Firstly, why will he not end up like Chrisantus, what is the difference between them.

In comparison there was more expectation on Chrisantus after his accolades at the U17 World cup.

Chrisantus played in the Bundesliga 1& 2 and struggled to get a real consistent run of games.

Furthermore Chrisantus is still playing football at a decent level even if we have forgotten him. He is still just only 27 years old.

What is this one saying? Maybe chrisantus is your brother for you to side him by saying he is playing football at a decent level....please educate me of your own meaning of playing football on a decent level.

Forgotten about chrisantus? I don't think players playing at a decent level should be forgotten.

Is it the chrisantus that did not play for the first team of Hamburg?he only played for Hamburg reserve, osimhen is making the first team of Wolfsburg at his age says a lot

My proposed line up for the world cup in a 4-3-3 formation
GK:Francis Uzoho
LCB: leon balogun
RCB: troost ekong
LB: brian idowu
RB: tyronne ebuehi
RCM: Wilfred ndidi
LCM: joel obi
CAM: john mikel obi
LW: Victor moses
RW: Alex iwobi
ST: ihenancho/Ighalo

Note my preference for two CMs Ndidi could sit deep sometimes while joel lays the passes and control play while mikel will be able to go forward. Mikel and joel can also inter switch
No DM? Rohr will never assemble his team without a DM

There is news that Joel Obi is likely to be recalled to the SE.

One thing about this guy though: inspite of his injury concerns he always walks straight into the starting eleven of Torino.

I don't think Ndidi and Onazi gell well. They've played together but there's something cranky, something not so seamless about their combination. I think we would have the hard choice of using one of them while the other sits on the bench. Ndidi has never really played well with Onazi. Always plays brilliantly when paired with another player (Ogu)

Ultimately it depends on the opponents we face on a particular match day.

i think this is because while ndidi and onazi are the roving types, ogu just sits deep allowing ndidi to do the roving

A senior area bros(Dele Abubakar)was part of 85 Eaglets team, still in final year secondary school then, this was a period of academicals moving to eaglets.

Pictures would not be a good yardstick to use in judging. If anything the 85 set looks 'older'. But this is because a 17 year old in 1985 had more muscular build than a 17 year old of today. A better or safer way to judge by duration of the players in a set in the game notwithstanding the fact that not all of them go ahead to have professional football careers. Look at the 93 set. Kanu, Oruma, Celestine played top flight professional football for long which underlies the fact that they were very young as at 93. Even at Atlanta 96, they looked young.

I would like Rohr to try them both once again to attain a conclusive result.

Its really surprising seeing both players that boast of enormous tackling abilities, work rate, energy and stamina struggle to produce a compact partnership in the Midfield.

OBI SET FOR EAGLES RETURN, STARS FOR TORINO Vs JUVE; ROHR CONSIDERS CHAN STARS
February 18, 2018 3:28 pm

By Johnny Edward: Torino midfielder, Joel Obi, is set to return to the Super Eagles squad ahead of next month’s international friendlies against Poland and Serbia, four years after he last featured for Nigeria, Completesportsnigeria.com has reliably gathered.

Obi was on from the start for Torino against Turin rivals and champions Juventus in a Serie A clash on Sunday as he continued his impressive form in Italy this season. Juventus won 1-0.
The former Inter Milan star last featured for the Super Eagles in their 2-2 draw against Scotland in a 2014 friendly game in London.

Gernot Rohr’s men will take on Poland and Serbia on March 23 and March 27 respectively.

Obi has been in a rich vein of form in the Italian Serie A, scoring four goals in 17 league games (five goals in 19 games in all competitions).

“He (Joel Obi) brings a different dimension to the team. We saw the Super Eagles play a different system against Argentina and that’s part of the dynamism Rohr is hoping his side can evolve into before the World Cup,” a top source in the Nigerian Football Federation revealed to CSN.

Obi has made 12 international appearances for the Super Eagles since his debut in 2011.

Completesportsnigeria.com also gathered from the source that Rohr will make a late decision on whether to include any of the outfield Home Eagles players in his squad for the games.

“I don’t know as of now mabye later he (Rohr) will decide that,” the source added.

The Super Eagles are drawn in Group D alongside Iceland, Croatia and Argentina for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Over the five friendlies and the camping period Rohr should see what works.

Onazi impedes Ndidi or rather perhaps when Onazi plays Ndidi has to play in a position that limits him.

In that friendly against Argentina I really appreciated the guy's game. We must look for a way to maximise this tackling machine we've got.

Have you ever wondered probably one just need to take that defensive positional responsibility instead of roaming...looking at Ogu's last 2 games, he seems to have a better passing range than Onazi, i think that's what make the team look like it has better chemistry and balance with the ogu-Ndidi combination...

There might be games the Onazi-Ndidi might work better depending on the opposition...well we are glad to at least have this kind of headache unlike the last world cup where after the first 11, no real quality sub!!

that's the painful truth.

For the sake of balance of play, I don't see their combo working. I see one been drop to the bench(this is hard for me to admit).

Both players are great tacklers and fighters. They are predominantly right footed and tends to drift to the same side of the pitch therefore leaving gaps for opponents to exploit.

But for this to happen, we will need to have a more better and quality DMF/CM who is good on both feet.

Ogu is good and thumps Onazi when it comes to passing but he isn't mobile enough(I don't think he can cover large area in small time lapse like Onazi).

Make I siddon de look as time unfold things...

Sometimes age doesn't determine the longevity of a player but the opportunity and development.

Kanu had a great opportunity than the others and this was made possible by Westerhoff who really fell in love with Kanu's game right from Mauritius 93 U 21 team that had the likes of Andrew Aikhomogbe,Taribo West,Emma Teberen, and Austin Okocha

If it's today a lot would questioned Kanu inclusion in U 17 team after participated in U 21 team, remember Kanu and Emma Babayaro were moved to U 17 team to save the team after very bad result. The two belonged to failed U 21 Mauritius team.

Honestly i don't want to go to Kanu's age cos i watched the same Kanu playing for Iwuanyanwu Nationale against Ranchers bees in FA cup match in 1991/92 but Kanu's talent not age gave him longevity in the game.

Talents also pushed Wilson Oruma not age but i can tell you Celestine Babayaro was more younger than the rest of 93 squad.

Yea that is true, too be honest, I don't want the coach to set up a formation that would limit Ndidi..the guys work rate could unbalance any opposition..popping up in every areas that need personnel..

In fact against some opposition that might even just sit deep and not really attack through the centre, I would suggest a double pivot of Mikel and Ndidi...mikel sits deep and dictates the pace of the game, Ndidi roams as usual and Iwobi or Iheanacho does his thing has an amf or ss...but I don't think Odogwu would wanna play dmf..he has been enjoying that amf so much, its hard to take it from him..
