It is just that Simon got into the team first. Many of these other boys are outshining him in Belgium.

Exactly, simon is reaping what he sow in the past now by getting a call up, cos currently he is not the best winger in belgium right now now, u have to call onyekuru, kalu, olayinka and dennis before u can find moses, and i believe simon is most suitable for african football compared to others thats why he got the nod ahead of them, but now its world cup he have to up his game cos there many waiting to snap up that position.

Lol! What do you want me to say

I've stated my position already and it was plain and simple.

Majority of our best players are in England or have at a point in their careers developed there and by saying that Komekn has enough justification to ask for more of our players plying their trades there to be considered for the eagles team, is that a wise decision or not it's a different case entirely.

It's not as if we have players in the other top leagues performing week in week out.

And again, that you're not one of those who runs down the quality of the EPL time and time again doesn't mean others don't, and I can't remember mentioning anyone's name.

And about music, so you've forgotten how Awilo with his Makosa music stormed Nigeria in the early and mid 90s, kids rolling their waists, throwing their hands in the air with excitement to lyrics they don't understand?

All the artists I mentioned earlier take musical tours to Asia, north America and the Scandinavians with very little or no English speaking population and we've seen fans in come out in thousands filling up the venue and you tell me music is geographical and lingual, one of the most popular sing currently on earth is a Spanish song 'Despacito' many of its listeners don't even speak the language.

Since you only listen to a genre of music, I guess it's best we leave things at that.
Let me go listen to the despacito on YouTube. Never heard of it before. I like anything Spanish. Gracias hombre.

Yes, the pre-Chelsea Mikel was a potential world class playmaker before the taskmaster, Jose Mourinho, rewired him and turned him into a DM "destroyer" grin

Anyway, let's hope that Joel Obi can combine well in the two pivot role with Ndidi. My concern is that, for some reasons, Ndidi doesn't seem to play well with Onazi. I can't put my finger on what the problem is because they are both fantastic players. I would like to see Ndidi-Joel Obi combo next week Friday. Fingers crossed!

O pari

I really can't put my finger to it too but I guess it has to do with balance as in since both of them are predominantly right footed they play within the same zone and constrict each with Ndidi being the one who is more constricted. A left footed midfielder expands the zone of play by expanding the game in the direction of the left side of the pitch. And this brings balance and space which allows Ndidi's game to flow. I wont be surprised to see him blend with Joel cos Joel like Ogu is left footed. This is just my amateurish analysis sha.

You are right in your assertions Sir Chris. But the likes of Kalu, Bonaventure and Olayinka are most likely to be considered Post-Russia. I recall that on this thread many many many pages ago, Sir Tbaba and I even brought up this lad Samuel Kalu. We both felt he should be given an invite as he was really tearing things up in Belgium. I believe his time in the GWG is not far off.... and with him (Kalu), Henry Onyekuru, Olayinka et al, Moses Simon is gonna be given a real run for his place in the team. But let's not forget that for now, Moses Simon has been impressive in the GWG in his last few games starting from the game against Cameroun in Uyo.

So for now, Simon edges only because he got in ahead of the others into the Eagles team. But with time, the others will be given their chances no doubt as they surely have outshone Simon this season by far.

ChrisKels:

And that's good enough an excuse when he can hardly execute his primary assignment which lies upfront?

As a winger, ur primary assignment is an efficient attacking input followed by defensive contributions which is secondary.

I av bn seeing Gent matches lately because of Esiti, and can tell u Moses hasn't been contributing more defensively to Gent than Kalu. Initially, Moses's fans pride themselves over his unofficial appointment as the free kick taker for Gent, lol, guess who has assumed that mantle now and has been delivering... Your guess is as good as mine and if he wasn't better than Moses, he wouldn't have been assigned that duty after it was strapped off Simon. Just as Moses was once Gent's golden boy, Kalu is their present golden boy and he is highly celebrated by Gent's fans. He is wanted by a host of clubs in the top leagues and I expect him to leave by summer. Until Henry's unfortunate injury, he was the only Nigerian winger better than Kalu amongst the players plying their trade in Belgium.

Stat wise, the likes of Olayinka and Bonaventure have even done better than Moses this season. We need to tell ourselves the truth...

Rohr Names The Two Goalkeepers That Won't Make World Cup Squad

Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has strongly hinted that Plateau United netminder Dele Ajiboye and Feirense starlet Dele Alampasu will not be included on the 23-man roster for the 2018 World Cup.
The German argued that Alampasu is inactive at his Portuguese club while Ajiboye has not been selected in the latest squad because he was given the chance to displace Ikechukwu Ezenwa as the number one goalkeeper in the African Nations Championship team and could not do so.

''They had already their chance, remember that we invited Dele [Ajiboye]. Dele is no. 2 in CHAN team and it'd be surprising that he is no. 1 and Ezenwa no. 2 in the Super Eagles ,'' Rohr was quoted as saying by Goal.com.

''Alampasu, unfortunately, is never playing. You cannot take a goalkeeper who is never playing

''Uzoho made his debut for Nigeria against Argentina and did very well. He plays for the second team of La Coruna; we could see him [at the World Cup].

"Ezenwa was injured but he is returning gradually and he's played with the second team at his club already. We'll see who will be the fittest.''

Former U17 World Cup winner Dele Alampasu has not played a league game in Portugal since April 30, 2017 when he went the full ninety in Cesarense's 3-0 loss at águeda.

Rohr Not intimidated By Messi: He Is One Of The Best Players But We Are Not Scared

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has declared that the Super Eagles will not be intimidated when they clash with two-time world champions Argentina and Lionel Messi at the 2018 World Cup.

The Barcelona superstar has already faced Nigeria twice in Fifa's showpiece event, at South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014, where he netted a brace in his team's 3-2 win at Estádio Beira-Rio.

''We know he’s (Messi) one of the best players in the world but we are not worried about anybody because we have a good team,'' Rohr told The Punch.
''The game against Argentina will be a tough one and it will be very interesting going into the group’s last games.

''Perhaps we don’t have players we had in the 1990s, when only one player could make the difference.

''But now, we have a young team playing good and quality football, not only one or two quality players who can make the difference.''

Nigeria will face off with Argentina in both countries last Group D fixture at Krestovsky Stadium, Saint Petersburg on June 26, 2018.

Ndidi, Iheanacho Set For Spain Trip With Leicester Team Ahead Chelsea FA Cup Game

Nigerian duo of Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho will be traveling to Spain with the rest of their Leicester City teammates on Tuesday for a four-day training camp ahead of an FA Cup clash against Chelsea on Sunday, March 18.

Leicester City manager Claude Puel believes the warm weather camping in Southern Spain will be the tonic his team need to face the might of Antonio Conte's Chelsea in their quarter finals game with the Blues.

Leicester head into the mini break buoyed by the 4-1 win over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday in which Iheanacho scored and created an assist for one of the goals.

“It’s a good opportunity for the squad to spend some time together and to make sure we are well prepared both for next weekend’s game and for the final eight Premier League matches of the season,” Puel told the club's website, www.lcfc.com.

“It’s a long season, which can be difficult for the body and the mind, so a different setting, some time together as a squad and a good focus on our work will be good for everybody.

“We want to finish the season in the best way possible and good preparation together is very important to give us the best chance,” Puel stressed.

The Foxes overcame Sheffield United 1-0 in the fifth round of the FA Cup in February.

Leicester are currently eighth in the Premier League after their win over the weekend took their points' haul to 40 n 30 games.

You see why I said from the 5 not all will be given a chance in the friendlies and would be dropped without being tested.

Technically a wise decision to focus only the 3 goalkeepers going to the WC.

Actually, it wasn't just Reuben alone. We can excuse him if he had fumbled on only one or two players, but Keshi fumbled on:

Michael Uchebo
Shola Ameobi
Ejike Uzoenyi
Kunle Odunlami
Ramon Azeez
Uche Nwofor

And I can go on and on. So it wasn't just one player. The entire bench was useless - sold to the highest bidder.
