2. Quick certificate : within 2 years, you can also be among the working class and some have succeeded with their National diploma ND certificate You don’t have to study for 5 years before you start earning salary with your certificate and this has been very
helpful, especially for those who have financial issues.

3. Change of study and environment: Yes, this is another benefit of polytechnic education.
You can decide to change your course of study after your national diploma if there any reason to do so. Moreso, you can run a national diploma programme in Lagos and continue your HND in another polytechnic in any part of Nigeria. You can also go further to study in the university in any prefer state.

4. Easy admission: Easily as it sound, polytechnic admission is

Only number 2 seems to make some sense, yet it is ND that has that advantage, NOT HND as the topic suggests... Buh still, ND takes two years then the normal mandatory 1year I.T (that's 3years) before u get the ND certificate, a university student shd already be in his final year by then (without strike; which polytechnics also experience anyway).. If it's HND you want to attain, someone who started university same time with u would be concluding NYSC by the time u are writing ur final exams in school.

Easier to gain admission:: ask kadpoly applicants

Jobs designed for ND/HND only:: yes because the employers do NOT want to pay more than maybe 40k as salary and funny enough, those are the kinds of jobs where u would be used from AM to PM even on weekends.

All certificates are equal:: tell a yabatech graduate that he is the same with a kaura namoda (zamfara) graduate...

If not for the law that created HND and polytechnics....HND for be superior to BSc. Technically, HND is better. But all in all, the law says BSc is superior and can go higher. HND on the order hand is for middle level management at most. I hope this law is repealed soon!

I just don’t understand how people come up with posts like this; maybe to boost their ego or what?

All things being equal , HND should never have an advantage over BSC(and yes it does not) , rather they should be at par.

However, Nigeria being what Nigeria is now makes HND lesser than BSC due to years of discrimination and dichotomy that has lasted too long.

I’ve seen enough top firms that their HR specifically said they don’t take HND graduates as part of their unwritten company policy. You won’t see a single HND holder in such companies. Even when u look at job adverts u see them specifying BSC as minimum qualifications and even stating 2.1 and above as the least grade.

OP wake up from your slumber look around you and realize you're still in Nigeria. Even people with MSc are competing agressively for jobs. Over here this economy believe in accumulating certificates more.

Its easier to get a menial job with ond or HND.
