Have been looking at the Saratov air crash and while poo does happen occasionally I'm not convinced this was an accident, especially since the MSM is on about 'ice on sensors' may have caused crash. Speed sensors that were iced over may have caused a passenger jet to crash near Moscow, killing all 71 people on board, investigators sayhttp://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-43048921 REALLY!? After decades of flying in such conditions accident free? I don't think so!! The timing comes a day after the Caucanderthals lost an F 16 over Syria to Russian AD. Fyi,the Russian charter jet crash in the Sinai in October 2015 happened just after they began their Syrian intervention. Coincidence? I think not! That's just what these people do.

frumentius: 20,000 feet!! can a MANPAD bring it down? nemesis4u? |
Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by Nobody: 10:03pm On Feb 14, 2018 |
lionel4power: Depends on the manpad range some can target at 20000 feet. At high altitudes there is increase in flight range due to rarified atmosphere. Eg artillery shells with 30km range at sea level can go to 40km at high altitudes. plus depends on tactics to gain range like firing from mountain when the UAV flies close by. Or maybe the UAV lost altitude while executing a manuever. Thereby bringing it into range of manpad etc Or it was forced to lose altitude, sometimes weather/wind conditions cause the UAV flight to change dramatically. Thereby bringing it into range of manpad etc. Controlling UAVs in valleys and mountain ranges is tad difficult . Or simply incompetent operator Reasons r many but who knows what the correct reason is. |
Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by lionel4power(m): 10:51pm On Feb 14, 2018 |
nemesis4u:but can a MANPAD thermal sensor detect heat radiation at such altitude? considering that with such distance, the UAV heat signature should have been greatly dispersed and diminished. Also remember that the UAV is propeller driven and its thermal and UV heat signature is minimal. |
Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by Nobody: 11:06pm On Feb 14, 2018 |
lionel4power: 1.dual seeker IR/UV 2.at night things get tad easier for the IR seeker. 3.every propulsion system has a exhaust and therefore a thermal signature. 4.at day aircrafts reflect UV radiation which is different from background UV radiation so the UV seeker can lock on it , if so programmed, generally UV seeker is used to discriminate between target and flares. |

K15 wooden round - missile, gas generator etc all seal packed inside a cannister. K15 is a quasi ballistic cum cruise missile , it does not follow a ballistic path and travels inside the atmosphere performing various manuvers at hypersonic speeds.

Israel appears to have abandoned using radar-guided weapons to down the Iranian drone. Judging from the IDF supplied video, it almost certainly appears that the drone was destroyed by a missile controlled with an electro-optical sensor, allowing the helicopter pilot to track the drone and kill it. So, the lesson is that electro-optical systems are important in dealing with small platforms and against stealth targets. AsiaTimes

newafricaken254: I hope they don't get destroyed . Nemesis can you compare this tank with an advance t-90 or it's in the league of the armata? |
Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by Nobody: 5:37pm On Feb 15, 2018 |
tdayof: Lol it seems we r on opposite sides It is based on the old Patton tank , it's too old and even with upgrades, I don't think it will be in the league of the newer t90 , forget about armata. But who knows let's see how it fares, I am no expert to comment conclusively on it. Fun fact Indi... has a town named Patton Nager because of the large no of destroyed and abandoned enemy Patton tanks found there. After that US started withdrawing their Patton tanks due to the vulnerabilities exposed during the war 1 Like |
