[how come getting PGD admission with 2nd class lower is hard.. Are you saying most people that got their admission for PGD are mostly 2nd class upper graduate ?? quote author=jnyuwa02 post=65852327] True, even getting into a 2 year diploma is hard with second class lower. With the diploma course gotten, try and craft a winning SOP. Concentrate on showing why Diploma in your personal circumstance offers better opportunity than masters. This is doable if you are going for an area that requires niche specialization and vocational training.[/quote] |

Asapant: It is what it is. The cut off for a masters in Canadian universities for Nigerian students, is a second class upper. Anyone lower than a second class upper is turned down or admitted on an exceptional circumstance consideration. The exceptional circumstance usually means you have more than 6 years working experience in the intended field of interest. Most student with lower than second class upper end up in PGD. But I have seen first class students too applying for PGD. Most of these first class who do that are either interested in the specialization and vocational training that PGD offers or have no idea what they are doing. 1 Like 2 Shares |

Frankrobbn1, Thank you for your response/advise. Thank you to all that responded to my concerns. In my SOP I actually gave reasons for the change in career and the benefits of the course of study. I am not really looking at option-1 because the VO may say if I wanted Chemistry why did I not go for chemistry from the onset, why changing course after 2 refusals, that's myown thoughts anyway. However I dont know if they feel career progression is only when you further studies related to your first degree. Is there any harm to apply for the same course the third time? What does personal circumstances mean? what does one use to show ties to his country? Frankrobbn1: |

chigrad:chigrad, Changing a program inorder to address the concerns of a visa officer and meet the legislative requirement for a study permit is not a crime and does not in any way sound desperation as you think. If this is your fear and you feel this route will be easier for you to address the concerns of your previous refused application, Please go ahead and change your program, as it won't affect your visa application. Career progression mustn't be when you further studies related to your first degree, if you have been following a career progression since you left university this is not a problem. As I said earlier, people have deviated/changed their academic/career pursuit and still got approved because of the way they presented their case to the visa officer. You need to certify that visa officer that you're a bona-fide student and you're applying in good faith, let them know the value/experience you have gained during your 3 years business adventure and why you are furthering your education higher level in business. This is more understandable. Personal circumstances from my own perspective, simply means applicant personal reasons for undertaking such program in Canada. Below are home ties , so if you have any of the following listed, endeavor to show evidence to them and make sure you add it to your application. 1-) Do you have a spouse and kids(minors) and are you leaving them behind? 2-) Do you have elderly parents who depend on you? (Explain why you will coming back to them) 3-) Do you own businesses/property/investment that you need to continue managing? (Provide proof) 4-) Do you have adequate funds? (Show proof) 5-) Do you have family members whom are not accompanying you to Canada? (Add their birth certificates) All the best! 1 Like |

Good day to you all, trust you guys are doing great? I mailed the following question to a college in Canada: Hello, my name is Charles I wish to ask the following question; Do your school accept students from Nigeria with 3.0 CGPA who wish to undergo a Diploma Course in there? Thanks And got the following response: Hi, Thanks for your interest in Seneca College. As long as you have more than 65% in overall it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks and good luck! What do they really mean? |
