c'mon why compare agbim wit ezenwa...
it's like you never watched Nigeria CHAN play against Mali, Mozambique and South Africa...I think he only did well against south Africa...
against Morocco too...his basket qualites was made manifest....

ezenwa is far better than agbim...
Yes Ezenwa is better but they belong to the same class,my opinion.

Uche Nwofor was the new kid in the block in the year leading to the World Cup.

He was banging in goals at VV Venlo. In only his second game for the Eagles against SA at the Nelson Mandela Challenge, you have forgotten the brace he scored? One was even a back heel. He was even a second half substitute.

He was our hottest striker at the 2011 AYC and WYC.

As at that Time leading to the World cup he was highly rated as he showed great quality.
He more than deserved to be in that team. If you say he later failed to leave up to expectations I will 100% agree.

Lets the stats do the talking shall we? I remember how frustrated I was when that squad was released. This made me start digging up superior replacements to most of the players Keshi picked.

Anthony Ujah – Cologne - 2 Bundesliga

12/13 – 13 goals, 3 assists
13/14 - 11 goals, 3 assists

14/15 – 10 goals, 3 assists - Bundesliga

Imoh- Standard Liege – Juplier Pro League

12/13 – 14 goals, 5 assists
13/14 – 10 goals, 8 assists

Eneramo – Sivasspor Turkish Super Lig
12/13 – 11 goals, 3 assists
13/14 – 4 goals, 3 assists

Osariemen Ebagua – Varese Serie B
12/13 - 17 goals, 1 assist
13/14 – 13 goals, 2 assists – Spezia Calcio, Seria B

Ideye Brown - Dynamo Kiev Ukrainian Permier League
12/13 – 17 goals, 3 assists
13/14 – 10, 6 assists (all competitions)

OR

Nwofor - VVV Venlo Eredivisie -

12/13 - 8 goals, 1 assist
13/14 – 10 goals 1 assist for Herenveen U21

14/15 – 2 goals for Lierse – Jupiler Pro League

I know who Rohr would have picked if he managed the team then, Oh and I also know who he surely wouldnt have picked too. grin

super eagles invitation should be base on competence and not sentiment.

let them earn it......even the ezenwa have not been living up to expectation that much.
Don't tell me that in a team that won two of their group matches and drew one, you can't "consider" just one of them for the match friendlies.

Including one or two of them in the call-up for the friendlies will serve as a morale booster for players who will be playing in the next CHAN.If not, we should just opt-out like Egypt and SA because there is no need for CHAN.

Iheanacho can boast serious stats from previous seasons that still validates his selection. Nwofor didn't and in any case is not a good comparison. Dude played for VVV Venlo and Herenveeen Under 21s not Man City alongside Aguero lol

Sir,it hasn't gotten to that.We are just saying that one or two should be "invited" for the friendlies, which doesn't mean they will get to play. But if they are good enough, why not?

Is not like we re saying they should be in plane to Russia. We are just saying they should be given a chance since we have a lot of friendlies lined-up for us.

Or in which other way can you reward their hardwork?

Top Tackler Arsenal Vs Chelsea? Not Kante, Koscielny, Mustafi, Bakayoko But Iwobi

Alex Iwobi excelled defensively and offensively in Arsenal's 2-1 win over Chelsea in the semifinal of the League Cup, so much so that he was rated the best player on the Emirates Stadium in one very important statistic.

The Hale End Academy product had a game-high five tackles, one more than Laurent Koscielny and Tiemoué Bakayoko, who both finished the game with four tackles each.

Bringing those stats to life, Iwobi has averaged less than one tackle per game in the Premier League this season, with 13 tackles in 14 appearances.

The Nigeria international outshone Chelsea's top tackler in the Premier League N'Golo Kanté, who made zero tackles but the Frenchman still highlighted his defensive qualities in the center with a game-high seven interceptions.

Iwobi managed a total of two interceptions and one clearance, and had a passing accuracy of 76.8 percent.
Arsenal have faced Chelsea five times this season in all competitions, with the Gunners number seventeen starting all but one of the games.

Russia 2018 WC countdown: 140 days to go
not forgetting that the 5 tackles came against his compatriot. That flank was a battle of the Nigerians and admittedly Iwobi came out on top.

they got medals by sitting on the bench. It is a case of right place and right time.

They did not equal anything because once again, they added nothing to the team. Your biggest flop at the World Cup was Yobo, remember that. Amongst the other flops of course

We want a team that performs generally, so that if Mikel and Moses flop, we see who we can get from the bench. Uzoenyi and Egwueke are part of your bench that flopped because they were all useless

We will not take another useless bench of flops to the World Cup just to promote one failing league that is not even good enough to be listed on any football site.

If you think any of those CHAN guys can displace anyone in our current team, then your sentiments are beclouding your reasoning obviously, either that, or you are desperately looking for an argument

BTW, why did you avoid where I quoted you with the possible replacements for Balogun? Abi you did not see the mebtion, but you saw where I mentioned someone else?

Those guys played the qualifiers in the run up to the 2013 Afcon winning squad.
The super Eagles haven't managed to qualify for an Afcon ever since. It wasn't the case of being at the right place when they participated fully in the qualifiers.
Irrespective of how anyone feels about it, they played their role and are certified legends, since they were in the squad that won gold for Nigeria.

The Anthony Ujah that you are trying to project was invited to the Super Eagles what were his stats in the GWG?

Brown Ideye was frozen out of the team due to dwindling performances.

Eneramo was a player you and I know didn't have it good in the Super Eagles.

Uche Nwofor, was a product of our youth system and his career was on the rise. He had two descent seasons leading to the world cup. He was one of our hottest young strikers then.

Aging Emenike was our only established number 9 then as Ujah, Ideye, and Eneramo had all fallen out of favour. We needed a young striker who could grow to become our next number 9. Uche Nwofor was it.

Uche Nwofor deserved to be in that team 100%.

Why should one of them be invited? Is there a space they can occupy? Are they better than what is on ground?

What will be unfair will be making way for someone who isn't as good as those on the team and dropping a better player simply because one bros is in CHAN.

Thank God our next friendlies are in Europe and NFF will not be willing to spend flight money on anyone who isn't in Europe unless said person is exceptional
You might call it sentiment , but what is ours, is ours. The league belongs to us.We should learn to reward hardwork.

for a player that had a regular play season in the npfl to go the world cup...and play that rubbish was disastrous. for mikel and Moses it was understandable because they barely played that season in the epl

HAHAHA grin
And some people will claim they are not biased. Do you know how many freekicks Mikel alone have wasted for the super eagles? Not to talk of Moses.
Picking out a player for missing a free-kick while absolving the other for doing the same thing. grin

This is even worse than what some always perceived as hatred stance of Michael2,goldfish80,komne and forgiveness on Eagles when they make critical analysis of the team.

What am reading here on CHAN team is not critical analysis but serious bashing which must be tone down.

My brother, the players have really suffered. If they all sat on their backside we would have no league but they get talked about as if they were touts with no intelligence.

don't worry, Rohr is planning to get Akpoguma and Uduokhai....since the friendlies are in Europe, I fully expect that the players who will be given a chance are those in Europe, for obvious money issues. NFF will not want to waste money even if they have enough

These home-based players will only be able to get their chance in May, when the farewell match is played and by that time, it may be too late.

So, anybody expecting CHAN Eagles in the team in March should tamp down on their expectations

The CHAN tourney is just like disarming the strong men and arming the weak men and asking them to fight.

Nigeria remains the only West African team left in the tournament. West Africa has the highest export of quality players to other parts of the world. So it is no surprise that they have presented poor teams in this tournament.

Imagine a team like Namibia beating Ivory Coast, Rwanda drawing with Nigeria, Cameroon cannot win a single game in a group that has Congo, Angola and Burkina Faso. Ghanaian, Senegalese, and Malian teams even crashed out in the qualifiers

Now, the problem is this CHAN has been awarded a ranking point of 3 which is exactly same as that of the regular AFCON. This is a serious dis-service as so many weak teams would gain points and become highly ranked. While the real heavy weights themselves especially those from West Africa will really lose ranking points.

The rankings would become pseudo. When you see teams like Namibia, Libya, Angola, Congo and Sudan really limping over some heavy weights you understand what I am talking about.

Many pages back we were talking about how Nigeria can move to top 10 in the World. But with a tournament like CHAN it is not likely that any African team can make it because with this kind of tournament, the heavy weights will continue to struggle. For eg we have lost about 30 ranking points already with that draw with Rwanda.

You don't gain or lose any points for not participating in this CHAN tournament.
Egypt does not take part in CHAN. Could that be a smart decision?

This CHAN tournament. I am still scratching my head.

The tournament aims to develop Local African football. You can't claim to be giants while your local league is trash. Development should be all round.
The big countries will be the biggest winners if they took their leagues more serious.
The tournament is a blessing to African football.
