For real Kalu is hustling for a call up. This guy and Simon play in the same team and he constantly outshines him in almost all the matches. His crosses are a beauty to watch. Impact player! Good end product.
I like simon but he's not improving his game. What's more baffling is that if you study very closely Our young talents in Belgian pro league like kalu, bonaventura, onyekuru and olyinka all seem to have a better football IQ than simon.
This simon needs a coach like pochettino or klopp who will work the potential out of him.

I have said this more than a million times on this thread and I reiterate, Simon and Musa ain't no cerebral wingers and won't make my team ahead of better wingers like Onyekuru and Kalu with the excuse that they have good defensive psych.

Everton’s Gylfi Sigurdsson may miss World Cup after damaging knee joint

Everton’s Gylfi Sigurdsson is to see a specialist amid concerns his season has been ended by a knee injury which could also put his World Cup participation in doubt.

The Icelander played the full 90 minutes of the 2-0 win against Brighton at Goodison Park on Saturday but it has emerged he may have damaged ligaments.

Sigurdsson is to have the problem assessed on Monday evening but could be out for the rest of Everton’s campaign, which would throw into doubt his chances of featuring in Iceland’s first World Cup, in Russia this summer.

His brother Olafur Mar Sigurdsson has spoken to Icelandic media and claims the joint of the player’s right knee is damaged. “It is anticipated the 28-year-old Icelandic international could be sidelined for several weeks but it will only be after consulting with the specialist that a definitive time frame will be known,” an Everton statement read.

The £45m club-record signing endured a difficult start to his Everton career having moved from Swansea in the summer as his struggles were matched by the team’s.

Bad news for him and his country, but good news to other teams in the group. He is a very serious threat to any team he plays against. The guy can produce goals and stellar performance when one least expected. He's one of the threat I think we might be overlooking that I'm actually worried about. Nevertheless, I wish him quick recovery because he played a pivotal role in Iceland's first world cup qualification and an important member of the Iceland's squad.

And that's good enough an excuse when he can hardly execute his primary assignment which lies upfront?

As a winger, ur primary assignment is an efficient attacking input followed by defensive contributions which is secondary.

I av bn seeing Gent matches lately because of Esiti, and can tell u Moses hasn't been contributing more defensively to Gent than Kalu. Initially, Moses's fans pride themselves over his unofficial appointment as the free kick taker for Gent, lol, guess who has assumed that mantle now and has been delivering... Your guess is as good as mine and if he wasn't better than Moses, he wouldn't have been assigned that duty after it was strapped off Simon. Just as Moses was once Gent's golden boy, Kalu is their present golden boy and he is highly celebrated by Gent's fans. He is wanted by a host of clubs in the top leagues and I expect him to leave by summer. Until Henry's unfortunate injury, he was the only Nigerian winger better than Kalu amongst the players plying their trade in Belgium.

Stat wise, the likes of Olayinka and Bonaventure have even done better than Moses this season. We need to tell ourselves the truth...

Before the injury, was he as good as Kalu? BTW, how many matches did he even miss because of the injury. Did u know even though Henry onyekuru has been off for much longer time than Simon was, he still has better stats than Simon. Can u beat that?

I've been of the opinion that Africans plying their trade in the top leagues in Europe, most especially the EPL are always and have always been underrated despite their efforts over time. While some have some circumstances that shadows their performances, others are just no given the necessary media attention given to other European teammates of the same team.

See the "Babylonian" attitude that Arsenal fans are showing after Mo Elneny's top performance in the absence of the undisciplined Wilshere for Arsenal on twitter . He was that good and even when as a CMF, he did Wilshere's job. Iwobi too at the middle. Instead he has a record for being remembered for his low times rather than praise him for his efforts at the middle of the park. Leaves one wondering if there isn't an unhealthy bias towards these African players.

If Ndidi were white, Leicester would have started shouting at intervals that his price is above 80-100million in the transfer market. Someone that I consider worthy to wear a Madrid jersey someday just on his performances this season. Saw what he played against Atletico in the UCL then against Griezmann? He wasn't even hyped atall after that match. Not even his coach did that.

Please you must try really hard to convince me that this bias don't exist.

i have never clamoured for any player on this forum and will never do that. Moses is a sure bet for the world cup and have told you why Rohr prefers him. The other players you mentioned will get their chance to shine as well. Let's focus on what we have on ground as per world cup preps.

I agree, I remember musa at our last World Cup outing, I was seriously shocked his ball control was very poor, easily gets dispossessed, he's lucky he has some goal sense(musa was once touted a better talent than mane in about 2013) but no self development.
Simon would dribble everything and then give a hopeless cross, appalling end product. musa and Simon lack the ability thier talent deserves. They are lucky they have more club and international experienced at this stage of thier careers than these out young guns, else musa would have seen the other side of gernot.
Personally I would feel better if a bonaventura or olayinka started ahead of Simon.

Sadiq Umar in Eredivise Team of the week again.. Two weeks in a row..

When I mentioned this guy people were amused because I knew we didn't need Tammy. Based on this potential with all our exciting young strikers I rate him top 3 best.
There's something peculiar about his style of play, the way he uses his body and chest to move the ball when trying to break defensive line is something special, hopefully he keeps the form and gets a look for the next friendlies

If he keeps this form up, he deserves to be called up..at least he can make up the standby list in case of any injury..

He truly offers something different to all the strikers we have now, he would be a real asset..the only problem have always had with him is his decision making, I do hope he has improved in that aspect..

Yes, the pre-Chelsea Mikel was a potential world class playmaker before the taskmaster, Jose Mourinho, rewired him and turned him into a DM "destroyer" grin

Anyway, let's hope that Joel Obi can combine well in the two pivot role with Ndidi. My concern is that, for some reasons, Ndidi doesn't seem to play well with Onazi. I can't put my finger on what the problem is because they are both fantastic players. I would like to see Ndidi-Joel Obi combo next week Friday. Fingers crossed!

i am not convinced on that ... yes mourinho for whatever reason preferred him there and conviced him to start playing there and national team coaches also followed suite..however if i remember his exploits as attacking midfielder in the under 20 championship in Holland and his performance also in the eagles in recent times where he has played as attacking midfielder then i begin to doubt if DM is his best position..i hope he is fully fit in this world cup rest this issue.

at times that a player has played in a particular postion for most of his career and done well there might not necessarily mean that is his best postion eg lothar mathaus at italia 90

Nah, I can't prove that of Skippo Keshi (RIP); but if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck then it must be a duck, right?

And while on that same topic, I can prove that it was it Pa Oni who first turned the Super Eagles camp into a business center prior to Japan-Korea 2002 World Cup. The going rate then was $10,000 per junk player. I personally know how Efe Sodjie made that world cup team.

Yes O pari master but specifically Reuben was mentioned being a clubless player.

I think others are not clubless,so possible they merited it and tell me players that are supposed to make the team.

I remember Elderson Echiejele was dropped due to injury, Obiorah Nwankwo couldn't meet up,Fengor Ogude lost his place due to his performance at afcon 2013,Nosa Igiebor had a woeful afcon 2013,Uche IK lost out due to indiscipline, Sunday Mba after Afcon couldn't reproduced the same form and Brown Ideye had a very woeful performance at confederation cup. These are the member of Afcon 2013 that were dropped.

Outside this Obafemi Martins was recalled but failed to impress,Joel Obi too couldn't meet up cos he was just coming back from injury, also Bright Dike had injury prior to WC

Oh for highest bidder, pls can you prove it.

I am a Moses Simon fan,but it seems this kalu guy is better and outshining him in the team, the guy is becoming constitent, his corner kick, his free kick assist, his pace is something else,he has a hazard style of play, last season he was always comming from the bench, now the guy don collect the right wing for Gent.
