Naptu missed Derrick, Cat Eyes, The Investigator. I know a good number of the shows in your list but not all. Olu Jacob's introduction of the 'The Third Eye' was mesmeric. |

Tokziby: Derrick was first shown in the 1990s. Rentaghost is in my list of comedies. The Incredible Hulk wasn't a detective/crime series. |

tbaba1234:That's because NTA had zero maintenance culture and most of the shows of that era was not properly stored, so they are all damaged. I doubt if they can be retrieved from the archives |

The German (Transtel) shows that were shown on Nigerian TV in the 1970s and early 1980s were Telematch, Football Made In Germany and Top of The Pops. Disco Rally was added in the late 1980s. Derrick, a horrible safety and first aid documentary (in which they showed horrible and gory accidents and injuries and showed how to prevent and treat them) and a show about a woman who was from a German royal family, but who lost everything during World War 2 and was trying to survive with her children after the war, were all introduced in the early 1990s. Another German detective show (who's name I will not post because I do not want the anti-spam bot to ban me) about a young german policeman and his girlfriend, was introduced in the mid 1990s. All the shows listed in my 3rd and 4th paragraphs were introduced in the 1990s. |

Please where can one download these shows? Especially famous five. Saw most of them in the 90s thanks to a library/ video club those days in Ibadan, the British council library. They had all of those stuffs. Used to watch them back then. |

naptu2:you didn't put super force. I believe that's where RoboCop idea came from |
Re: 50 Detective Shows That Were Shown On Nigerian Television In The 1970s And '80s by naptu2: 4:03am On Mar 04, 2018 |
femi4: It's the other way around. The first Robocop movie was released in 1987 and I watched it in 1987. Superforce was first shown in the US from 1990-1992. It was first shown in Nigeria in 1992 or 1993. I believe it was inspired by Robocop. Lots of people are listing 1990s shows. The thread is about shows that were shown on Nigerian TV in the 1970s and '80s. |

One other series that was on my mind when I made this list, but which I didn't include because the "criminal" was the hero, was Smugglers (Jack Vincent). I know quite a few girls that crushed on Oliver Tobias. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G28N7_szPi8 |

Wow, you sure really tried researching to get these. Everyone remembers them with nostalgia; The Professionals CI5, sure stands out. I remember Starsky and Hutch, Persuaders, The Avengers, The New Avengers and in the early 90's, Jake and the Fat man. The Nigerian T.V. stations in those days were far advanced and in touch with the latest in the Western world. The irony is that that generation didn't have social media or internet, but they were far advanced and in tune with the latest from the Entertainment world and Western countries. |
