This is a very important warning.

But I am confused because I dunno where else to keep my cylinder because the only space outside is where my generators are.

Are we gonna burst our walls to pass the gas hose outside?

In UK, gas cylinder is put outside of the house in a small underground pit; from there, a pipe is connected to the gas cooker in the kitchen.

Apart from leak and carelessness, gas explosion normal occur as a result of pressure and inferior gas cylinder. I always advice peeps... Which ever cylinder you are using, fill it with less than 1.5kg in other to have buffer space for expansion or if the cyclinder is weak. Filling a gas cylinder almost to the brim is dangerous.

Yes

We've always had a gas cylinder(s) inside the house for over 10 years.
All you have to do is be careful, make sure nothing is leaking, and painstakingly teach whoever is to operate it...in details.

yes you only need less than 1 inch hole to do this, if you live in a fenced compound then you are lucky, do this as a matter of urgency

Gas cylinder is very safe insider only if its leaking which is very easy to detect
How can we detect leaking cylindee? Is there any other method apart from the sizzling sound and smell?

Crazy ...you keep gas cylinder outside, you risk it being stolen or it getting over heated. Most homes were not built with that in mind. Best that should have been done would be having a central gas distribution system buh .....even pipe borne water supply is a dream for many undecided
so sad the country is not designed In such a way to allow access for a central gas distribution system. All our politicians keep wooing us with is electricity and good roads.. Finish..

for close to 30yrs plus we have been using fas cylinder in our kitchen and nothing has happened.

we are just extra careful in our handling. once you perceive the smell of gas in the kitchen, you turn off the nobs and detect the cause, this is how we have stayed over the years without chaos

The problem many people have with gas is in handling. Many moved from kerosene stove to gas without knowing that using gas involved additional safety measures:
1. People needs to constantly check their gas cylinder for leakages. People need to be extremely sure gas has not leaked into space before striking a match. An enclosure into which gas has leaked into unknowingly is a disaster waiting to happen, you strike a match and the whole place goes up in flame with the gas source(cylinder) becoming an improvised bomb. Fortunately most commercially available gas has additive that provides it with odour that enables leakage be sensed.
2. People needs to know you don't leave your gas supply on before you begin to look for matches, by the time you come back, the whole place would have been filled with gas, putting you in danger of explosion if you go ahead and light a match stick. Get your fire ready before you put on your gas supply, so that your gas is ignited immediately preventing the risk of releasing uncombusted gas.
3. Cylinder should be placed in a well ventilated space, that ensure that in case of leakage it immediately diffuse into the environment. However leakage should be prevented as much as possible altogether.
4. Check all connection both on the cylinder and along the line supplying your burners regularly to avoid story that touches the heart. That a cylinder is placed outside does not guarantee that gas can't leak from other connections into spaces.
May God protect us all.

These hungry boys steal gas cylinders outside in the night, even in fenced compound. They steal batteries from cars and brain box too.

Though anyone caught, na jungle levels ...no time.

You just wake up and your car battery and gas cylinder is missing. What a bad way to start the day... you will first be destabilized before you will start replacing the stolen things.

that's the sad thing with Nigeria... the government doesn't provide anything for its citizens maybe only salaries...state govt isn't even paying..

i n Nigeria you have to provide everything for yourself..suffer to build house, dig bore hole or well for water, buy generator because of power outage, buy gas cylinder for cooking

that is a perfect example of a failed state
