Truidstar:

I watched the game yesterday, the Rwandans did not give us time or space, they were always closing down on whoever had the ball. The end result was hurried passes, fluffed shots and disjointed play. I thought the Rwandans would tire out in the second half but those boys do not get tired. We missed chances aplenty. The boys will get better as the tournament Progresses.

We had time and space. We were just wasteful.

We need to do our findings why our ex players are not allowing their wards to commit to Nigeria? Ojokojo refused,Irofa too if not now and again Murphy Akanji, funny enough these are real local players in the 80s and 90s of Nigeria league, something must be fishing or may be they know what we don't know about national team selection or invitation.

Firstly, do not rely on media talk secondly even the information coming from the NFF has to be taken with caution.

Anything not written at best is misrepresented and or even denied.

The question ❓ is Why Competing conflicting interests from different stakeholder the days of Ogunjobi may be gone but the DNA remains the same.

I will ask is the NFF not a Nigerian body having that in mind understand the dynamics. Rohr is in charge but he can still be influenced. Rohr has been involved in African football for a decade or more he knows the game and the politics of African football.

Dominic Iorfa made a commitment over 4 years that he would be ready at 23, that's integrity. He then changed his position and at 21 last summer made a commitment much earlier vthat he had promised too, however to date nothing heard from the NFF.

My suspicion completely unsubstantiated I admit. Is that Rohr having a preference for German players is waiting on three German defensive players who have actually been luke warm and even rejected offers in the past.

This is very normal in football all Managers have thier preferences.

With regards to Iorfa who was a established and first team player at Wolves. Immediately noticed that the new Portuguese manager Nuno Santos had plans to bring in his preferred players from Portugal and then get to the EPL and clean up on transfers. You should check who the agent is behind it all. That's why Dom had to go too Ipswich.

with the bolded I believe you are very funny...
you mean a team that have been struggling to score goals for the past 6 months...would have walloped the Rwandans like 4 nil...?
haba let's be truthful now...the strength of this team today was the defense and the weakness have always been the attack...
even wit the numerous friendlies played wit some local teams they still haven't score like 4 goals

this team does not look like one that can bite...no attacking flare...and this has always been the team's problem since ages wit yusuf as the coach....

so please spare us that drama....
even the Rwandans look better organised and composed than the Nigeria side...

Is this history class or are we analyzing the match from last night? We are talking about 23 chances created and u are telling me about 6 months ago. 3 shots hit the post and I can especially remember the keeper winning a one on one against Faleye, is that not 4 goals?

23 shots is diff from 23 chances/shot on target... Dis one peeps here are saying 23chances,as if I watched a diff match

D only clear cut chance we had was d corner kick chance we failed to convert,in wc d guy couldn't hit d ball very well, and our no 6 tapped it in,wc d guy was in offside anyway and d goal was disallowed.asyde dt our ball hit d bar thrice and every shot aimed at d post was as high as d height of a palm tree,do we count dt as part of d 23 chances created

Dt team perfomance I saw yday was abysmal,dey couldn't string up to 5passes tgeda,most especially in d 2nd stanza,just ballooning d ball around,extremely boring,even d opponent too were poor,

If dey don't change deir game approach,I doubt if dey would proceed beyond d 1st stage.

I was able to watch the match between Nigeria and Rwanda and to be honest there is nothing worth writing about. It was very amateurish and boring. Somebody said Nigeria was playing a compact midfield and I almost died. Maybe its the issue of blending well and understanding each other but their individual quality is in question. From Okpotu,Rabiu, Ogbuh ,Osas etc were lackluster. For Gods sake most of these guys are in their late 30s. They have nothing more to learn, bad habits are hard to break.
What you witnessed yesterday was a typical Nigerian league with a little more passing of the ball and calmness. Tells you were we are with our local league.

I was expecting this reaction from people here. Always waiting on the sidelines to knife home based players.
I can only see a hand full of unbiased analysis from a few egg heads here.

Truth is that the team generally didn't have a poor game. They out played the Rwandans hands down.
24 shots average with 3 shots hitting the wood work is a lot. As a matter of fact, it will be be difficult to find a team who will shoot 23 times on goal cumulatively all tournament. I will be worried if the team struggled to create chances but that wasn't the case.

By the way, did anyone notice the long throws by the left back? Every throwing appeared to be a free kick. You could get the vibe the Rwandans were nervous whenever there was a throw in awarded against them. Hopefully the long throw tactics pays off sometime as the tournament went on.

I am quite optimistic about our chances in this tournament. If the team can get it right in front of goal, an unlucky team could be in for a real spanking.

. Ifeanyi Ifeanyi, Rabiu Ali Combo Not WORKING

Midfield duo, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and Rabiu Ali, struggled to assert their authority in the game. Ifeanyi was replaced by Augustine Oladapo, while coach Salisu Yusuf kept faith with Ali and left him on the pitch for the entire duration of the game.
The Home Eagles best game in the Nigeria Professional Football League invitational tournament was against Enyimba when Salisu paired the duo of Oladapo and Sunshine Stars’ Dayo Ojo in midfield.

It was also evident that the team missed the industry of Afeez Aremu who was ineligible to play for the team after moving abroad and whether or no the coach will be bold enough to ring changes particularly in the midfield in the next game against Libya remains an issue of conjecture.

First off, Rabiu Ali is not a CREATIVE midfielder. Skillful ? Yes, but he is not a PLAYMAKER and can play in tight spaces. His strength is his speech just like Musa, nothing more. Sometimes he scores a breathtaking goal and I have condemned the guys inclusion because I know he has nothing new to offer to this team. His presence there is just a favor from a former boss. Ifeanyi still has his deft touches but he had a poor game

Out played them by ball possession and remember Rwanda is not a strong football playing nation compare to over 160 million football crazy Nigeria. It was a poor display for Super Eagle when you compare the pedigree of their opponent. Another blunder, if you cant get it together with Rwanda how do you plan to cope when you meet teams like Zambia. You are not playing spade.

It takes a creative team to create 23 chances in a game, this alot have shyed away from. That they didn't score even though 3 hit woodwork shouldn't be used to rubbish them.

I believe scoring will get corrected against their next opponent

Their superiority in the game was further underlined by restricting their opponents to just 2 shots on goal.
I dont expect the team to create 23 chances every game, but if they can get it right, they could go far in this tournament.

Surprisedly the same set of people criticising these boys are the same people given excuses for our poor performance against South Africa,so why double standard.

Pls let love our teams irrespective of players involved.

I deliberately didn't want to bring up the South African game, because I know the bandwagon herd pattern here.

As for those who say that our ranking will go down because of this result, need I remind them that our ranking have been down for the past 4 years because of our main national team's failure to qualify for the Afcon two times in a spin.

The outlandish comments lacking indepth analysis on what actually happened on the pitch last night, shows we have very very few football people on this thread. The rest are just hype men.

This is the thing, very few were on target. Shooting high and wide.

I doubt, we will have 20 shots against Libya or Morocco. They need to be far more clinical.

Of course, that's what we are saying, they should be more clinical and obviously, they need that little bit of luck too, not that the team played particularly badly.

The game yesterday was almost akin to the game between Arsenal and Manchester United earlier this season. I think Arsenal had something like 24 shots on goal while Man utd won the game with just 4 shots on goal. The difference being that Rwanda pulled a draw.
Even Arsenal's biggest critics never blamed Arsenal for not playing well.

Akwa UTD should wait till they go away, then you can judge them better. Remember their home turf is the best in the league so let's wait and see them play elsewhere.

Too bad MFM lost badly away but they Will bounce back.

Kano pillars and Enyimba another tough cookies to chew.. remember some of their best players are missing in action (CHAN) so with time, we will see the real contenders.

Well that's left to be seen, but if na me b d coach, na attack all the way.

The lads had a fair first half, in fact I wasn't really expecting them to play that well. But their second half wasn't anything to write Home about.

Eze and Orji were solid at the defense, I want to see how well they'd fair against a stronger opposition.

The left back with his dangerous long throws were really troubling the Rwandan defense but he was guilty of giving away the ball too often.

We were actually unlucky, even teams who play worse than they did yesterday win games, we were denied by the woodwork 3 freaking times. I know they can do better, they should work more on converting their chances, you're only blessed with few chances in a tight game and you should make use of them.

After watching teams like Morocco and Sudan hold their own, I am very sorry if I expected at least a goal from supposed 'tournament favorites' (according to the commentator)

I was not expecting anything from this team, my expectations was just to unearth some good players, not that we will even go past group stage. And this Libya that I am watching here, I just dey laugh....let us hope the pitch and the weather favours our players.

The only positive I took from yesterday's game is that the players had the ball on the ground a lot of times, however, the forwards have piss poor aim. There is no excuse to miss that many opportunities, 24 good shots, how do you explain missing that many shots? At a point it just looked ridiculous. And none of those forwards look ready to displace anyone in the current team which is really, the aim of this CHAN for me. So before anyone says, "after all the main team has had worse games", let us remember that some of us are looking for players that are better than what we have in that main team and if we can't see forwards better than what we have, then what are we looking at?

At least I watched this game, the SA one I no watch am, but this one.....the most impressive thing on show yesterday was the pitch in the Tangier Stadium grin

Musa Yahaya Close In On Action With Porto First Team After Dazzling To Send B Team Top

Former Nigeria youth international Musa Yahaya yet again post another top class performance for the B team of FC Porto to power them to a 1-0 win away to Gil Vincente in the Portuguese second division.

Now fully settled in his new role as a right wing-back, the 20 year old played the entire duration of the game, which helped his team extend their lead at the top of the table by six points.

His performances has lead to talks about an imminent promotion to the first team, where he has trained severally the past few months while turning out for the B team.
Yahaya has 14 appearance to his name this season for the B team of Porto, with three assists and a goal as well. A sign of how well he has progressed the past few months at the club.

Nicknamed the “Nigerian Neymar”, he has so far played twice the amount of games he played last season for same club at same level, following his transfer from fellow second division side Portimonense.

Porto will pay the balance of his transfer fee to Portimonense if he plays for the main team between now and his stay at the club, where he is presently the only Nigerian at the club.

The likes of Mikel Agu and Chidozie Awaziem are presently out on loan to Bursaspor and Nantes respectively, while two other Nigerians Isah Musa and Yaro Zakari are on trial at the club since the end of last year.

A decision on the duo who are currently turning out for third division side Vizela will most likely be communicated to them in the coming weeks according to sources who broke the news of their trail to Owngoalnigeria.com.

Comparing this team with the main team by saying "you all were making excuses when we lost against SA" is similar to when APC expect Nigerians to be happy with the status quo because we didn't complain when PDP was misbehaving.

Libya Coach: We Must Be Strong Against “Good Side” Home Eagles
By Johnny Edward

Libya head coach Omar Al-Marimi has stated that his side must improve when they face the Home Eagles in their second group game on Friday at the ongoing 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco, Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN) reports.

Libya got off to a flying start in the competition by defeating debutantes Equatorial Guinea in their opening 2018 CHAN Group C match 3-0 in Tangier on Monday.

Al Ahli Tripoli striker Saleh Taher scored a first half brace in the space of six minutes as Libya went into the break with a 2-0 advantage. Taher’s club mate Al Lafee Zakaria sealed the victory with a third goal with six minutes left to play.

“The same focus we had preparing for Equatorial Guinea is what we will use for our next two opponents (Home Eagles of Nigeria and Rwanda) because they are good sides,” Al-Marimi said during the post-match interview after his side’s win on Monday.

“Also, we would work on sustaining pressure all through and not withdraw at some point like we saw today.”

The Mediterranean Knights won CHAN in 2014 and will face the Home Eagles of Nigeria on Friday in their next game before their final group game against Rwanda.

Libya lead Group C with three points after first round of matches. Nigeria and Rwanda are joint second after both played out a goalless draw, while Equatorial Guinea are fourth.

ADO De Haag Confirm Negotiations With Benfica Over Ebuehi
By Adeboye Amosu

Dutch club ADO Den Haag have confirmed they are in talks with Portuguese giants Benfica over the possible transfer of Super Eagles defender Tyronne Ebuehi, reports Completesportsnigeria. com (CSN).

Ebuehi, who is into final six months of his contract with Den Haag, has been linked with a number of clubs outside the Netherlands.

The likes of Norwich City, Anderlecht and Olympiacos have been linked with right-back who has been capped twice by Nigeria, but he now seems to be heading to Benfica.

ADO De Haag have also tried to tie the player to a new contract but he has stated categorically that he will only stay if they offered what is in tune with his status at the club.

There have been several reports that the defender has passed his medical at Benfica with official announcement being expected.

“At the moment no substantive announcements can be made about Tyronne Ebuehi. ADO Den Haag and Benfica do have contact about the defender,” reads a statement on the Dutch club’s Twitter handle on Tuesday.

Man City Kayode Joins French Side Amiens On Loan After Failing To Shine At Girona

Nigeria Inter striker Olarewaju Kayode is set to join French Ligue 1 side Amiens on loan from Manchester City for the rest of the 2017/2018 season after struggling to impress at Spanish side Girona.

Kayode joined Man City after emerging as the best player in Austria, after scoring 24 goals for Austrian Wien and he was immediately loaned out to Girona, who are partly owned by Man City.

However, the 24 year old failed to nail down a regular spot in the team, and since the turn of the year he has failed to make the matchday squad for any of their games.

Girona according to several reports terminated his loan deal, leaving City with no option but to search for another loan destination for the forward, who is still not eligible to play for them as he isn’t qualify for a work permit in England yet.

Although there were rumours of interest in his services from teams in Turkey and the Netherlands, Ligue 1 side Amiens have won the race for his signature for the rest of the season.

The former Nigeria youth international is pushing for regular game time in his bid to force his way into the Nigerian team for the World Cup holding in Russia.

Amiens are currently placed 16th on the French Ligue 1 table after 20 games, just two points out of the drop zone in the league, no thanks to the poor conversation rate of their strikers.

They have scored just 16 goals this season, and they will be hoping Kayode recapture same home he displayed at Austria Wien where he scored 17 league goals two years ago.

Super Eagles Right-Back Is ADO Den Haag's Best Dribbler

Benfica-bound Nigerian defender Tyronne Ebuehi is ADO Den Haag's best dribbler after 18 games in the Dutch Eredivisie.

According to the statisticians at OPTA, the right-back has completed more dribbles than any other ADO Den Haag player this season, while only three Eredivisie defenders had more.

The Dutch-born defender completed 1.4 dribbles per game, more than Ricardo Kishna (1.0), Abdenasser El Khayati Aaron Meijers and Sheraldo Becker who completed 0.9 dribbles each, according to
Whoscored.

The 22-year-old Ebuehi has played 17 matches for ADO Den Haag in the league, making 2.2 tackles per game, the third best in the squad, and has averaged 1.8 clearances per game.
He has logged 1,467 minutes with an average rating of 6.76 from a possible ten.

Ebuehi has two caps for the Super Eagles which he earned in friendly matches against Togo and Argentina.
