Very true. Agu's chances just went from very slim to much slimmer... Mikel, Ndidi, Onazi are sure bets... the remaining three will likely be Etebo, Ogu, and Joel (if he shows his quality again in the GWG and proves his fitness for the battle ahead)... but shaa let the Friendlies come... we still got 99 days to go.

Cc Joebie... if you look at my comments so far you can even begin piecing together my own list of 23... hahahahahahahahaha... but like I said.. it is still early to say. I wanna see Rohr's provisional list especially in that GK dept.

tbaba1234:

With Joel back, it is even more unlikely.

I'm not in support of dropping any of the six midfielders that will be picked. Having five mid fielders is simply courting trouble

Let us see what will happen in the friendly matches,, that will be the decider.

i thought it was said brown ideye would be invited..seems there was a last minute decision.

I think it is Gabriel Okechukwu that spoils the show for Ideye

Loooolll.... hollup there Sir... it is not goals, goals and goals ooooo.... hahahahahahahahaha...

It is goals and assists...... 8 goals and 9 assists in 23 games for Al Ahly. Cool stats shaa...

Let me help you with your question... Ajayi will not replace any of Ighalo, Iheanacho, Iwobi, VicMoses, S.Moses and A.Musa... you see these six names I just reeled out... they are all Russia-bound. Take it or leave it. But me I know. And time will vindicate this under the condition that they all stay fit and have no injuries to knock them out of the WC.

If Rohr will take Ajayi to the WC ehn... it won't be at the expense of those six guys upfront. It would be at the expense of a midfielder. Meaning Rohr will have to take Five midfielders and Seven Forwards to the mundial if Ajayi must be on the plane if he pulls off near earth-shaking performances in the friendlies.

And I see that as something that may not happen because The players ahead of Ajayi ehn... will make Rohr start him from the bench and Ajayi is not high in quality compared to those six guys upfront. #Fact But he is a consistent performer for Al Ahly and uses his physical attributes to good effects.

In all time will tell.... but don't get your hopes up much on Ajayi. Let him be the one to make us go Wow!!! because I too have watched him play recently and honestly, he will have to do much more to make a strong case to be on that final plane to Russia.

Thank you for the correction on his stats. Didn't look it up before typing. Based my write up on his description on this thread.

I personally don't want the midfield slots reduced to 5, that's just looking for trouble. And I don't think we'll need a new forward for the world cup, maybe post world cup. Ajayi should wait, we have AFCON qualifiers coming up

No sentiments. Rohr would drop whoever is not giving enough. But that’s a big IF.

I PERSONALLY don't see Ajayi breaking into the world cup list no matter what he does at the friendlies. Trust me, Ighalo doesn't score often but he makes it easier for others. And u know the SE, anybody can score

i would have loved to see junior lokosa instead of gabriel okechukwu, but all the same its a good list, this gives us a fair idea of how the team will be...well this is my team for the world cup

Goal keeper
Uzoho
Akpeyi
ezenwa

Defenders
Balogun
ekong
shehu
brian
tyronne
awaziem
elderson(is performances in the forthcoming friendlies will decide is fate)
ola aina
Midfielders
mikel
onazi
etebo
ndidi
joel
ogu
forwards
musa
igahlo
vicmo
iwobi
simon
kelechi

standby
kenneth omeruo
uche agbo

Gabriel was chosen from CHAN. Rohr does not really watch the local league.

Your list is about perfect, there could be 1 or 2 changes.

Ohhh you welcome Sir. And yes... I am with you on the midfield being six. I just feel with those six forwards, our midfield will definitely boast six names. Time will tell shaa. Good to have Ajayi around but I really don't think he will make the train except injuries come in and I really hope not because I want our very best om display in Russia.

Agu should kiss Russia goodbye if he fails to get regular time at Bursaspor.

Modified
Maybe a few players who impress at their clubs between now and before then will make that provisional list of 30. We have 28 players in this list.

Agu is getting regular time at besiktas until the last 2 games he came from the bench, onazi has not come of the bench for the last 3 games for trapzonspor,go and check and see for your self,so if so then why can't you say onazi should forget about the World Cup because he has not been that regular.

And to those who are already ruling out Agu,relax grin ..Rohr has been inviting him for so long now and even prefers him to Ogu when both of them were fit... he definitely sees something special in him....

I think Ogu has gone above Agu in the pecking order after the last two performances.

If Joel impresses, i feel it is a nail in the coffin for Agu's WC dreams.

Loogan:

I disagree! Balogun is our best defender! Ekong is solid, reliable and consistent, therefore he can be counted on, But he still has more work to do before becoming world class.
Balogun if you watched during the qualifiers was arieally better than ekong especially in the Cameroon game, he won almost all his headed duels, ekong is also solid arieally but balogun on form is a beast in the air.
I do not think we have a better interceptor of the ball in defense than Leon, his marking and tackling skills are top level.
People keep complaining about balogun struggling in the Algeria game, we seem to forget ekong was unimpressive in the South Africa game. Balogun is one who with less injuries and more game time would be world class In a year, his performances in the qualifying series cannot be ignored.
. True talk. This might not mean much but Balogun wore a protective mask that day and was also our captain(pressure) so I totally understand if he performed below par during the Algeria match but his class can never ever be doubted. He's very good.

If he gets minutes, it won't be that much.. Rohr already knows his team. There are only few spots for grabs.

Nigeria really dodged a Bullet in Tammy Abraham. When I look back how the whole incident played out, I come to believe more that every disappointment is a blessing in disguise.

Imagine if wasn't arrogant and rude to Nigeria, he would have agreed with that red carpet mentality. Nigeria would have had no choice but to give him a shirt.

With his current form even Pinnick could not have forced him on Rohr.

what was jordan ibe's skills set and that would have made him an asset in eagles?he still plays for Bournemouth doesn't he?

No player is too big for the team. If any player shows he is better and can bring more to the table than a certain player, That player gets the nod. So the question, “who would be dropped for him?” Is not a reasonable question.
