Senegal 92, my first major football heartbreak. When we lost to Ghana, i cried. I was very young and not that interested in Algiers '90.

Keshi was at fault for the goal, we conceded against Senegal.

That Ghana game! Chai!

My Edward Anser of Iwuanyanwu (my club then) was in goal for Ghana. Keeper wey we dey manage for our naija league then come turn stumbling block for naija in that match o.

We had some football crazy Ghanaian fans in my neighborhood then. oh come and see the mockery we received. That Ghanaian player that scored that winner: Prince Opoku Polly. I will never forget that name.
I could not eat that night despite how my mum persuaded me. But I later ate sha. When the shock don commot for my body nobody reminded me say I Nova chop night food.

That of Algiers 90. I cried when Algeria scored the 4th goal in that opener. I couldn't watch again. I left to the corridor to cry my hearts out. When Nigeria pulled one back my elder brothers called me in. Only for minutes later Algeria made it 5. Raba Madjer. That guy. Chai!

What of Maroc '88 final? We scored a clean goal (Henry Nwosu) but it was disallowed. Only for that dubious ref to award Cameroon a soft penalty. I think Eguavoen caused it.

That one na annoyance everybody take finish that match. Our team had a good tournament overall and were accorded a heroic welcome.

The 1984 final na Nigeria scored first o. Muda Lawal. How we allowed Cameroon to score 3 pass us is still a mystery to me cause I only have memories of the first half. I didn't like football like that then.

1994 Super Eagles wiped away all our tears after many years of shocking defeats.

Speaking only of African Talents outside Nigerian talents of that era. Never really heard of Bukande... Hmmm... Will check him out in time. Thank you Elder Sir.

Oga icon4s pls dey post those videos especially maroc 88,Algiers 90,Senegal 92 and Tunisia 94 for guys to see the best generation of Super eagles.

Oga I get them plenty.

Tell the young generation how the neighborhood would go agog with wild jubilations each time Nigeria scored a goal.

Nothing like EPL or Laliga then. Everybody was glued to the Nigerian match.

The thunderous shouts of Gooooooooaaaaalllllll from different houses was just something else especially for games played at midnight. Na to party till day break dey follow.

Football was serious business then. It was like war.

Nigerian Passport Stops Jerry Mbakogu From Joining Leeds, Pledges Future To Super Eagles

The proposed move of Carpi striker Jerry Mbakogu to EFL Championship outfit Leeds United will not happen in the January transfer window.
Transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio writes on his website that the Lagos-born striker is not in the possession of an Italian passport, a prerequisite for him to play in the United Kingdom.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old earlier informed allnigeriasoccer.com that his international future lies with the Super Eagles despite the fact he would become eligible to represent the Italian national team in the near future.

''As a Nigerian though, I'd like to play for my country, I grew up in Lagos and left when I was 12.''

Mbakogu tallied his eighth goal of the season across all competitions in front of Leeds United scouts on Saturday, January 27.

Bukande was one of the top Senegalese footballers then.He was their captain. He was Just like Sadio Mane of today.

He was part of their coaching crew to Korea/Japan 2002 WC.

Those days na individuals dey win games for countries o.

That was the same tournament that Ghana also had Abedi Pele and Anthony Yeboa, Ivory Coast had Joel Tiehi, Abdoulahi Traore, and Ben Sala. Nigeria had Yekini and Keshi, Zambia had Kalusha Bwalya and Chikabala, Guinea had Abubakar Titi Camara, and a host of others.

AFCON was like war then o.

Perfect,1984 was a team with young players like Keshi Stephen,Peter Rufai,Patrick Okala,Ademola Adeshina,Sofoluwe,Humphery Edebor,Henry Nwosu with senior Musa Lawal, not easy in the final cos Cameroon were full of experience players like Roger mills,Emma Kunde,Thomas Nkono,Antoine Bell, these are Espana 82 WC players.

Oh Edward Ansah nearly play for Nigeria when he was with Leventis United but the presence of Rufai didn't help the situation but later opted for his home country.John Mastroudeus was not happy when he declared for Ghana, till today Ansah remain the best foreign kepper to keep in Nigeria league.

Algiers 90 was a tournament that launched Westerhoff cos after losing 5-1 in opening march against Algeria the team went to the final and losing to the same team 1 nil, most of our foreign based stayed away from Algiers 90 due to club engagement except Andrew Use,Ademola Adeshina and Rashidi Yekini. This tournament gave us Daniel Amokachie,Alloy Agu and Uche Okechukwu.

Henry Nwosu goal against Cameroon in the final of maroc 88 was a day light robbery and the Gabonese referee Jamel was just horrible in the final cos he later gave penalty to Cameroon after a tackle from Sunday Eboigbe against Roger Mills,Milla Roger scored the penalty. This was a tournament Keshi need to shuttled between Morocco and Belgium with private jet from Anderlecht.

Nigeria against Ghana was a semi final and as you said man no fit eat after that match cos i have Ghanians as neighbors then, not easy.It was a match that really exposed Alloy Agu and a match that really showed that Keshu was a great leader.I remember Siasia hit a bar on the tail end of the match but very good match though we lost.

People have stopped following football generally and the followership of the Eagles has drastically reduced.

I watched clips of a game recently: Nigeria vs Italy, FIFA U17 semifinal, Canada 87.

Echoes of the wild jubilations that followed after Christopher Nwosu scored that goal just rushed through my mind. I saw the young Dimeji Lawal in that clip and how skillful he was. I was now wondering what was the hype about Musa Yahaya sef? Honestly those boys were so good. Kog45, please compare Dimeji Lawal with Musa Yahaya.

With the way I see happenings on this thread, I don't really think organizing a physical meet-up would be a very good idea, unless of course you would prepare your mind to come back home with a scarred face, broken head, swollen lips, redesigned dentitions or worse of all a depleted self esteem.

Yes, right there! Let's try as much as we can not to take these issues too personally, ejoo ni tori olorun!

If two adults decide to have a go at each other.

To me, that's fine, they are totally aware of the consequences of their actions, and me telling them to keep quiet wouldn't change anything, and in fact would be an insult to their personalities and mine.

So if you've consciously pick up a fight with someone and expect me to pick sides or separate the both of you, be ready for a long wait, because, if it had happened in a physical environment, don't be surprised when I walk to my car and zoom off leaving you all to settle the coas.

I really respect tbaba1234, and his type of argument, he would never resort to personal attacks, his own is point by point till you both find a way to settle things.

He's not one to get lost in the Business of the argument, he'd continue to post his short but useful info on our players.

If you want to fight, fight, and don't come and be making others feel guilty for not separating the fight.

O boy Keshi was a baller those days o.

His name will always remain among the elites list of Nigerian footballers. A defender with so much influence. The Big boss.

That Maroc 88 final pained me o.
That of Algiers 90 we had already conceded defeat before that final.A team that beat us 5-1 at the group stage? Yekini was really instrumental to our road to the final.

I have that clip of our 5-1 defeat and 1-0 lose in the final.

I don't know if you had joined this forum when I opined that the Tunde Disu's Saudi '89 U20 boys had more quality than the Manu's 2015 New Zealand U20 boys.

As a person that saw both teams what can you say?
