Getting TRV for PGD is hard but not impossible. with a well packaged application, you will scale through. .

Also, you can carry out more research on Admission requirements for masters programme in some universities. To the best of my knowledge, I know some schools
a) check the last two years cgpa. How was your grade in the last two years?

b) Some schools require you to write GRE if your academic standing can not be determined from your undergraduate grades.

Best regards

Thank you for your reply. My CGPA in the last two session is around 3.0/5.0. I'm willing to write GMAT, if a great score would boost my chances considerably (like give 80% chance).

Austinpee4:

Firstly, i must commend you for seeing beyond the grade you made from undergraduate and for opting to better your chances with an improvement. Kudos.

Getting your PGD in Nigeria is not a bad idea. Infact, it will give you an edge when you eventually apply for admission(if you achieve a very good result)and a study permit.

If a PGD would compensate and qualify you for a masters admission in Canada?

This will depend on the specific area/field your proposed study would be and the requirements of your program. If the master degree program is in same field and a progression of the PGD, you most likely would stand a chance if you do exceptionally well as the master degree program offer would be precedent on your most recent academic performance and qualification(s).

Also note that, admission to Canadian schools are not completely subjected to the applicant's grade.

Research interested in, Statement of intent, prior professional or academic activities and overall suitability of the applicant for the applied program will also be considered.

Another option is to apply for another undergraduate program. This option may be tough as you will have to really convince a visa officer that your primary intention is to study. They will consider your decision to study another undergrad program, the rationale behind such decision and your likelyhood to leave Canada at the end of the program. This option must go with cogent and 'beyond reasonable doubt' explanation to convince officers that you need the undergrad program and your plans are not to immigrate.

So weigh your options, listen to your inner voice and decide because at the end, you alone will know the driving force(s) in making your decision. This will also help you during your visa application eventually.

Regards.

Thank you very much for your reply. The PGD I intend to pursue in Nigeria would be totally in line with my intended masters. I intend to do it at NOUN btw...I learnt they have a somewhat better system, with no need to physically deal with bitter, insensitive and corrupt lecturers/staff.

I understand that the admission departments look at an application package as a whole. But, if there's a cut-off grade, there won't be much hope in cases like mine, would there? Or is the 3.0/4.0 not a "hard" cut-off?

Getting another undergraduate degree is a no-no for me. My undergraduate in Nigeria left a sour taste in my mouth....I'm just trying to leave everything that looks like my past experience behind and move ahead in life. I'm not sure if I have the mental strength to endure repeating that level all over and excelling. I'd like alternatives that have some sort of progression in them. I appreciate that you gave the option though.

Thank you again.

For the first part, what kind of visa are you on, in South Africa, ... if it's a visit visa, it's not advisable to apply for a study permit from there as your status in SA will be questioned.

Please I sent you a mail since yesterday.

If you have transcript, you are good to go. Many have gotten TRV without job as long as you can show other ties to Nigeria. Could be strong family, social or professional ties or community involvement in Nigeria. Your parents and siblings are not enough strong ties, you have to add something else. Money in the bank personal asset in Nigeria or landed property that you hope to inherit.

Good day pals
I have been a silent reader here for a couple of months now.
I got my offer letter for fall 2017 sometime in March 2017 and proceeded with an online application( heard it was faster and more convenient) on the 5th of May2017, biometrics was done on the 9th of May2017 and I checked processing, it was about 14weeks then, so I relaxed.
Wrote cic a couple of times when resumption was really close and my village people hijacked the mails. I had no choice but to defer the admission to fall 2018, because that is the only slot available.
As God will have it, I got a medical call late November and a passport request 29th of Jan 2018.
I wasn’t going to post this until I see the visa, but I want to encourage those who have been waiting this long not to give up hope, I pray you cannot wait this long and get a refusal IJN.

Congrats man, quite a long time, one has to really wonder loud why they keep applications for 7 to 8 months before adjudicating it. The personification of sleeping on duty at the expense of torturing the psyche of anxious applicants. These people need to improve. The U.S. application, you find out on the same day saving you long and drawn out psychological torture. Anyways, not to complain too much, "all is well" they say, "that ends well."

Hello everyone,

So I’ve been waiting for 28 weeks and I just got a mail asking for a medical exam. Although I submitted it when I first applied
Will I have to pay for another exam or I should just go to the hospital again...
Should I be hopeful too because I was beginning to lose hope

7 months? Lord have mercy!

Hello MichyEhi,
Please be guided that Canadian embassy don't regard Company bank statement as proof of funds towards an applicant. The Visa officer knows that no company will spend her funds meant for the maintenance and upkeep/expense of the company to sponsor an applicant abroad. What have you done for the company to deserve such benefit?
How long have you worked for the company that they decide to sponsor you?
You can only include company bank statement to support your application, not as the principal proof of funds. So re-strategies and make sure more funds are readily available in your name or in your sponsor personal savings.

All the best!
hello, what if the company is your father's? and he wants you to take over from him once you are done studying?

You can apply from SA.

You don't need the original copy of your waec. You only need a photocopy of all documents. They only collect original of statement of account in the embassy

Your maternal uncle can sponsor as long as you can show proof of why he wants to spend so much on you and he still has enough for his upkeep and dependents

Best wishes

Hello,

You have to research on the necessary requirements /documents yourself. This can be done by using Google to check the admission requirements of the school you want to apply to.

klbakare,
Even if its your father's company and you will be coming back to the company after studies, you need to present your father personal savings bank statements to evidence his personal financial establishment. You only add your father's company bank statement to support your application, not as principal proof of fund to applicant. Unless your father can get a letter from the bank stating that he is the sole signatory to his company's account. Then he provide his company documents clearly showing him(your father) as the highest share holder in the company. Then you will be fine.

Have you gotten admission to a canadian University?
If not, try to secure admission first..... Don't bother about study permit now....
Get your undergraduate transcripts, look up for schools in canada and submit admission applications.
Afterwards, you apply for study permit.

Hey House,

Please, I really need help and advice.

Got admission to University of Guelph with schorlaship to cover my tuition for two years.

But the school is asking me to provide a letter of of financial guarantee FOR MY COST OF LIVING FOR TWO YEARS sent directly from the bank on my behalf with my sponsor account number and it should contain 10million naira.

Please has anyone had this issue even after getting some scholarship.

And secondly pls, I will appreciate if there is anyone on this platform that can help me send the letter through the bank to them or can suggest a solution.

By the way, have been able to raise my cost of living for a year, all I need is just to get the letter to them to get the admission letter.

Thank You.
You need someone to help you get the latter to them? I don't understand. Can you explain better?
To my understanding , all the school is asking for is your statement of account to show you have your living expenses. Go to your bank and ask for your statement of account then you can post it via any courier company to the school or you pay the bank to send it in your behalf. Nobody on this forum will help you do that

Hello house,

What is your opinion about spousal work permit? For instance, if granted study permit and one's spouse submits application within a month for Canadian spousal work permit before the principal applicant travels to Canada, what are the chances of being granted work permit?

Better still, will it be safe for my spouse to do Canadian Visitor's visa application then apply for open work permit when in Canada?

The idea is for us to travel at once as a family without visa denial from any side.

Your contributions will go along way in guiding our decisions.

I have reviewed your application and documents you submitted in its support. Subsection 11(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act provides that a foreign national must, before entering Canada, apply to an officer for a visa or any other document required by the Regulations. The visa or document shall be issued if, following an examination, the officer is satisfied that the foreign national is not inadmissible and meets the requirements of this Act.

I have concerns that you have not fulfilled the requirement put upon you by section 16(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, which states:

16(1) A person who makes an application must answer truthfully all questions put to them for the purpose of the examination and must produce a visa and all relevant evidence and documents that the officer reasonably requires.

On the current application form, you indicate that you have never been refused any kind of visa, admission, or been ordered to leave Canada or any other country. According to information in our records, you were refused visas to the United States in 2006, 2007, 2013 (two times) and 2014.

Please note that if it is found that you have engaged in misrepresentation in submitting your application, you may be found to be inadmissible under section 40(1)(a) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. A finding of such inadmissibility would render you inadmissible to Canada for a period of five years according to section 40(2)(a):

40(1) A permanent resident or a foreign national is inadmissible for misrepresentation (a) for directly or indirectly misrepresenting or withholding material facts relating to a relevant matter that induces or could induce an error in the administration of this Act

40(2) The following provisions govern subsection (1): (a) the permanent resident or the foreign national continues to be inadmissible for misrepresentation for a period of five years following, in the case of a determination outside Canada, a final determination of inadmissibility under subsection (1) or, in the case of determination in Canada, the date the removal order is enforced.

I would like to give you an opportunity to respond to this information. I will afford you fifteen (15) days from the date of this letter to make any representations in this regard. Please use the address noted on this letter for all correspondence, and clearly indicate your file number. If you do not respond to this request within the time outlined above, your application will be assessed based on the information available, which will likely result in a refusal.

You must respond to this concern via e-mail. Paper submissions will not be accepted. If you have supporting documents that you would like to provide in your response, please scan these and attach them to your e-mail response.

Thank you for the interest you have shown in Canada.
