A good coach can only do as much as using his best players and giving them the right tactics, he won't be the one to score the goals.

How is it Salisu's fault that our attackers were wasteful in front of goal? 24 chances created yet no goal, I'm struggling to see why he should be blamed for this.
Then what do you say about the WAFU cup competition? Just mention one match this Salisu fake Eagles impressed as a unit.

The CHAN eagle played well in the first half against a distinctly poor Rwandan team. They were worse in the second half.

Lessons from the game

i. Okpotu is not very good. Perhaps the coach needs to draft Faleye to the middle.

ii. Lack of composure in front of goal: In spite of the many chances, the Rwandan keeper had little to do.

iii. Osas set-piece ability was not good enough.

iv. Against better sides, we need to take our chances.

You need to see how I was watching the match in anger. Every pass Na direct to the opponent. Zero direction.

See a post I saw on a blog about the CHAN team. I go with it 100%

"If these CHAN Eagles we saw tonight are the best home-based players in a Nigeria of 180 million inhabitants, then the NPFL (local league) must be a disgrace. "

"I am surprised that people have been clamouring for some of these boys to be included in the Super Eagles squad for the World Cup in Russia. That must be a joke."

"How could the writer of this piece describe them as “unlucky?” The CHAN Eagles lacked basic football skills and knowledge. One wonders at the quality of the coaching crew as well. This has been a night of shame!"

The Libyan are already giving a warning signal to the Nigerian team and there is a huge call for massive improvement in our coordination of play.

Presently watching the match and I hate criticising other people's works but I'm almost certain that I'll easily get into this team despite the fact that I haven't played football in a long time. Failed short passes, unnecessary long passes and too much effort. I wouldn't even want to play against them because them fit break my leg and the match will still end 0:0. They remind me of the past Eagles who almost gave us heart attacks whenever they were on and off the ball and who still kept us afraid even when they were 3 goals up. The only reason I'll pick any of them for the world cup is gonna be to fire hot shots at the keeper. Apart from that, these guys ain't it. Maybe individually but definitely not as a team. Hopefully we'll win our next match. We could have won this but lacked proper finishing skills. God Bless Naija.

with some home advantage penalties let's say like 8 plus few goals any player can become the npfl highest goal scorer

let's take for instance...the last kano pillars draw wit kastina United....suppose one player takes those 2 penalties and he scores...that's 2 goals...wit over 15 home games left to play...
If he can score same in like 10 home games...because it is always certain they will likely get some home advantage penalties...he will be in contention for the npfl highest goal scorer award.
that's how the magic work bro

The guys did good but they could have been much better. Decision making drove me crazy at times and the coaching stood in the players way like we have come to expect. On another day the score would be at least 4-0 but today was not just our day

with the bolded I believe you are very funny...
you mean a team that have been struggling to score goals for the past 6 months...would have walloped the Rwandans like 4 nil...?
haba let's be truthful now...the strength of this team today was the defense and the weakness have always been the attack...
even wit the numerous friendlies played wit some local teams they still haven't score like 4 goals

this team does not look like one that can bite...no attacking flare...and this has always been the team's problem since ages wit yusuf as the coach....

so please spare us that drama....
even the Rwandans look better organised and composed than the Nigeria side...

Pls did you watched Kano pillars vs Katsina Utd match?cos i see guys here complaining about the two penalties awarded without no cogent reason than normal Nigeria referees are bad, surprisedly a lot did not watched the match but keep on hammering the referee with their comments.

On Okpotu NPFL highest goal scorer, well i don't rate him after watching WAFU but why are you assuming most of his goals were through penalties, hope you remember how many goals Ronaldo scored through penalties for Real Madrid, scoring penalties should not be a judgement but his overall displayed as a player.

Thank God Stephen Odey is relatively doing well with FC Zurich and was part of the league last season or his goals too were through penalties, though the standard of NPFL is low but the way we water down anything about the league is uncalled for.

Stephen Odey has only played 4 games in Switzerland. The jury is still out on him. Can we at least wait to see him perform?

The antecedents of the NPFl makes 2 late penalties within 6 minutes for the home team extremely suspicious. We had several last minute penalties awarded to home teams last year so the suspicion is not misplaced. We are hoping for a better league this year and better performance on the continent.

The Rwandan team that played Nigeria was a very poor one. Nigeria created chances with ease but lacked the composure to put them away. Their keeper made very few saves. I expect Libya to trash this Rwandan team.

I'm not clamouring for Odey but responding to Humility17 comment on NPFL highest scorer status.

Definitely am eargerly waiting for Odey to prove his worth just like Alhassan is doing presently in Austria.

Oh we should wait for Odey to perform then why are we not waiting for Osimhen to perform.

Several swiss junior internationals have played for other countries. The Albanian team has a few former swiss youth for instance.

He is the son of Murphy Akanji and is very proud of his Nigerian heritage. If Nigeria had approached him for a senior cap first, i believe he would have turned out for us.

We need to do our findings why our ex players are not allowing their wards to commit to Nigeria? Ojokojo refused,Irofa too if not now and again Murphy Akanji, funny enough these are real local players in the 80s and 90s of Nigeria league, something must be fishing or may be they know what we don't know about national team selection or invitation.

na NTA show the match?
How was the quality?

Bro's the quality na NTA standard, no think am, no replay, no action highlight, the commentary na DIE!!! embarassed.

On the good side the football was good. kelly kester just brought in from enyimba added steel to the midfield, breaking up play and creating play with good shot from outside the box. there is one guy, I don't know his name he plays from the left side of the attack, the guy off and on the ball runs is good.
Rangers tried but what made the difference in the game was the quality of the personnel, if akwa united can get their defensive play right the'll mount a serious challenge for the league.

Couldn't watch the match yesterday but going by the comments so far, we were either unlucky, plain awful or both.

And saying there's still room for improvement may just be plain sentiment. We had all the time in the world to plan and improve before the tournament. One wonders where we'll go from here

for Murphy I can't really say...
but for the other two...I think it wasn't something really hampering on team selections...because iwobi case was also Similiar...

Ojokolo i think took that decision for his son reason because he is on the payroll of the Germans and asking his son to ignore or drop Germany for the super eagles may cost him his job...he has to thread on safe path...deep down he knows his son stand a better chance wit the super eagles... ..

ilorfa
was just greedy...he wanted his son to play for the 3 lions probably it gonna increase his financial value...you know English players are expensive..ignorance veil his eyes to know that there exist limited opportunities for players wit Nigeria heritage to play for England...
just when it down on him and his household that his son have no future wit the 3 lions he began to cry for super eagles chance...when it is obvious to all and sundry that his son is not better than the players the super eagles currently parade...

Murphy
i don't see him in the category of the two above....his son would have play for us if the nff was fast enough...

Seems like Akwa United has really worked on their team with inclusion of some quality player blending with already arrays of stars in their fold. Dont forget they have Gabriel Okechukwu with CHAN Eagles. I have a feeling the team will come alive this season.

As for Rangers, they have a sound coach in Gbenga Ogunbote but instability is their achilles hill. Most of the players that made them tick last 2 seasons are all gone ,except for Christian Madu,Godwin Aguda and Ugwu Uwadiegwu.

Bro's i greet you !!!

You are so on point, with the quality of talent in the akwa team, if i were the coach, i'd set up my team to play high pressing attacking football be it home or away and in training i teach dem how to play without the ball, it would come handy in the caf competition.
