So for mutual fund portfolios. I researched on it. And there are 3 different approaches for diversification. Aggressive, Moderate and Conservative. I use this system. Aggressive Portfolio Asset Allocation: 85% Stocks, 15% Bonds Moderate Portfolio Asset Allocation: 65% Stocks, 30% Bonds, 5% Cash/MM Conservative Portfolio Asset Allocation: 25% Stocks, 45% Bonds, 30% Cash/MM I had all my money in MMF but I am gradually moving through to the Aggressive Portfolio. An aggressive portfolio is appropriate for an investor with a high risk tolerance and a time horizon longer than 10 years. The reason for this is that aggressive portfolios typically include more stocks than moderate and conservative portfolios. A moderate portfolio is appropriate for an investor with a moderately high risk tolerance and a time horizon longer than 5 years. A conservative portfolio is appropriate for an investor with a low risk tolerance and a time horizon from immediate to longer than 3 years. 1 Like 2 Shares |

anori:Thanks for this insight. I also think before moving to the moderate or aggressive stage of investing, one should have at least 6 months worth of one's living expenses in MMF as a form of emergency fund - stand by. Then depending on one's risk tolerance and time horizon we can invest more aggressively for better returns. 3 Likes |

I noticed that the bid price for stanbic equity fund is above 10,000 naira while FBN equity fund is about 191 naira. Why this high discrepancy? Can bid price affect someone's decision to buy a fund since income is distributed according to units held? Thanks 1 Like |

yak: First Capital issa mess! Every fortnight, their website goes down for a full week. They publish daily profit rates only for days they feel like. Such transparency and investor confidence assurance! Couldn’t wait to jump ship after only a month. 2 Likes 1 Share |

dotcomnamename: Coming to how best to combine different funds to maximise return, it’s a bit hard to say exactly because of different risk allocations and the peculiarity of each individual but am sure we can work on assumptions, I will make a model using age, marital status and estimated dependants. Single, not married and no dependant with age bracket 19-31 years I would recommend 70% stocks or equity based funds, 20% balanced fund and 10% MMF. Married, few dependants probably 32- 40 years I would recommend 50% stocks or equity based funds, 30% balanced fund and 20% MMF. Family maintenance, many dependants 41-60 years 18% stocks or equity based funds, 30% bonds, 20% balanced funds, 32% MMF. Retired, at the point of transferring wealth and 60 years and above I would recommend 15% stocks or equity based funds, 25% bonds, 60% MMF. Disclaimer: This is my personal opinion. 7 Likes 3 Shares |

ernie4life: Sir, please I usually do T bills and im quite new here. Does stanbic ibtc manage all ds porfolios or is it done by asset managers......which do u recommend, if its done by the latter? Thanks |
Re: Mutual Funds by ernie4life(m): 4:46pm On Jan 17, 2018 |
yomi007k: I believe all asset management firms do all the above not just stanbic, its all about personal difference and service delivery so long as the firm is properly regulated. you wont see any advert of stock on any media due to regulation but you can log on to sec.gov.ng to see list of all asset management firms in Nigeria |

haibe:has the fund been removed from your gtb account? When? where are you? The asset management arm of ibtc has branches in port harcourt, lagos and abuja. you can go there and rectify all instantly. |

haibe: That's strange. Send them an email with screenshots if you can. When you get a reply, {not those automated ones} you should be able to get someone's direct phone number so you can save for further or later use. |
Re: Mutual Funds by haibe(m): 6:13pm On Jan 17, 2018 |
RealityShot: I'm in Ibadan. It has been debited and GT Connect confirmed this, they said they will request for Stanbic to refund the money but haven't seen anything since then. For Stanbic MF guys, they claimed they are working on it and trying to ensure they received the money. The last person that picked my call even cut the call after few seconds of discussion. I'm tired of these guys, i will probably not continue the MF investment after getting my money! 1 Like |

haibe: there is something wrong with urs pls stanbic has been very good, i did top up on my account via their online platform on tuesday around 5pm and just this morning i checked my account and it has reflected it took less than 48hrs. any top up that lasts over 48hrs is problematic. write n call their customer care or visit any stanbic IBTC branch for quick resolution otherwise you may wait forever, regards 3 Likes 1 Share |
