Sir Tbaba1234...... pls try to be objective on this Keepers Issue. How many Ondoas are in the Team of our Opponents in the Group Stage?!

With the same Ondoa, Super Eagles made it to the World Cup while Cameroonians would be watching in their Homes. We are talking of World Cup, not a Continental Tournament.

Do you really expect Maduka to make the Cut at the Expense of the experienced ones?! Let's be frank here..... we do not need Maduka in the Team. Have we seen him played?!

I'm actually expecting you to be rooting for the Recall of an experienced Keeper in Dele not a Rookie in Maduka. Dudes were mentioning Alampasu, Uzoho, Akpeyi, now Maduka....... and we think we can conquer the World with these Keepers?!

World Cup ain't a Platform to sell Players to better Clubs, it's meant the proven Talents not upcoming Talents.

Omo I bow for Rohr o!.... See coach wey sabi him work. Talking exclusively about the problem of the team and saying exactly how they have been tackling each problem.

Now I see why the white skin is far ahead the average black. How many of our local coaches would have thought of giving Uzoho a personal coach?...

How many would have been involved in several loan and transfer moves to get most of our players playing time?

Nice choice of coach by picnnick!
How will a local coach appoint a personal coach to a player when his salaries are not paid ?

I am being objective.

Not many of us would have considered Uzoho for the world cup until he gave a confident display against Argentina especially as he has played mainly in the third division of Spain.

If Maduka produces a few confident displays, i have no qualms about taking him to the World cup.

Unlike outfield positions, a good goalkeeper playing in a lower league can produce at a higher level if he does not get overcome by the occasion.

This is why we are comfortable with NPFL keepers in the national team but not really comfortable with NPFL strikers or midfielders.

Before Szczesny became Arsenal number 1, his only experience was a loan deal to league 1 and he performed better than the other experienced keepers at the club.

A good keeper is a good keeper is a good keeper. If he can show that he has the confidence and ability, then he will be fine.

I support a call for Aiyenugba as well.

If the kid proves his worth, i will support him.

Shocker: Ex- Leicester Star Says Club Aren’t Using Wilfred Ndidi Rightly

Posted By: soccerasson: February 21, 2018In: Eagles WatchNo Comments

 Print

Ex Leicester city star and pro license coach Gerry Taggart has hailed Leicester’s Nigerian Midfielder Wilfred Ndidi as an excellent player but not being played in his best role currently by the club

Gerry Taggart an ex Leicester, Man City and Bolton star was speaking on Leicester TVs Weekend review in which the panel were analyzing Leicester Citys game against Fleetwood town

“I thought he (Ndidi) was excellent”

“What he does now he complements the midfield player alongside him whether its Silva or Iborra he will complement him”

“And he keeps his game very simple and his recovery runs are fantastic, they really are”

“He is a player who is improving, understanding his role in the team and improving all the time”

“It’s how he reacts to situations and its fantastic and in that clip ( match against fleetwood ) he runs 30 40 yards back, a player goes into the challenge , misses the challenge and he is on hand to clean that up”

“He is a real box to box midfielder”

“What Wilfred will give you he will play of the other players he will be there in a supporting role and tell the other players if you need me I’m here to give you the support you need”

“And he will keep it simple”

“What he is doing now is he playing further up the pitch than he was doing earlier on in the season”

“He may have been asked to get on the ball in a deeper position”

“That is not his game. His game is to support the forward player and be an option if you need him”

“On his shots he has got that in his locker. We haven’t seen it in a while but he shot one and hit the target and the keeper had to pull off a decent save”

“He is an excellent box to box player , recovery runs and a support player for when the team are going forward”

Going by recent analysis on this forum, I can deduce that the goalkeeping department may likely look like this (cetris paribus):
1.Dele Ayenugba
2. Francis Uzoho
3. Ike Ezenwa

Camping and friendlies to determine the pecking order.
I also give my vote for this trio. I just hope we will be better off with this choice all things being equal.

Is it not the same Dele Ayenugba we almost crucified some years back after some woeful performance made us lose out on the Nations Cup (I think)?

What has now made him special overnight? My dear agents and selfish family, UZOHO is the real deal! We should trust him with the duty and groom him now that he needs the experience to become even greater than Enyeama... Yes! Dude got what it takes to be great!

UZOHO it is.
End of story!

I understand your Points Boss, but we shouldn't overlook experience for a raw Talent. We've only seen Uzoho for 45mins in the Eagles Shirt, though he was excellent but I'm still not convinced yet.

We will be facing established Players plying their Trades in the Elite Teams in Europe, hence we need to parade not just our best Legs, also experienced PLAYERS.

We can keep watching on Maduka and Uzoho coz they are for the Future not for quick Fix. And for those who can't argue logically but tagging anyone that mentions or suggests Call up for certain Players as Agents...... Ride on!

Scenario : Nigeria is in the quarter finals in Russia, Uzoho is injured. Ezenwa to man the post in the quarter finals. Nigeria is one nil up. In the 89th minute, Ezenwa has a rush of blood to the head and brings down an opposing attacker under no pressure at all. Ezenwa is shown a straight red card. An attacker is pulled out, in comes Akpeyi.

By some miracle he saves the penalty and Nigeria is through to the semi finals. What does Akpeyi now become to us?

i love this illustration people are to quick to point fingers at our goalkeepers on this thread if akpeyi does that they'll rate him higher than every other goal keeper we have. They'll be like which Nigerian goal keeper has saved a penalty at the world cup

Thank you for this Lovely post my brother.

With the ruling out of Enyeama, I throw my weight behind another look-in at Ayenugba and also Rohr should reconsider Dele Ajiboye. For now I am even more comfortable with Ajiboye than Uzoho.

I am not comfortable with those rookie goalkeepers.

At that point he becomes the best keeper Nigeria has ever produced then they'd start making reference to him as legendary Akpeyi grin

Exactly..... how can we be comfortable with a Rookie manning our Posts, with another Rookie and inexperienced Keeper on the Bench at the World Cup?!

Are we going to the World Cup for a Trial, perhaps to boost the Experience of the Rookies?!

Dele Aiyenugba ought to be re-considered as the Team No. 1, with Ezenwa and Ajiboye on the Bench.

Efe has been to WC?yes, meaning what, criteria for invitation.I disagreed.

Efe still playing at a highly professional level? No.I only remember him at Celtic.

Efe plays week in week out?Yes but where Scottish league with Hibernia.

Efe prove doubters wrong since he moved to Hilbernia?how cos i don't see Hilbernia as a club to rate any player.

The present fullbacks don't have clear cut over Efe?how cos to me they are young and better, doing it in better leagues and their versatility in both flanks say it all.

Efe is good but for now we have better fullbacks and it would be stupid of a good coach to call Efe back with the presence of emerging talents like Ebuhei, Idowu, Aina and Shehu, pls to come and do what?

The world cup is the highest level of football, it would be naïve to not at least check out someone with that experience. He has been performing at a high level without making much fuss. He helped his club gain promotion and now they are even in a fight for second position in the top flight. He is a CB and was playing RB only because of lack of option and the fact that he was not bad at all. Lets not forget that he brings goals, the last defender to score for Nigeria if im not mistaken. The only reason Efe stopped getting called was because he was inactive at Celtic. He has been a good servant of the SE and I think he should at least be given a chance to prove himself.

Dele Aiyenugba still got it. I remember when I first watched him play, it was for Eyimba against Austin Ejide's Esperance or so in the CAF finals.. He had been brought on to replace Vincent Enyeama whom the coach knew was not good at penalty saves. Dele came in and did his thing saving 2 penalties that day, and Eyimba won the champions league...

He had been a third choice goal keeper after Enyeama and Ejide all along but I think his sojourn in the Israeli league made one forget him, as this made a spot for other local league goalies to be third choice, the likes of akpeyi, agbim and theophelius afelohki coming in.

having spent so much playing with Enyeama, I want to believe he is capable of offering something. though for him, unlike Enyeama, I fear his age factor might influence his efficiency. I hope his reflexes are still sharp because I didn't see any reflex save as such, this is something the young goalies would have in their kitty.

finally, what is the connection between these set of keepers plying their trade in Israel, I mean Enyeama to Ejide and Dele. Not until Enyeama left for France and at some point rumors of Wenger interest in him.

Nigeria, Zimbabwe hold talks over potential pre-World Cup friendly
By Christian Okpara with agency reports

Super Eagles celebrate victory against Argentina. AFP PHOTO / Mladen ANTONOV

If negotiations sailed through, Nigeria would meet Zimbabwe in a pre-Russia 2018 World Cup, officials of the Zimbabwean FA have disclosed.Nigeria has lined up some friendly matches to prepare the Super Eagles for the World Cup, while the NFF is still negotiating with some African countries for more of the games before the team flies to Russia.
The Super Eagles will meet Poland in a friendly next month in Europe. Now, Zimbabwe wants the Super Eagles to add it to the itinerary. The Zimbabwean Warriors want to face a tough opposition in their team rebuilding process and they believe Nigeria fits the bill perfectly.

Zimbabwe Football Association President, Mr. Philip Chiyangwa, while discussing the state of the country’s football yesterday said they were looking at making Zimbabwe a football powerhouse in the Southern African region. He said the association’s plans for the long-term future is to feature in the upcoming regional tournament, the 2019 Africa Cup and Nations and the 2022 World Cup.

Mr. Chiyangwa said they will be inviting a technical director for the national team from Europe but did not disclose the name or the country where the technical director will be coming from. In addition to that, he said the country is going to start playing international friendlies with football powerhouses on the continent.

Chiyangwa said the negotiation with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the match is already at an advanced stage, adding that they are also talking with Cameroun. Zimbabwe, unlike Nigeria has had torrid times on and off the pitch. Off the pitch, the Zimbabwe Football Association is riding in a sea of debt, with estimates claiming the debt may well be over US $5 million. ZIFA’s creditors internationally have made the nation pay by approaching FIFA and having Zimbabwe thrown out of World Cup qualification campaign for the 2018 World Cup. Domestically, creditors have approached the Courts in bids to recover their money, factors which have led ZIFA property being attached. Recently, ZIFA had to operate at the house of its President after allegations it had failed to pay rentals at the ZIFA Village to the city council.

Look no further if we truly need a good keeper, not like Uzoho and Ezenwa can't understudy him. This guy is good, not that tall but not shorter than Ezenwa.

To me, I will go with Aiyenugba, Ezenwa and Uzoho to the world cup
He's also a very good PK stopper.

During his days in Enyimba, he was always used to replace Enyeama when it's time for PK and he never disappoints.
