Beats me, bro! And why didn't his name come up throughout the qualifiers? After Carl Ikeme's sickness, why didn't anybody mention Dele?
Now that we've qualified, names started coming out of the woodwork.

Famocious:
Nigeria coach Rohr to stick with core squad for World Cup

Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has ruled out bringing in new players to bolster his squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The West Africans have been hit by a goalkeeping crisis; first choice Carl Ikeme was diagnosed with leukaemia, both Daniel Akpeyi and his replacement Ikechukwu Ezenwa have failed to impress while Francis Uzoho is inexperienced.

Rohr is not tempted to call up another goalkeeper, despite growing calls from a section of fans for him to recall the country's most capped player Vincent Enyeama from retirement.

"We have built a good environment for the team and I believe all the players gave everything to secure the ticket to Russia," Rohr told BBC Sport.

"It looks very impossible to get Carl Ikeme to play in Russia, but Ikechukwu Ezenwa showed in big matches so far that he can be in goal.

"The young boy Uzoho had a great game against Argentina so I've sent the goalkeeper trainer to continue to provide support for this boy in Spain.

"We are not limited as we also have other goalkeepers like Akpeyi, Ajiboye and Alampasu in the team, so I believe we are fine."

At the last tournament, Nigeria drafted in experienced Peter Odemwingie and Shola Ameobi, with the former scoring the only goal against debutants Bosnia-Herzegovina to give Nigeria their solitary victory in Brazil.

Many have cited a lack of experience in the current squad, but Rohr is confident he has the personnel to get the job done and will stick with his current group in Russia.

"You have to respect what the former players have done in the past but be careful that you don't try to bring them back because people think so," said Rohr.

"We have big experience in captain [John] Mikel Obi, Victor Moses and our left back Elderson who is now playing in Belgium.

"If we feel the need to strengthen this squad we know what to do because for nearly two years now we've had a good atmosphere so far. Another good news is that the young striker in Wolfsburg [Victor] Osimhen is also playing now.

"I will make the [provisional] squad based on this group and also give one of the CHAN boys a chance as well.

"We can't just keep bringing in player after player when you already have those who have proven that they can do the job," Rohr added.

The Super Eagles will be making a sixth appearance at the World Cup tournament in Russia wehere they will play Argentina, Iceland and Croatia in Group D.

The three-time African champions reached the round of 16 in 1994, 1998 and 2014 but exit the 2002 and 2010 tournaments in the group stages.

Exactly! Team chemistry is much more important than individual talent. And also, a good locker room is critical to the success of any team. One thing that sets this team apart is the unity and great team spirit amongst them. And it's very important we maintain that unity in Russia.

Chemistry, talent and form are separate entities but complimentary...

Personally, I wouldn't mind having Joel Obi in the team but I it wouldn't bother me if he misses out either. He's a good player but not a massive upgrade to the talents we already have in the team.

I doubt Joel Obi will make the final 23 list unless he puts up a strong showing in the friendlies and stay fit!..

I've been trying to think of the final 23 man list and I honestly don't see where Joel will b... Its very likely that Rohr will stick to about 80% of the players he has been calling up ever since he took charge...
Now look at this case scenario:
If Rohr decides to take 8 defenders(like some people want him to), there will b room for 7 forwards and just 5 midfielders.. Mikel,Onazi and Ndidi are 90% likely to make the list that leaves Joel to fight with Ogu,Agu and Etebo for a place..
If Rohr now decides to take 7 defenders,Joel will still have to fight will Ogu,Agu and Etebo... Those three players have been called up to d team for so long now...why Rohr drip one of them for Joel?? Well...we shall see

How about giving Austin Eguavon a look in as well?...

No!.. Maybe Chidi Odiah will be better

SMH

Don't you guys get it?... If you must suggest a player, he must meet up two major criteria.

Age, and ability.

Can Efe currently displace Shehu Or Ebuehi?

Age wise can Efe play 2022 world cup?... Because aside this world cup we need continuity, the ability and Ages of Shehu and Ebuehi can give us that, but can we say the same for Efe?

Efe's time is past, and in ability he is just there, pretty much average. Funny thing is with all the experience he has so far, he is terribly prone to error.

At this stage, we have far gone past the idea of introducing new players. The fewer pool we have worked with is enough.

See how long it took us to see Ebuehi play, now we need to see more of him. We can't play 45 minutes with Ebuehi and conclude on him, then we play Efe another 45 Minutes and conclude on him too, then we play Obafemi Martin's another 45 minutes and so on for all these other players you all are suggesting.

Rather we need to see more of our current pool and fringe players in order to actually determine whether or not some formations or strategies can work.

There is NO TIME for all these "testing, testing microphone" we are doing upandan

Don't you all get it?

Some Dudes on this Thread won't stop displaying their Emptiness and crass Analyzes. So we are wrong to suggest Dele Aiyenugba coz he wasn't part of the Team that qualified us?! Was Maduka, Uzoho parts of the Team?!

Perhaps we should stick with Ezenwa, Akpeyi, and Alampasu or the injured Ikeme, coz they were part and parcel of the Team that qualified for us for the World Cup.

No one is forcing anyone on Rohr, and had Ikeme fit or Enyeama finds a Club and gets back to his Fitness, we wouldn't be having this Discourse.

There is a Crisis in the Goalkeeping Department because of the ineptitude of Alloy Agu. We should be objective to call a Spade what it is, Agu doesn't deserve his present Position at all.

Can someone mention just a Keeper with better Stats than Aiyenugba?! This ain't about promoting the Keeper, rather hoping for the Success of the Eagles in Russia.

Heaven won't fall if Aiyenugba doesn't make the List, also Earth won't crumble if we didn't make it out of the Group Stage. Let's be objective and factual instead of being authoritative with baseless Assertions.

Aiyenugba deserves a look in. Not saying he has anything spectacular to bring to the table. But if those “academy” keepers are given a chance, he should also. Whether he makes the final cut or not it will be beneficial to the other keepers for competition sake.

He is the most active keeper we have.

Sir Tbaba1234...... pls try to be objective on this Keepers Issue. How many Ondoas are in the Team of our Opponents in the Group Stage?!

With the same Ondoa, Super Eagles made it to the World Cup while Cameroonians would be watching in their Homes. We are talking of World Cup, not a Continental Tournament.

Do you really expect Maduka to make the Cut at the Expense of the experienced ones?! Let's be frank here..... we do not need Maduka in the Team. Have we seen him played?!

I'm actually expecting you to be rooting for the Recall of an experienced Keeper in Dele not a Rookie in Maduka. Dudes were mentioning Alampasu, Uzoho, Akpeyi, now Maduka....... and we think we can conquer the World with these Keepers?!

World Cup ain't a Platform to sell Players to better Clubs, it's meant the proven Talents not upcoming Talents.

A video Clip of Dele Aiyenugba's performance in 2016/17

I know about Dele Aiyenugba since his days at Enyimba where he deputised for Enyeama.

He is very good in open play... Also very fantastic with Penalty kicks.

Oga, what you say here changes nothing. Rohr has had his say and that is sticking with players that have been with us from qualifiers so persistently clamouring for Dele's inclusion should only be considered as a typing exercise for your fingers. Uzoho was brought in as a replacement for the injured Ikeme so that changes absolutely nothing. If he could nip at the heels of Akpeyi and/or Ezenwa, he automatically becomes our number 1. Maduka, Dele, Ajiboye, Nwokolor and Ejide should buy supplementary form.

Akpeyi nd co. would not perform better than the so called rookie goalkeeper we have in Europe, let's not decide ourselves these home based keepers lack the fundamentals of goalkeeping! these basics are very crucial.
experience cannot be ignored, but let's be rational it is 2018 no body has respect anymore, a lot of young players are wayyy better than the so called experienced ones...
We cannot compare thier football education, with the rookies keepers with little experience because they have been well educated on the fundamentals of a mordern goalkeeper, and those fundamentals are still lacking in each of our home based keepers. Even if home based keepers sweat blood they would still not be able to cope with top class attackers, we are facing world class attakers in the World Cup and we want to carry Akpeyi?. There's useful and useless experience. akpeyi, echiegile those are useless experience. Mikel, onanistic, balogun musa and ikeme, those are useful experience.
It just takes a chance to know how good a goalkeeper is, and uzoho grabbed it. He will prove himself in the friendlies. He inspires more confidence that any other keeper we have presently.
To think of it I don't think wev ever had a goalkeeper with such excellent distribution like uzohos. That's a modern day goalkeeper.
And isn't this the World Cup where Pele scored at 17, where ozil, muller, James made their name. It's for the best players not the most experienced.
I still don't get how akpeyi gets an invite

Goalkeeping is one area we desperately need to fortify, so I totally agree that he needs to be given a chance to stake his claims. However, I won't lose any sleep about him if Rohr decides to do otherwise. If he's that good, they should have recommended him during the qualifiers.

Can't we make our Points noted without misunderstanding the Poster's Point of View?! Where in my Post did I call for a compulsory Inclusion of Dele in the Team?!

So Rohr is God, hence he's unquestionable and faultless?! I ask just a Question, and no one has answered it yet. Give a Reason why Dele shouldn't be invited?!

Besides, had Enyeama got a Club and returned to full Fitness, are we gonna be saying he shouldn't be called up coz he wasn't part of the Team that qualified us?! I don't wanna toe the Line cos its filthy.

Let's objectively analyze the Department in Crisis. It's left for Rohr to make the final Decision, also It's our Duty as Fans to critiquing the Team and his Handlers basically for Improvement and Success.

Good point! For Joel to make the team, he needs to demonstrate that he's head and shoulders ahead of Ogu, Agu and Etebo. Personally, I will rate him higher than Ogu and Agu; but I don't know if he could show Rohr enough within the limited time remaining to be considered ahead of either Ogu or Agu. Something tells me that Joel might miss out.
