oh yeah, Aiyenugba. Thanks

Anyway, I don't see how Enyeama can be the immediate solution to anything or why he is even a topic of discussion these days. If Ezenwa sucks at penalties, wr have other goalies we can try. This overdependence on a player that is yet to even commit to the team is nauseating
I'm not even in support of Enyeama, he can at best be a temporary solution in the next 1-2 years we'll start hunting for another keeper, and with Ezenwa I'm not sure he can improve he's almost 30 I think and like the popular saying goes you can't teach old dog new tricks, we can do better than Ezenwa. goal keepers have always been part of our strongest positions.

what is paining me here is that none of then clamouring for Enyeama can categorically tell us what is going on with his career as we speak.

Where is Enyeama?

they know but they have refused to say it as it is , for those of you who cares to know ..... he is presently the 3rd goal keeprer in Lille . .... meaning he may remain on the bench till world cup .

No, I cannot consider such because Rohr specifically said that Enyeama would have to have a club by January and regular game time to be considered. As far as I know, he has not fulfilled those requirements, and unless he suddenly has new friends in the NFF (considering everyone is supposedly against him), he is not going to gatecrash the team. NFF cannot outline six friendlies because of ONE person, the ridiculousness of that idea is.....well, just that, ridiculous

However, the six friendlies could be for a more plausible idea that Rohr wants to switch up players positions in th team and wants to test the current goalie he sees great potential in- Uzoho, because I cannot fathom why he would send a trainer from the NT to Spain to train a kid he doesn't have plans to rocket to the #1 position, it's not like anyone ever thinks he would play a supposed third choice goalie

If Team Enyeama cannot tell us what exactly Enyeama is up to these days, I think talking about him is as fruitless as wishing Martins will make the team, if not more fruitless.

Please,if you are supporting Enyeama, tell us what he is up to, or hold your peace.

this is the world cup, nothing is ridiculous. Do you know that some statisticians are paid thousands of US dollars to prepare teams for this mundial? Ok now what is the guarantee that Uzoho will come good? None. We can only hope for that but what if the idea behind the 6 friendlies is 'if Uzoho does not come good before then(according to the personal GK trainer's opinion)then he isn't going to come good anytime soon so best to just bring Enyeama and get him up to speed with six top matches'. Of course these are all assumptions, intelligent assumptions made off the top of my head but this is a scenario which could pan out and if Rohr is the meticulous fellow I believe he is then he is planning for such a scenario as well.

However on the other front, Enyeama's move to Angers has not gone straight through because of his wage issues. And since we still have a week plus left, the Enyeama camp is still holding out for another club. Infact Angers wasn't the first choice and the news was leaked by some section of the media which was why Enyeama gave it a second thought at all

I repeat, NFF (who all hate Enyeama BTW), suddenly lining up six friendlies just so they can call up Enyeama is RIDICULOUS.

There are no guarantees Enyeama even wants to wear the Nigerian jersey at all, talk less go to the World Cup with anyone, but you nice people, have decided to take it upon yourselves to carry campaign for a man who is neither here nor there, to what end?

I will rather risk Uzoho, than Enyeama.

eh I am not sure the NFF can just wake up and fix six friendlies, I am pretty sure the coach has a hand in that, a big one. So it's not as if the NFF woke up and said 'hey, 6 friendlies for Enyeama to get into shape y'all'. Far from that, maybe the coach submitted a plan for his world cup and insisted that he needs 6matches or more to keep some of his squad players up to speed(as a matter of fact this was exactly what Rohr presented to the technical committee a few weeks after we finished the qualification process for the world cup, when Enyeama's case was still strong)

@ the bolded. This is what so many of our people have not come to understand- THE MAGNITUDE OF THE COMPETITION. There is a reason it is named THE FIFA MEN'S WORLD CUP.

They keep refering to the clean sheets we had during the qualifiers. They talk about How our defence was rock solid against Africa giants which is true and no need for arguement...

I am in no way discrediting the top notch performances metted out by our team during the qualifiers but we've failed to understand that the calibre and quality of players we'll be meeting at the World Cup are way too different. We will no longer be facing attacks from the Mulengas, Fashion Sakalas, Slimanis, Aboubakars of football-the opponents have changed.

It'll be suicidal to pitch our defence with average goalkeepers against World Deadliest Predators. There is need for reinforcement.

Ezenwa is about the most consistent goalie in the league . He has been in the national team set up for quite a while now working under Keshi, Oliseh, Salisu and then Rohr and has gotten several exposures both in the continent and outside the continent.

This is a major edge he has over all other goalies in the NPFL.
I have always stated that goalkeepers selection is a lot more complex that outfield players selection.

There are a lot to the selection criteria.

Ezenwa being in the National team for two hundred years does not make him the better choice. If not, Peter Rufai would have attracted every shot to his finger tips like an electromagnet in France 98.

When the Foreign goalkeeper trainer screened them, reports pointed out that Ajiboye was better than Ezenwa. We have formed a habit of celebrating who came first as the better choice over quality. Take Ezenwa to Deportivo and I can bet a huge Stake that he will never keep Uzoho on the bench.

We should stop the idea of bending or dropping the better player with the funny excuse that the other is a grandfather in the team.

Give us clear cut reasons why he is the best or reports that said he was better in camp. Clearly, Ezenwa is not even the best among those in the local league.

Watford Sack Isaac Success’ Manager Marco Silva After Poor Run Of Games

Kayode Ogundare

Complete Sports Nigeria

Super Eagles striker Isaac Success is set to get another manager after Watford took the decision to sack Marco Silva following a run of just one win in eleven Premier League games.

The decision came on the back of Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Leicester City which left Watford in 10th but the club points at a “significant deterioration” in the wake of Everton’s attempts to lure the manager away from the club in November as reason for the sack.

“This has been a difficult decision and one not taken lightly,” read a club statement. “The club is convinced the appointment of Silva was the right one and had it not been for the unwarranted approach by a Premier League rival for his services we would have continued to prosper under his leadership.

“The catalyst for this decision is that unwarranted approach, something which the board believes has seen a significant deterioration in both focus and results to the point where the long-term future of Watford FC has been jeopardised.

“For the security and success of the football club, the board believes it has to make a change.

“The club will seek to make a swift appointment and there will be no further comment until that appointment has been made.”

The Portuguese was among the Toffees’ primary targets after they dismissed Ronald Koeman, with the 40-year-old having presided over an excellent start to the season following his move from Hull City in May.

But Watford rebuffed the Goodison Park club’s approaches, as the Merseysiders refused to pay the reported £20million fee demanded in order to release Silva from his contract.

Saturday’s loss leaves Watford only five points above 18th-placed Southampton, who play their game in hand on Sunday.

Shocking news because I really like the team Marco Silva built with Richarlison and Docoure my favourites. I believed with time, Silva would have settled the ship.

Wish Marco Silva the best. He is a good manager and I believe clubs will soon fight for his signature.

After we qualified for the World Cup, I felt it was time for the happiness of qualifying early and the confidence in the minds of players should be knocked off.

I went on to post an article of the Power of defeat here. I wanted to see our team pummeled by a top side and then I expected the team to learn from it.

During the first half of the friendly against Argentina, I had a big smile on my face when the Argentines were Tiki takaing us. By the time it was two nil, the smile widened. I believed Rohr will have a full dossier of information to work with. I expected the game to end 4-0 or 5-0 in favor of Argentina.

After Nacho's free kick, some tweaks in our playing pattern, the result ended in our favor and I learnt a big lesson.

WE ARE UNDERRATING THE QUALITY OF OUR PLAYERS AND THE QUALITY OF THE AFRICAN SIDES WE CONQUERED.

I am now interested in seeing how the rest of our friendlies will go.

Abdullahi Says Goodbye To Anorthosis Famagusta, Confirms Bursaspor Move

Nigeria defender Shehu Abdullahi has expressed gratitude to Anorthosis Famagusta for making his two-year stay at the club a memorable experience, reports Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN).

Abdullahi will officially end his stay at the Cypriot club by signing a two-and-a half year contract with Turkish outfit Bursaspor on Monday.

He made an emotional end to his time with Anorthosis as he was in tears while getting a standing ovation and farewell from both the fans and officials at the end of the their League clash against Ethinakos Achnas on Saturday, his last game for the club.

The occasion was made more memorable for him as he was handed the captain’s arm band in the game even as he scored the second goal from the spot in the 3-1 win.

“I just want to thank everyone at @anorthosisfc the club, the manager, my teammates and most of all the supporters for an incredible 2 years. As you know I am leaving the club to start a new challenge but this club will forever be in my heart. Thank You All!,” he wrote on his Twitter handle on Sunday.

The 24-year-old Super Eagles star, who joined Anorthosis from Portuguese club Uniao da Madeira in 2016, made 48 appearances for the club, scoring three goals.

League Followers Task State Football Association On Security At Stadia.................Focus On Nasarawa and Kastina United Tie

On behalf of the keen followers of Nigeria leagues, we write to sincerely appreciate the leadership of Nigeria Football Federation led by *Mr Amanju Melvin Pinnick*, Vice President of the NFF, *Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi* (the peace maker) ,and particularly the second Vice President of the NFF and chairman of the League Management Company, *LMC, Mallam Sheu Dikko* the gentleman for the excellent job since you are doing his assumption of office. We can't thank you enough Sirs.

Sequel to the spate of violence that characterised Match Day 1 of 2017/2018 Nigeria Professional Football League particularly at the Lafia Township Stadium and Kastina Stadium, and consequent upon the feelings of followers of Naija league with respect to safety of lives and properties, we humbly use this medium to appeal to the management of Naija made leagues to wake up to their responsibility and consider the under listed recommendations for optimum performance :

1) The *LMC, NFF, NRA and SWAN* should embark on joint inspection on Nasarawa Township Stadium particularly on their perimeter fencing before Match Day 3 of NPFL so as to ensure safety of lives and properties of the stakeholders particularly Referees, pressmen and spectators at the stadium.

1) If any of the above bodies is not satisfied with the standard of things at the above named stadium, LMC should ensure as a matter of urgency, provide another venue for their subsequent matches pending the completion of the affected area of the Lafia Township stadium

2) Kastina State F.A. should be made to write official letter stating reasons why Kano Pillars were not allowed to train 24hrs before the match as stipulated in the law book and sanction them accordingly if found guilty.

3) All state F.A should be made to present to the league organisers the security arrangement at the stadium (hot/flash spot and those in charge of match officials) before the commencement of every match .

4) The fans involved in dastardly acts at Nasarawa Township Stadium should be arrested, published and prosecuted accordingly.

5) Each stadium should have a standard spacing between spectators and the pitch to avoid pitch encroachment.

6) Stadium tunnel should be strictly meant for the officials and anyone found constituting nuisance to the referees movement to their dressing should be captured by the press men and punished along with the State F.A who allowed such in his domain

7) Referees' Dressing room should be strictly meant for the officials and officials alone. Any touts, rented toughs found at this spot should be captured and arrested for prosecution

cool Media stands should be strictly meant for the press men and non pressmen should not be allowed to sit close to the stand to impede their assignments.

9) Chairman of any state F.A that fails to ensure hitch free outing should be suspended for a minimum period of eight matches along with those arrested in connection with such act

10) Each state chairman of Nigeria Referees Association should organize seminars for their fans and Media on the new laws of the game according to FIFA standard
Permit me to crave your esteemed indulgence to quote retired Referee *Ameenu Muhammed* who suggested that:

"I want to appreciate ur organization, *Sports World* and you in particular for your foresight and insights towards a better league. In the future sir, we could organize a training (awareness programme) for members of the media on the Laws of the Game. This is to ensure that those evaluating decisions of the Referees are equally up to date on the Laws of the Game. For instance, an incidence may occur outside the field of play and the Ref awards a penalty kick. Those who don't know will not understand why it has to be so. An action of a substitute or a team official which interferes with play attracts a direct free kick or penalty kick; a player who is supposed to obtain the Refs permission before re-entering the field did so without such permission. If he interferes with play before the Ref sees and noticed, he shall be cautioned and play restarts with a direct free kick. If this occurs at d time he is about to score or must have scored a goal, it shall be cancelled; and if it occurs in his team's penalty area, *the Ref shall award a penalty against him*. There are so many like that which our teams (players & officials) as well as spectators/sporting media are absolutely ignorant of. In such cases the Refs concerned would be adjudged to have err. Rome was not built in a day, so we can gradually upgrade. Pre-season and mid-season programs could be fashioned out to accommodate awareness project if growth & development is our target".

We hereby pass a vote of confidence on the present NFF, LMC and NRA leadership.

Thank you and long live Nigeria.

Signed

*Sunday Agunbiade*

Abdullahi In Tearful Farewell From Anorthosis Famagusta

Super Eagles defender, Shehu Abdullahi, made an emotional end of stay with Cypriot side, Anorthosis Famagusta as he was in tears while getting a standing ovation and farewell from both the fans and officials at the end of the their League clash against Ethinakos Achnas on Saturday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN).

It was Abdullahi’s last outing for the modest side before finally moving to Bursaspor of Turkey,

Abdullahi who was handed the captain’s hand band in the game as a mark of respect for his exemplary service to the club, converted a penalty in the 59th minute to help them to a 3-1 win.

He was surrounded by his teammates after the game who bid him farewell with deep hugs and also got standing ovation from fans at the Stadio Antonis Papadopoulos.
The 24-year-old who can also play as a defensive midfielder is expected to pen a contract with Bursaspor on Monday where he will linked up with two of his international teammates, Willian Troost-Ekong and Mikel Agu.

The former Kano Pillars player who joined Anorthosis from Portuguese club, Uniao da Madeira in 2016, made 48 appearances for the club scoring three goals.

On the international scene, he was part of Nigeria’s home-based team that came third at the African Nations Championship in South Africa 2016 and the U-23 Eagles side that won bronze medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

safarigirl:
even Enyeama lets in penalties, there are no guarantess of anything, and really, how many penalties are we likely to concede? How many had Enyeama saved before he became first choice goalie for us?

You don't have to watch any of the players really, you aren't the coach, so whether you watch or not, e no mean, if Rohr has watched the goalies, he will know who is better. Unlike other rudiments of keeping, it's pretty straightforward to tell how good a goalie is during training.

All this Enyeama talk is getting stale, Enyeama is not God....he was at three World Cups, and all his saves did not help us go farther than Round of 16. He is not the key to anything, the guy is struggling to save what is left of his career as it is

I am not canvassing for the recall of a non-active goal keeper..all i am sayn is I can't really say how good uzoho is probably because I have not watch him play...I think one of this friendlies he will have a full debut..I will want the friendly against England...that will be a good test for us to know more on his qualities.

you're getting me wrong......for now we are though many of us will want uzoho in goal I believe others canvassing for ezenwa are probably doing so reason because they have not really had the time to watch him play.
