If only Nigerians understand the secrets of how money, the economy and the government works...treasury bills is EVIL.the government is increasing our national debt sellling out treasury bills(ie creating IOUs).the evil thing is that its still the citizens that will still pay this debt and the interest on the debt...This is how people see treasury bills:A government borrowing from the masses promising to pay with interest...of course that is what it is...But time to pay what does the government do? They sign an outrageous check to Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).(In this case they'll sign 252 billion naira check) FROM AN EMPTY account.Yes an EMPTY account...The CBN now issue this check to NSPM(Nigeria Security Printing and Minting Plc).that check is like a license to print money...That is how money is printed...when the government contiues this process over and over again it devalues our currency leading to inflation...why do you think prices of goods and sevices keep going up?This is the cause...
NOTE:be ready for a hype in prices of goods in few months from now...

They are not sharing money....they are rather receiving loans from individuals to the tune of a total 252bn...FT will pay back with interest at stipulated times

so if I give 1m, I will get 1.6m at the end of the year?
Wrong!
At 14.16% per annum , #1m will give you an interest of #141, 600. The good thing about tbills is dat it's risk free and you get your interest upfront.

Student or Graduate of Economics, please educate me on this:

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TREASURY BILL AND A BOND?

The highest duration you can get for tbills is 1yr. The regular bond could be 5 or 10 yrs. ..or in some cases (rare)up to 20yrs (you need a min of #50.1m to buy unless from the secondary market). The total "interest" for tbills is paid upfront while for bonds you get it twice yearly (half of total after every 6 months).
There's also the savings bond (min investment of 1k and max of 50m) that has duration of 2 or 3 yrs. ..your "interest" is paid after every quarter.
Each of these come with it's interest rate

They are both fixed income financial instrument issues mostly by the government. What majority differs TB from Bonds is the duration. TB is more of a money market instrument while Bonds are capital market instruments .
