A woman who was arrested for brutalizing three female siblings, aged 13, 5 and 3 years who are orphans after accusing them of Giving her HIV has been released,

According to Vanguard the incident happened at a community in Cross River State, the eldest sister while speaking in tears said:

“We are not witches, our grandmother made us to confess what we are not. We dropped out of school in 2016 when our mother died; we also lost our father in 2014. .

We do not belong to any witchcraft world. We are normal children; she made us to sell sachet water before we can eat once a day. .

Barr. James Ibor, the Principal Counsel to Child Protection Network and Basic Rights Counsel Initiative, BRCI, the NGO that took up the matter, said they got the grandmother arrested but was later granted bail because she was HIV-positive and was like a walking corpse. .



“The old woman in question has a terminal illness, for which she has refused to continue taking drugs as prescribed and recommended, but she decided to blame her condition on the children.

Regarding the story

1.Most people who catch HIV are initially in denial. You tell someone he or she is positive...and the first thing is 'It is a lie'

2.I have personally seen a HIV positive woman brutalize a teenage relative who was looking after her in the hospital. (The HIV positive woman was severely ill, and eventually died...which is why I hesitate to criticize her). She was severely depressed...and took it out on the child.

3.Catching HIV is not easy. There are many HIV positive patients who live positively, take their drugs, and don't brutalise anyone. And there are many HIV positive who are so angry with the world...

4.Am not surprised the granny is depressed. She probably got the HIV from her husband...or even a tainted transfusion...so she is probably angry and bitter...and takes it out on the kids.
