KlausMike: In linking your application online, in the section you have Given Name, you have to input both your First Name and Middle Name then your surname for Family Name. Hope this works for you because people often make the mistake of putting only their First Name where you have Given Name though I agree it should have been Given Names 1 Like |

I have been carefully following the thread. I was denied today. I submitted the application via paper route on 11th January 2018 I believe the VO did not go through my application AT ALL. Why? I was denied on the following - TRAVEL HISTORY - I have traveled to UK,France and US. I was in US last year i renewed my US visa for another two year. I photocopied all the visa pages and i submitted it. I don't think the VO went through the application - FAMILY TIE - I am married with two kids. I am not going with them. They are staying here. Also my company wrote a letter to the Embassy which i submitted stating that the course am going for is a prerequisite for my next promotion. The company stated that after my studies i will come back to get a higher post. That am expected to resume back on so so day. I don't think the VO even open the document. -PURPOSE OF VISIT - I wrote a comprehensive SOP. Stating all the facts i need to state and following the thread on SOP. I also believe the VO did not open it nor READ it AT ALL. The course am going for is PGD and its for 10 months.I have over 5 years working experience and currently working. I am thinking of reapplying again Thanks all |

egolaw75:HELLO, sorry for the denial, i haven't applied yet, but your office stating that you will come back to a higher position doesn't tally with your reason for going for a PGD(its known that the higher the degree the better, so masters would be preferable in this scenario), with your wealth of experience you could try express entry, but if you are still determined in going to school, then go for masters, if you must try PGD, then you have to explain how it will help, if its in a different course, you could just say that you want to change positions in the company you work for, so its necessary. 3 Likes |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by jnyuwa02: 11:29am On Feb 06, 2018 |
egolaw75: If you are convinced the VO overlooked certain documents you submitted, reconsideration would be the route to go, not reapplication. VOs are flesh and blood humans too, make mistakes and change their minds sometimes if you are respectful about it and don't treat it like a right. Been given visa is a privilege and they can deny you even if you are qualified and meet every criteria. Good luck. My best advice to you though, is to apply for a master's degree. 10 months course of study is not a very serious undertaking and puts a candidate more often than not, in the column of Nigerians using a course of study as a way to abscond to Canada given the harsh realities of the economic condition in the country. 2 Likes |

Thanks guys. It is one of the requirement from the company to get the course and it is a related course to my first degree and work. What is the step for the reconsideration |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by mcobex: 11:46am On Feb 06, 2018 |
egolaw75:Sorry for the delay, Yes you did almost everything right but you made a very big mistake going for PGD (a 10 months own at that )with all your experience. I bet if you order for your file the only reason will be purpose of visit, you have BSc already with 5 years working experience so they expect you to go for something bigger (MSc). Try and order for your file then apply for MSc program |

hi jnyuwa02, thanks for this opportunity. I am asking on behalf of a friend. He wants to know the prospects of admission at carleton for Masters in Architecture. the applicant has 2 years experience, with a masters degree (3.49) and undergraduate degree (3.59) The main aim is to get a phd education and eventually settle. He intends first applying for masters, then going on to phd He is also aware of the express visa situation, and wonders if that would be better? what is your advise? |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by jnyuwa02: 12:02pm On Feb 06, 2018 |
ArcFresky: He can try both the express and student visa, whichever works. I cannot predict his chances of admission as a lot goes into that determination, not just grades alone. His recommendations submitted on his behalf by professors who taught him, his ability to write a compelling thesis proposal and statement of intent, his life experiences and what he hopes to bring to the table of discussion at the prospective school. Some first class graduates are often denied admission just because of sloppy essays they wrote for admission. Go figure. Best wishes to your friend. Ps: just to issue a caveat, if your friend has a master's already, he might want to apply for a PHd. Students trying to get a second masters often experience visa denials, except they can articulate an extraordinary reason for going for a second masters. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by jnyuwa02: 12:17pm On Feb 06, 2018 |
mcobex: He didn't really make a big mistake. PGD can be for professional training on a specific field. He needs to explain what he professionally hopes to gain and how that might improve his work status. If on reconsideration he does this and he is still rejected, he should apply for a master's. His chances getting a visa are great with a masters admission. I had worked with a fully funded candidate here who was rejected for a PGD by the VO. He didn't seek reconsideration explaining why PGD, just applied for a PHd and got in. The visa was granted expressly and the rest is history. |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by hurricanesgrace: 4:02pm On Feb 06, 2018 |
Muinnat95: Same as mine, I was denied only on financial grounds and I had more than 5m in my acct, my sponsor had close to 10m and Dom act worth $50,000 and d VO still refused me. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Daacorpaapi: 4:14pm On Feb 06, 2018 |
It's like this refusal based on finance is the trend.. Mine to was based on insufficient finance after sponsor submitted SoA of 100k$ and 15M in naira.. 2 landed properties which is developed. As we wait for the veteran's and the gurus take on this, make man farabale sleep, apply for gcms note 2morrow... Cic na me and una. hurricanesgrace: |

hurricanesgrace: Daacorpaapi: Hello Daacorpaapi and hurricanesgrace. You both are just lamenting that you were denied of your visa due to insufficient funds after presenting fat bank statement to CIC. Let me ask did you guys pay part/full tuition, while your sponspor transfers your living expenses into your dorm account since your sponsors deal with foreign currency, not only that it will go a long way in convincing the visa officer that your primary intent is to study and funds are readily accesible and exportable by applicant to Canada. Also, your sponsor source of income was it fully addressed by your sponsor in his/her letter of support and did you guys also do the same on your SOP. It might be that there are traces of lump sum deposit into your sponsors account from unknown source, which could also lead to the refusal of your visa. Additionally, please don't be deceived that submiting a huge bank statement will automatically land you your TRV. I have seen many applicants on this forum that were approved of their visas with little amount like 5-7M in their sponspors account and still scale through. Endeavor to also proof relationship with your sponsor on your next application. The last but not the least...... ORDER FOR YOUR GCMS NOTE. I wish you guys well. 3 Likes |
