GK’s shirts are pending till goal keeping issues are sorted. The Naija team has no goal keeper yet.

I hereby volunteer for the GK role. I can take the summer off to keep for Nigeria and i get to see the WC upclose. Nigeria gets to solve its Gk issue.

A win-win for everyone.

How about converting Wizkid to a goal keeper.

He is a short devil and can’t touch the upright bar even if he jumps on a trampoline but he can sing for the opponents who will forget they wanted to score against him. They let him pick the ball up pass to Ekong, Balogun or even Eze Who wouldn’t need to stress himself head butting mandzukic or getting red cards karating Aguero etc.

...and win win for everybody...Wizzy sings, opponents dances, Eagles scores and wins, Nigerians happy, gets distracted, forgets Buhari, herdsmen till after the World Cup.

England vs Cameron 1990 world cup quarter finals. red cards and two penalties.
Nigeria vs Argentina 1994 world cup, dubious calls by referee.
Nigeria vs Italy 1994, goal bound yekini pulled down by the last man in defence yet no red card given.

Please please dont mention Nigeria vs Italy 1994 again - it brought back to many pain memories

You can't use that single scenario of scoring on his debut. Didn't he do same against Man City? And he's still out on loan? You don't rate Nacho but he also scored for City on his debut. Why are u notpraising him based on that?

komekn:

Hope is being expressed because they have moved from mere potential to quality proven players who are on the ascendancy.

Every player has potential proving it is another matter with consistent continous top class performances is the issue.

With regards to SE selection for what you call the innit boys of which some may speak more Nigerian languages than you do. It should be about perfomance first then the politics of selection comes in for boys who will NEVER pay settlement fees.

There are no doubters assessment is not based on sentiment. Prove your ability that's all its very simple.

Lookman played his first game in the Bundesliga after coming on for barely 10 minutes and impacted the game and scored.

Batshuayi a bit player at Chelsea comes on in the Bundesliga for Borussia and almost scores a hattrick. Again this highlights the quality of the EPL. But then I am biased I guess.

I thought Finidi was rumoured to have been offered one of the youths jobs?

On Salisu, contrary to what peeps here are saying I trust him to deliver the goods.

A man that carried that very poor team all the way to the final needs commendation. Thank God there is an age restriction to this one so no imposing of Papa Alli, Osas Okoro and co on us.

What else can we do now but to support him.

All eyes are on the WC now. Let us face it. But after the world cup I suggest we revisit that youth players thread. The Olympic games are 2 years away meaning only players who would be 21 this year and less would be eligible. We need to focus on those players especially the ones with quality. Our comments here go places. Let us join Salisu and other youth coaches to unravel the talents that would wear our colors in the next youth competitions.

Just a quick one: Do you know Chidozie Awaziem, Victor Osimhen, Kingsley Michael, Taiwo Awoniyi, Musa Yahaya, Nura Abdulahi, Sincere Seth, Kelechi Nwakali, Samuel Chukwueze, Sadiq Umar, Ifeanyi Mathew, Steven Odey, Sunday Faleye, Moses Eneji, Ikouwem, Francis Uzoho, Maduka Okoye, and many more are all eligible to play in the next Olympics? We just need the right selection and that team would be explosive.

Super Eagles World Cup warm-up against Chile off

The Super Eagles will no longer play a World Cup warm-up against South American champions Chile because coach Gernot Rohr said it will be too close to the tournament and he is therefore apprehensive of players getting injured in such a game.

NFF bosses had claimed the Eagles will take on Chile in their last friendly on June 9 during their training camp in Austria.
An official has now said the game has been called off at the instance of Rohr, who is worried of any injuries to key stars just before the World Cup kicks off on June 14.

SCORENigeria had also earlier hinted that the Chile friendly was in danger and fellow World Cup qualifiers Morocco may now be the team to test the readiness of Nigeria for the Mundial.

The Eagles confirmed World Cup warm-up games are – vs Poland (March 23), vs Serbia (March 27), vs DRC (May 28) and vs England (June 2) and vs Czech Republic (June 6).

Good one Sire.

On John Chiedozie, I first knew him as the Lifebuoy soap boy before I knew he was a Green Eagles player. " This is John Chidozi *in Oyinbo accent* (That advert should be on youtube).Though a fringe player due to the quality of wingers we had in the team then (Odegbami and Adokiye).

I have said it before that most of our players of the 70s and 80s up to early 90s were greatly underrated and undervalued. If players like Segun Odegbami, Adokiye, Christian Chukwu, and Muda Lawal were to be playing today they would be in the best clubs in Europe. They would easily walk into the present Super Eagles.

On your comparison of Muda Lawal with Wilfred Ndidi, I still give it to Muda. Ndidi has yet to achieve close to what Muda achieved even in his early years in the Eagles. The player that would come close to Muda is Oliseh. But you are right about Oliseh being of the modern era. Most of Yekini's goals came from Oliseh's through passes. I have not seen Ndidi doing that yet. Ndidi is more of a tackler/blocker, not surprising as he started off as a CB. If Ndidi can improve on his long passes, then he will turn out about our best DM.

On Salako and John Fashanu, reminds me of those days when we were practically kneeling down for them to switch allegiance to Nigeria.

Top notch analysis from you especially remembering those market value figures. Tuale baba.

One more thing, you remember that story of "Thunder Balogun remember your left leggg!!!!!". Loz!!!!
Respect Chief icon4s the only Father of TheSuperNerd.

Yes you are right players like Segun Odegbami, Adokiye Aimesemeika,Muda Lawal,Christian Chuckwu would walked into starting line up of this present team and even US 94 players would find it tough to bench them and coach too would find it difficult to decide, pls check it out

Segun Odegbami vs Finidi George

Adokiye Aimesemeika vs Emmanuel Amuneke

Muda Lawal vs Sunday Olishe

Christian Chuckwu vs Uche Okechukwu/Chidi Nwanu.

Yes Ndidi still has a milestones to climb to be equal to Muda Lawal and Sunday Olishe but he has the potential.

***Oga icon4s i made a comment sometimes ago and i mentioned that Nigeria vs Tunisia match was 1978 WC qualifier(Odiye scored Nigeria)but you said it was1982 WC qualifier which i accepted

But going through Segun Odegbami's preview of yet to be launched book he said it was 1978 WC qualifier and that nobody should blame Odiye but him for the loss.

Imoh Ezekiel to quit UD Las Palmas if they are relegated from La Liga

Nigeria Olympic international Imoh Ezekiel will quit Las Palmas should they be relegated from La Liga, according to his representatives.
The forward, who has previously featured for Anderlecht and Standard Liege in Belgium, quit Turkish club Konyaspor over outstanding wages and signed a contract for two and a half years with Las Palmas as a free agent.

A representative of the player revealed: ”His mission is to save them from relegation, but if they went down, he will be a free player. We have that as a clause in the contract.”

Las Palmas already have Nigeria stars Oghenekaro Etebo and
Emmanuel Emenike, who are both on loan.
The island club are still second bottom of the La Liga table with 17 points from 22 matches.

Success Dropped From Malaga Squad To Face Atletico, Ideye Included
By James Agberebi

Nigeria forward, Isaac Success, has not been included in Malaga’s 19-man squad released for their Spanish LaLiga home clash against Atletico Madrid on Saturday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The list which was drawn up by Malaga’s Head Coach Jose Gonzalez, was announced on the club’s verified Twitter handle on Friday.
However, Success’ Nigerian teammate, Brown Ideye, is included in the squad that will persecute the game against Atletico.
Both Success and Ideye joined Malaga on loan from Watford and Tianjin Teda respectively in January until the end of the season.

They made their debuts on Monday in Malaga’s 1-0 away defeat to Las Palmas.
On parade for Las Palmas was Nigerian midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo who is also on loan from Portuguese top flight club Feirense.
On Thursday, Success was officially unveiled as a player of Malaga.

Malaga are currently bottom in the LaLiga table on 13 points, while Atletico are second on 49 points.
