How many have been paid consistently for 1 year alone?

Secondly, we haven't had issues with goal keeping position during Nigerian coaching era.
MetalJigsaw:
Even if they are paid... Have you ever heard that before?

PurpleHouse:
Is it not the same Dele Ayenugba we almost crucified some years back after some woeful performance made us lose out on the Nations Cup (I think)?

What has now made him special overnight? My dear agents and selfish family, UZOHO is the real deal! We should trust him with the duty and groom him now that he needs the experience to become even greater than Enyeama... Yes! Dude got what it takes to be great!

UZOHO it is.
End of story!

Has he been invited?

But first we need to see Aiyenugba in those friendlies. I just pray he comes out good.

I understand your Points Boss, but we shouldn't overlook experience for a raw Talent. We've only seen Uzoho for 45mins in the Eagles Shirt, though he was excellent but I'm still not convinced yet.

We will be facing established Players plying their Trades in the Elite Teams in Europe, hence we need to parade not just our best Legs, also experienced PLAYERS.

We can keep watching on Maduka and Uzoho coz they are for the Future not for quick Fix. And for those who can't argue logically but tagging anyone that mentions or suggests Call up for certain Players as Agents...... Ride on!

Experience builds confidence but some of the best keepers in the world today got their opportunity when they were young.

If the keepers prove to be good quality and are naturally confident then you want to help them build that confidence.

Akpeyi is an experienced keeper but he is terribly shaky. I can not in good conscience recommend him if we have a younger quality keeper with more confidence.

If Aiyenuba is still in good shape, he could also be tested in friendlies as well.

2011 in Abuja against Guinea for the 2012 AFCON Qualifiers. Game ended 2 : 2 after Dele fumbled our 2 goals lead to conceed 2 cheap n foolish goals. That was the last time he got a call up, because he was so poor that even the NFF blacklisted him. So what has now made him specail again? Because we need keeper? Can't find the video, help us with one if you have it.

You made it sound like it was Aiyenugba that made us lose, yet these articles didn't even mention any incident of him. A bad display from a GK won't go unnoticed or undocumented.

Help us with the clip or article detailing Such.

You accused him of being the one who made us draw that game yet can't prove it. Why state what you can't prove?

It's like someone saying it was Ajiboye that made us not win CHAN final against morroco because we conceded 4 goals.

This thread is for objective comments filled with facts, evidence and proofs and those without any of these are challenged sir so I no go leave you alone.

Cats in the viewing centre were applauding Ejide and we wondering why he was kept on the bench for Aiyenugba in the previous game... I don't rate that guy.

Your assertion is false and misleading.

The two goals were not Dele's fault. It was Samson Siasia that told the players to move up pitch which eventually led to counter attacks from the Guinea players.. The scores should have even be more than that if not for Dele's saves.

Nigeria coach Rohr to stick with core squad for World Cup

Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has ruled out bringing in new players to bolster his squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The West Africans have been hit by a goalkeeping crisis; first choice Carl Ikeme was diagnosed with leukaemia, both Daniel Akpeyi and his replacement Ikechukwu Ezenwa have failed to impress while Francis Uzoho is inexperienced.

Rohr is not tempted to call up another goalkeeper, despite growing calls from a section of fans for him to recall the country's most capped player Vincent Enyeama from retirement.

"We have built a good environment for the team and I believe all the players gave everything to secure the ticket to Russia," Rohr told BBC Sport.

"It looks very impossible to get Carl Ikeme to play in Russia, but Ikechukwu Ezenwa showed in big matches so far that he can be in goal.

"The young boy Uzoho had a great game against Argentina so I've sent the goalkeeper trainer to continue to provide support for this boy in Spain.

"We are not limited as we also have other goalkeepers like Akpeyi, Ajiboye and Alampasu in the team, so I believe we are fine."

At the last tournament, Nigeria drafted in experienced Peter Odemwingie and Shola Ameobi, with the former scoring the only goal against debutants Bosnia-Herzegovina to give Nigeria their solitary victory in Brazil.

Many have cited a lack of experience in the current squad, but Rohr is confident he has the personnel to get the job done and will stick with his current group in Russia.

"You have to respect what the former players have done in the past but be careful that you don't try to bring them back because people think so," said Rohr.

"We have big experience in captain [John] Mikel Obi, Victor Moses and our left back Elderson who is now playing in Belgium.

"If we feel the need to strengthen this squad we know what to do because for nearly two years now we've had a good atmosphere so far. Another good news is that the young striker in Wolfsburg [Victor] Osimhen is also playing now.

"I will make the [provisional] squad based on this group and also give one of the CHAN boys a chance as well.

"We can't just keep bringing in player after player when you already have those who have proven that they can do the job," Rohr added.

The Super Eagles will be making a sixth appearance at the World Cup tournament in Russia wehere they will play Argentina, Iceland and Croatia in Group D.

The three-time African champions reached the round of 16 in 1994, 1998 and 2014 but exit the 2002 and 2010 tournaments in the group stages.

Bros, I didn't mean to insult you but your logic was so wack that I couldn't help myself sad
Please go back and reread what you posted and tell me whether it makes sense to you.

So you think that Vincent Enyeama purposely decided to find a club and literally take a year off from active football because he wants to avoid being considered for the World Cup? Are you freaking kidding me?? This akin to saying that Enyeama decided to retire from football because he doesn't want to rep Nigerian any more!

Listen, football is Enyeama's career. He didn't purposely decide not to find another team because he wants to avoid the SE. Nobody has ever forced him to play for the national team and nobody ever will. So even if he was playing for Real Madrid, he could refuse an invite and nobody would kill him. Please, sometimes before we hit "submit" think twice about what you just typed ... and remember that you're posting it on the world wide web.

Mehn,u just brought back memories of that unfortunate game.... I had already forgotten that Dele was the goalie then....

But still, that's past.. let's call him up again and give him a trial...if he proves himself good,he should b on d plane to Russia.... Apart from Akpeyi and Ezenwa who are very unreliable,Dele is probably the only active Nigerian goalkeeper with some experience now... Uzoho and Maduka might b good but they are still young and inexperienced and not playing first team football for their clubs...

Don't mind them! The good news is, Rohr is in charge and he knows what he's doing. First, it was Obafemi Martins, then Efe Ambrose. And now it's all about Dele. Who would be next? Probably Taiye Taiwo, I presume.

Don't worry, they can always invite those folks to their own fantasy world cup team grin

The team chemistry is very important but the form (physical and mental strength) of individual player peri-world cup time is more important from my own perspective.

I think it is too early to make such call..

Exactly! Team chemistry is much more important than individual talent. And also, a good locker room is critical to the success of any team. One thing that sets this team apart is the unity and great team spirit amongst them. And it's very important we maintain that unity in Russia.

Personally, I wouldn't mind having Joel Obi in the team but I it wouldn't bother me if he misses out either. He's a good player but not a massive upgrade to the talents we already have in the team.
