tdayof: How true is it that IEDs being able to be remotely detonated depend on the size of the IED ? Like the bigger the bomb the lesser the chance of being remotely detonated... |

Said it no once that policing secured area in North East has not been managed well by the authorities. Rann recently got attacked and 3 UN workers were killed. Casualties on both sides too. Now tell me, as a relatively safe area with IDPs, how was BHT able to infiltrate? Bokoharam shouldn't be able to attack military outpost /FOB /IDPS in areas where military has control of. |

Xbee007: In every environment where terrorism is rife, there are victims of their radicalization process, we always wear myopic lenses to analyse complex issues, radicalization doesn't necessarily mean they must be muslims to key into their ideology, how about the British, french girls that travelled to Syria just to fvck ISIS fighters, were they all muslims? I agree it is easier to radicalize muslims than Christians but you forgot that it is equally difficult to radicalize educated muslims. The Northern muslims in Nigeria were just ignorant of global terrorism by thinking the insurgence came for their generational christian rivals, if you still recall their initial targets, that I believe was just a gimmick by BHT to gain grounds, hide amongst the population for a while to gain acceptance. Today, they know better, most of the Sheikhs that Blew BHT trumpet few years ago are all dead, from the same BHT, so they have come to the sad realization this is not a religious game, in fact, it might interest you to note that terrorism will likely fester faster where you have divisions and ideological factions, a typical example is Saudi Arabia and Iran, these countries have a homogenous majority muslim population, they are hardly hit by terror because there is little or no crack for terror to feed on, are they not muslims? Cracks, discontentment, tribal differences, etc in your society will breed terror faster than religion. You claimed BHT gained grounds in the NE because of islam, but you quickly forgot that the civilian JTF whose help we solicited to fight them were equally muslims, how do you ratiocinate that? Lastly, look at what Al qaeda from the Sahel is doing to us with Fulani herdsmen, there are irrefutable evidence that Al Qaeda elements are disguising as herdsmen to unleash terror in Nigeria, instead of fighting the terror amongst the herdsmen, we are isolating and condemning our local fulanis in Nigeria, those we have lived peacefully with for decades, that is how terror propagate. That is precisely what Al qaeda wants us to do and we are just playing into their hands. once we start fighting our fulani population, al Qaeda will walk through the dichotomy and propagate, so if we don't embrace our fulani population, we run the risk of having another NE crisis in the NC. Mark my words!! If I see a terrorist, I blame his education first before religion. 5 Likes |

jakeporeshenko: North west was as traumatized as the NE, the only difference is that we allowed the NE to be consolidated as their headquarters while the later was battled away from them, another point you must note is that terror likes ungoverned areas where there is little or no Government and administrative presence. The NE has it more than the NW. 2 Likes |

Nigeria interest in this air defence systems will make her the first user in Africa with Algeria operating older versions. Nigeria is interested in purchasing the same Russian missile defence system recently sold to Iran and Turkey, Nigeria's defence minister revealed. Nigerian military authorities have voiced an official interest in buying advanced S-400 air and missile defence systems from the Russian Federation. Nigeria's efforts to enhance its defensive strategic military capabilities is necessary as the country do not posses a strategic missile defence system. For some years now it has sought to have a long-range missile defence system of its own, as it is currently relying on old Roland air defense systems. |
