please, I need clarification on Magnum PT-100 SCC.

from the manual, it states you can connect up-to 5 panels (with 37.4Voc and 37.8Voc) in series.
looks like the SCC actually works best with more panels in series.

And I'm planning on using it for Solarworld 325w panels with 46.1Voc. Following the numerous calculations in the PT-100 manual, it seems I can connect 4 of the solarworld panels in series without any issue.

Anybody that has experience with it can help..

Friends,

Yesterday I added 2*250w panel to my existing 4*250w making a total of 6*250w(1500w). This upgrade is driven by the need to run the pumping machine on inverter which was done successfully with 1000w but the drain on my batteries was appreciable. Also I should go to 70% off grid since my loads on average is about 150w cheesy
With this addiction I have moved from 2*2 configuration to 3*2 configuration with input Voc @ 106v(thats how epever itracer loves it)
See pics of before and after. Will post harvest later today.... Hope the Sun shines well.

I do not know about magnum cc but for EPSOLAR, the best is that Voc should be 3-4 times battery voltage while Fangusun flexmax is about 2-3times battery voltage. Read the manual and you will see the recommended Voc or you can experiment.... this is a thread for enthusiasts[quote author=mcTrinity post=64767457][/quote]

Yes o.... Nice neighbours. Sometimes I move it more into their compound if I see shadow esp when the Sun has moved extreme North

That sounds very stressful...What happens when you're out of town/home?
You may want to consider moving them to the roof.

Happy Sunday forumites .. Its been all dusty in my hood ..Ground mount has its advantages as you can easily wash off dirts from the surface of your panels. I had to wash my pv array"300w×8" few days ago , the yield has seriously improved to daily 55-59a as usual esp when we run a 1hp split AC at night to 50% DOD smiley

Yes you can connect 4 panels with VoC of 46volts in series to the Magnum PT100 without issues.

The Magnum PT100 lists VoC limit as Max PV input voltage: 200 VDC + battery voltage, or 240 VDC - whichever is lower AND
Max PV operating voltage: 190 VDC

If you like risk you can even do 5 such panels in series sef grin

I know 2 sites here in Lagos who are using 330w 45-46v VoC panels setup as 4 panels in series connected to the Magnum PT100 without issues.

Oga Frankie. This is very true - ground mounting panels makes it easier to do routine cleaning and maintain peak yields all year round - in fact my family house has the panels mounted on a disused fishtank (waist level) so that my Mum's help can easily clean it as often as required.

Is this your own PV array displayed in the picture in your post? How are you dealing with the apparent heavy shading and shadows from all those surrounding trees/branches/leaves and other objects?

Good morning Sir, I seldomly observe my neighbour's plantain trees and I must say it dosnt disturb my yield. The sun is directly facing-hitting on PV array as you know I improvised temporarily with a wooden structure and also put some factors"shading,max ventilation,elevation" into consideration . it depends on how I positioned my phone camera , let me know if I can get a snapshot from top floor k

NOTE: my neighbor is understanding .. It's very easy to cut off plantain leafs when it crosses its boundaries grin

Twice in a year is not stressful na... I can decide to leave it there... or not move at all, just a small shadow towards evening. Roof is not OK in my case

Today, I reconfigured the array from a 4nos parallel system to a 2series, 2parallel configuration. With the hope of stepping up the voltage headroom to be potentially converted to current. Also with higher voltage along the 10-metre PV supply line , less losses.

Yeah feel so great especially when using prepaid meter that way when you switch off PHCN you keep the credit until when needed esp for high loads or poor weather. Kudos cheesy

Oga NiyiOmoIyunade you are needed here ! When last did you load your PRE-PAID meter cheesy . As for us , we still use monthly estimates of 1500-2k not minding PHCN rarely remembers us like Ikorodu & Maryland people wink

It's very sweet! Especially when you recharge like me 3times in a year! 1500 on each recharge!
I use it to pump water and ironing alone. Every other stuff is by d Sun.

As for cleaning of panels on the roof, i have my plumber construct an opening where water flows into the tank if I'm pumping water. The opening has a valve dat can be opened and closed, i open that place connect my long hose tk it up to the tank stand wher I can visibly see my panels, pump water so as to get enough pressure and spray the hell out of it. Problem solved grin

Phcn will soon restrategize, so as to deal with prepaid meter users, niyi and Co watch out, you will soon hear fees like maintenance fee, and lekki tolgate fee grin

Yes, i tried it at the time with 5 panels (300w) in series but i noticed that i went into the High Voc range(188 - 210). CC will only work when Voc is less than 187v. Since i had only 15panels, i had to return to 3 panel in series.

Currently, i am doing 3 in series

Am sure ur PV are in parallel . I can't just take my eyes off ur low wattage and high amps.

Just as oga idsolar suggest to me on phone in December, I climb my low roof bi-weekly to clean my PV and I have never been disappointed.

Am beginning to feel my neighbors think Solar get wahala joor grin grin even though I have dedicated an extension bracket for their phone charging.
