Since your sponsor is not a family member, you will have to establish why the person is spending so much on you to further your education in canada and not your home country. People on this thread have gotten approval with a sponsor that is not family. Using a family makes it easier to show the availability of funds. If you take your time to go through this thread, you should see someone with a sponsor that is not family. I suggest you speak with the person on the steps he or she took.

Congrats on your admission to Queens. Sorry for the disappointing disposition on your visa application. You might want to apply without your wife. That will show a strong home tie. And work really hard on your SOP. You got this man!! When you speak of an indigenous scholarship, what and where is that from? Hope not Nigeria cos they are generally distrustful of scholarships from Nijia.

By checking the requirements of each schools and applying the school that suits you. and yes it is expensive

So I just finished from a Nigerian uni with a third class, which was honestly due to combination of several issues, most of which were somewhat beyond my control. I know this makes it almost totally impossible to get a canadian masters admission, and it is very hard to get TRV for PGD admission. So here's what I have on my mind, and I'd like to know if it makes sense. I want to get admission for a PGD here in Nigeria. I'll strive to get outstanding grades. Please, can this compensate for my poor undergraduate grade, and make me qualified for masters admission in Canada? If not, what are the other options that I have? Getting TRV for PGD is hard but not impossible. with a well packaged application, you will scale through. .

Also, you can carry out more research on Admission requirements for masters programme in some universities. To the best of my knowledge, I know some schools
a) check the last two years cgpa. How was your grade in the last two years?

b) Some schools require you to write GRE if your academic standing can not be determined from your undergraduate grades.

Looking at this, Employment letter of sponsor, 6 months Pay-slip.

I want to sponse myself but my net pay every month is around 10,000 natural because I have taken loan, but I want to get money from other sources to improve my account.

My question is that if my payslips read net pay of 10,000 naira won't it raise an issue with visa officer

But my gross is 113,000 naira before any deduction, should I offset all my loans from the payslip

You have good resources to self sponsor yourself and get your TRV. I'll suggest you make the payment for your 1st year tuition to convince the visa officer you are truly going to study and make available $10,000 CAD living expenses for the 1st year in your statement of account. You can use the $5,000 CAD scholarship as the other funds when filling the IMM form.

As for the home ties, you can add your siblings birth certificate and also include your parents biodata passport page.
If you are working, include your employment letter and draft a good SOP saying you are returning back to work when you are done with your studies. Get a letter of introduction/reference from your place of work, also include your pay stubs/slips (4-6months). Also include any paperwork regarding the investment you said you have. All these serves as good home ties.

You also use a co-sponsor that has at least 3m in the account just to show the Visa officer you have funds for the subsequent year of study.

If you can gather all these, you'll have successfully proof to the visa officer you are a genuine student and your TRV awaits you.

Firstly, i must commend you for seeing beyond the grade you made from undergraduate and for opting to better your chances with an improvement. Kudos.

Getting your PGD in Nigeria is not a bad idea. Infact, it will give you an edge when you eventually apply for admission(if you achieve a very good result)and a study permit.

This will depend on the specific area/field your proposed study would be and the requirements of your program. If the master degree program is in same field and a progression of the PGD, you most likely would stand a chance if you do exceptionally well as the master degree program offer would be precedent on your most recent academic performance and qualification(s).

Also note that, admission to Canadian schools are not completely subjected to the applicant's grade.

Research interested in, Statement of intent, prior professional or academic activities and overall suitability of the applicant for the applied program will also be considered.

Another option is to apply for another undergraduate program. This option may be tough as you will have to really convince a visa officer that your primary intention is to study. They will consider your decision to study another undergrad program, the rationale behind such decision and your likelyhood to leave Canada at the end of the program. Hi,

There are a lot of possible loop holes in what you're planning to do.

You'll definitely have to give the VO concrete proof that you've been busy since graduation hence your employment history will go against you and you'll be classified inadmissible.

If you borrow the money, you'll have to convincingly explain to the VO why you have a lump sum deposit just prior to your visa application else you'll be getting a definite denial.

If you go ahead to borrow you can return the money immediately after you get your statement of account but the problem I think is that in a case where you're denied visa be it for financial reasons or otherwise and you have already returned the borrowed money, you'll have to borrow again to apply for visa again. Any meticulous VO will notice the trend of lump deposit prior to your first application, a withdrawal after the application and another deposit prior to your second application. That's gonna be a no no leading to another denial.

Think carefully before you do anything.
