@zan

What's the new immigration law
Immediately after your study, you can apply for Tier 2 visa which will allow you to stay back in the UK for 24 months after your studies.
This will give you more opportunities to look for jobs in the UK.

This is a new rule for 2018/2019. Before now, you can go anywhere in the world for your programme with PTDF scholarship but most people prefer UK because admission process is easy and PTDF will assist you with the visa process. If you choose other countries, you are solely on your own regarding the visa process. I am a PTDF scholar going to University of Manitoba for Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. I now see reason why most people avoid going to Canada, I applied for TRV since Nov 21st, 2017 and up till now there has been no update on my application.
I have deferred my resumption from January to May; I have started having a second thought about Canny land, now that the UK has changed their immigration law.

You dont need to have a second thought. Your visa will definitely be approved any moment from now as you applied since Nov. PhD applicants dont have too much wahala.

For the new immigration law in the UK, if you still want to go there, it's not late. To get a UK offer can take between 2-4 weeks if you've funding. And you dont pay any processing fee.

Good day. I have travelled to the uk twice with my real date 1997. But I had to get birth affidavit from court which carries 1996 because I wanted to use it for university then cos I wasn’t of age. So I just got a new birth certificate. Now I am done and want to travel to Canada for masters which I have gotten admission in a school already and I made it known there was a mistake on my passport because they require passport and birth certificate before giving admission but I got it.
All my documents carry 1996 except my passport which is 1997. Please what do you think I can do because I am supposed to start my student permit processing in the next week. I would be looking forward to your replies.. thank you

Thank you for stating this - "Paying upfront tuition fees is not a prerequisite for visa approval."

A lot of people have the misconception that paying tuition will comply the VO to issue a visa.

I personally don't advise anyone to pay upfront but they should state in the SOP that you'll pay the tuition when instructed to do so and of course ensure that their POF reflects that they can afford it.

Emmaokudu,

If you don't plan to pay tuition, make sure you have your tuition and living expenses in your possession(Account) prior your application submission.

Paying upfront tuition fees is not a prerequisite for visa approval. I'll advise that if you have the money, just pay for your full tuition and have your living expenses in your personal account before submitting your app. Don't be scared okay, your money is safe with the Canadian Institution and will be refunded, if eventually your application got refused.
Yes paying upfront tuition is good as it let's the visa officer know that your primary intent is to study.

Lastly, Are you self sponsored?( You speak like one).

He can pay the fee, just want to be sure of my visa before fee payment is been made. But we don’t mind paying incidental fee. One more question the amount of money if accepted can it pass for the visa because I intend showing my pay slip.
Please I am really trying to get all information right before I start my application
Which one is incidental fee? Well try and include the receipt of whatever payment you make when submitting your application. Just like I said, paying of tuition fee doesn't guarantee you visa. Best of luck

Hello everyone.

Its been quite a while.

I will be reapplying for my study permit soon after two refusal last year having faith that this will be an approval. I will like to ask for clarifications on some things.

(1) Is online route and paper route same amount?
(2) I got an admission to MUN for a year masters program. The department only offer 1 year masters program. Is this a problem because I read previous post against 1 year program.
(3) I will like if anyone in Canada can help me with the ordering of my gcms notes.

Thanks. May God bless our aspirations.

It depends. Paper route is cheaper(#55,520.00) while online route is roughly 70k thereabout.
P.S: I'm 100% sure of the paper route, not too sure about the online application

At times ehh, you guys like to complicate issues. What is the difference between 1997 & 1996? You should have maintained the age all your docs are. 1 year is nothing IMO!

I applied for study permit together with my two cousins and my parents acting as a co sponsor to them then we submitted the application together now

if there is a mistake found in any of my cousins application can we all be refused ( both me)

GOOD afternoon bosses, please have sent so many mails out to professors all without any response and others saying they aren't taking any students at this point in time. I.applied for university of Saskatchewan pre-qualification and they informed me after like a month that my application is still under consideration. Would love to know what that means for people that applied for their pre-qualification form. Also want to know the implication of applying for an M.ENG program when applying for the visa. Thanks and God bless

If it's PhD you submitted pre-qualification form for, it takes 10 weeks for a decision to be made. The email you received after 1 month of submission was just a generic email to tell you that you've not been forgotten.

Emmaokudu,

Good to hear from you again.

Your dad sponsoring you it's the best here, because visa officers regard Family sponsorship when compared to third party sponsor. So it's good you're using your dad.

It's not a prerequisite okay, it's a way of showing commitment towards sponsoring your education, and it plays a vital role on your application. So, Once the transfer is carried out between your father's account and yours, you need to submit both accounts statements while applying for your visa. You should indicate this in the portion where you talked about finances on your SOP, explain to the visa officer that as a matter of fact, that your father(sponspor) have shown commitment in financing your studies by transferring both your tuition and living expenses into your account, so the same too with your father, it should also appear on his letter of support/sponsporship. Remember to quote the date and attach receipts for the transcation.

The main important thing here is before your application, and yes you can take it out or give it back to your sponsor as embassies don't have the right to request for your account balance from applicant respective banks. Most often, they request for bank statements again only if they are unsure of the transaction(I don't think they do this again). But it's better you wait for like a month after submission before giving it back to your father.

It not a must that it will be a domicilary account. The role that a dorm account plays is that it let's the visa officer know that funds are already in convertible currency and are readily available, accessible and exportable by applicant to Canada. But I prefer this than normal naira bank account. Anyone is good okay. As I said earlier if you're using your naira account, make sure you include your dad bank statements and yours to show proof of transcations b/w both accounts.

Yes submit your sponsor Bank statement to support your application, then they will be looking out whether such transfer/transcations was carried in your sponsor account or you just intentionally borrowed the money somewhere(Lump sum deposit into account from unknown source) So, include your sponsor account.

Sure! You can have more than one sponspor when applying for your visa, just make sure that both sponspors show commitment (as stated earlier) towards financing your studies in Canada and you will be fine.

I hope this answers your questions.
Feel free to ask questions anytime.

All the best!

In this case, what if the transaction also appears like a lump sum in the sponsors account. For instance, my husband sold a land to sponsor me with the proceeds. He usually does not have this huge funds entering into his account.

Attach receipts of the sold land and give explanations to it on your SOP and likewise your sponsor do the same on his letter of sponsorship and you will be fine.

You have submitted your application let it be okay. If I should say YES , that it will be refused what can you do? Can you change it? Please put ON an optimistic mindset and let the will of God be done. I don't say anything most especially when an applicant have submitted his/her app, because anything you say will make that applicant mind not to be at rest.

So chill, relax and wait for a positive outcome.

Idowu3080,
Sorry for the outcome of your previous application, it's nice to see that you're back again to reapply and I believe this time around, it will end in praises.

1-) Paper route cost = 56K but go with 60K, should incase there is any error to correct or documents to photocopy at the VFS office.
Online Route = 68K-70K (It's more expensive)

2-) 1 year program is not as bad as you think, just that visa officers always refuse such application. They always think that such applicant is using study permit as a means to facilitate entry into Canada and they tag them as not a genuine student that will return back after their stay in Canada. I never said its impossible okay, but the duration of your course matters alot on your application. When reapplying put up a rational explanation to why you opted out for this course of study in Canada, list the employment benefits here in Nigeria, Your future goals in Nigeria, let them know the chances of securing a job with such certificate is very high in Nigeria.... But if possible get a 2 year program. if not be ready to draft a convincing SOP and everything will be okay.

What could this be that you can't ask me here on the forum?. Please go ahead and ask your questions here as it will be of paramount benefit to intending/future applicants and people of the same case scenario with you can learn from it. Hello prospective Canadian Students,

As a follower of this thread, I have gained seriously from information been shared here by co-lovers of Canada.

Kudos to every who have been asking and answering questions here. Indeed, You are doing since great community service work at zero cost.

It is imperative to let everyone asking questions here know that answers are provided to them based on individual or personal experiential opinion which may apparently be helpful for approval or even cause confusion that can results to painful delay. This is because those answering questions are not Canadian Immigration consultants. Infact a lot of people who haven't applied are scared of been refused before applying already.
Majority of our Senior friend who are presently in Canada don't really have time to contribute due to their tight schedules. Greater proportion of those available to answer questions are even still battling with their application, infact , Some haven't submitted their application. So why kill yourself with someone's reply to your question.

We have seen a lot of miracles on this thread, some people have applied with only funding letter and got approval, someone with full funding and only 56,000naira in his account got it. Somebody recently got approval within a day. Many PGD and 1Masters applicant have shared approval testimonies. Sincerely, individual cases are different. Some didn't even submit police clearance, landed property or even LOE and they got approved. When God says YES, who can say NO.

My candid advice,
If u haven't gotten admission offer yet, focus on that first and read on this thread before disturbing yourself with anxiety of either TRV success or refusal.
Follow your mind to select the best route for your application and don't let anyone scare you with refusal.
Never base your application only on the info you get here, Do extra work by reading all necessary information on CIC website. You can as well contact the Canadian immigration consultant in your proposed University as I know University of Alberta has. An online webinar was organized by University of Alberta recently to share tip on study permit application to prospective students, some of what we learnt there have never been shared here because the presentations where done by registered Immigration consultants. They covet more questions from us as soon as we have one.
Gather your documents well and have faith in God..
Let your SOP/LOE be original. Don't edit someone else own, plagiarism is a serious offence.. Explain things that are special to you. Keep it simple and straight forward. Address all the questions expected to be answered in it. Never rush in writing it.

Frankly, I tailored this post to build the hope of someone. If you have done your assignment well. Only visa Officer can determine the outcome of your applications. Just use information gotten here as extra guide and not a major procedural manual.

May all those who have submitted and those yet to submit to CIC either by online or paper route get approval. Medical and passport request mail will roll in..

Kind Regards
