are two years. My question is that since 90% of my funds is in my wife account, would she be my sponsor or I ask her transfer all the money back to me for the purpose? My other question is that all the four courses are good but considering my age of 36, would you advice I focus more on the 1 year program which is professional and other the two years program which is academics and professional for the skools I choose putting into consideration VO scrutinizing my intention? Thank you |

hoyin123: We can't advise you to say YES/NO. You should be able to know which response to give. To help with, if you have previously applied (some years back) to enter or remain in Canada, then your response would be YES, and if you have not, then your response would be NO. Since you said you were denied last year, meaning you have previously applied, you have to indicate YES! Hope this helps? 2 Likes |
