I can't agree less.. How many shots on goal did Ighalo get ?

For the Serbia game, the coach should go back to how we played Argentina up front, start Iwobi as the leading striker, Mosses and Iheanacho as supporting strikers. And at the break substitute Iwobi for Ajayi. I love Ighalo's strength and determination, but with the type of game him and Moses plays, it affects the free flowing game, the rest of the team played when they beat Argentina.

Moses will never cooperate. Too selfish! More concerned about how he looks than how the team looks. World cup is almost here. Nobody should scream moses is selfish then O! Una dey see now, una still dey smile because its friendlies, he is gettin away with selfishness now. If i hear any noise I will call out names.

That cheekbone structure and his eye sockets sell him away. But since its not a trivial issue, we all just wanna focus on the team's success. But as for me, no one can convince me on this again.

Good to see how we play without Mikel. No one is totally indispensable.
yeah... Let's focus on that... Hope to see him improve on his performance.. I'll pick him over ezenwa everyday.. And this is not a knee jerk reaction... How he deals with aerial balls and crosses, ticks it for me... Just imagine ezenwa against Algeria flapping at high balls.... My opinion though.

Oga, the Croatia team I saw last night cannot defeat the current Super Eagles team. I stayed up late just to watch Croatia vs Peru game (for some reasons, BeinSport started the game at 10pm), but I still stayed glued to the TV. What I saw last night did not impress me at all. If they play the same way against us, then be rest assured that we'll beat them soundly. Mark my words!

Agreed without question.

National team call up may give you exposure but you must perform. Otherwise Nuttin 4 U.

That's why the basis of call up MUST be, all things being equal club performance matched against quality of league and club

Moses as a second striker hmmm interesting....
And what if you replace Idowu with Simeon (RWB)?? To
ginger the attack from the other side

Can simeon cope with the demands of a RWB?

Is he ready to track back when the need arises and as frequently as possible?

It's going to be a really challenging role for him
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 7:31pm On Mar 26, 2018
Good observation
MetalJigsaw:
I think it's better if Ekong is at the center because of his positioning, concentration and vigilance. It you rewatch the Argentina and Poland games you'll see that most of the crosses that were made into our box, Ekong was always there to head them away. And he blocks a lot of shots too- quick shots that could beat Uzoho and into the net. And he's very agile more, than Balogun.

Uzoho needs a very vigilant and focused CB in front of him for obvious reason.

Balogun loses concentration sometimes and that's what caused the controversy about the Poles's claim for a goal.

As the ball bounced onto his chest he wasn't quickly aware as it come to him. It took some seconds to clear the ball which is already heading to the net.

True and he dived the other day. Still he is a danger in the box. He should be cautioned though.

Na so bro, too many emotional comments filled with ethnic and sentimental vibes. Many on this thread are fond of this habit.

To me, both can't replace Mikel or deputize him and as matr said, Aluko is not even a midfielder and Nwakali is not outstanding enough to boss the midfield when it comes to serious business.

Kog45:
I love your question.I think we had this discussion yesterday based on Mikel Agu late call and metaljigsaw said why when we have Ndidi,Onazi,Joel,Ogu,Etebo, and Agbo even Agbo continue invitation has a question mark.

Humility017 and metaljigsaw believe what we need now is AM cos it was evident against Poland and they are right but the question is do we have one.

I came up with Sone Aluko and Kekechi Nwakili but some came hard on me said why Aluko?but didn't question why Nwakili Kelechi.

The issue here is simple we are too sentimental and emotional in our response to issues and we often forget that we are talking football.

I now realized mentioning name Aluko is not the issue or his quality is questionable but some see it as a way to hit back at some monikers, that's not analysis.

If we are questioning clamouring for Aluko then why are we trying to justify Chiedebere Nwakili invitation for Algeria and Argentina match, pls on what ground.

I made my recommendation and i said Aluko and Kelechi,Humility017 thumb me up on Kelechi Nwakili and forgiveness said why Kelechi Nwakili who is now playing in dutch 2nd tier.

I think Aluko would fit in just like Joel Obi cos he once a member of the team right from U20 and Nwakili is a young lad with great talent and see him as a future replacement for Mikel.

Major issue here we leave football analysis to settle personal scores which is not good for this thread.

Nice idea. Simon is pretty supportive defensively as well.

It would be great...

You know why I liked that SS position you put Moses?

Moses is a very slippery player. He is very difficult to mark out. His intelligent dribbling and dazzling runs is always a nightmare for defenders... And he's a goal threat too.

This is one thing Iheancho doesn't have. This is what is behind his struggling to link himself from the defence to attack at times.
He is most of the time very predictable.

Let's not forget how he sneeked into the center to score against Arsenal at the Super Cup. He has a free role with SE, but he needs to pass the ball more. Very slippery indeed and can cause harvoc in the box.

Iheanacho has a thing for good placement of the ball, and can react quickest in the box. Different strengths.

He has done it once before. Rohr only needs to give him the instruction. Our attack will flow from both wings.

I am not saying he should be a permanent RWB. Just for another try.

Hey guys, I know this is the super eagles thread, but since this is the thread with all the soccer major weight on nairaland, I was wondering does anyone have an update concerning Super Falcons friendly with France ? I heard some of the ladies invited are backing out because NFF's usual shoddy preparations.

What do you guys think ? We have the chance to be a super soccer juggernaut in both world male and female competition and NFF is only focusing on the male team.

In this day and age of Feminism, #metoo and woman empowerment, not fully supporting the Super Falcon is simply bad business, I bet a lot more brands are willing to put Asisat Oshoola's face with the new Nigerian Jersey than Mikel Obi's on their adverts and products.
. Who freaking cares?? Some two years ago when the NFF were as bad as they could get, nobody complained about feminism. Now that the NFF have managed to recuperate and are trying very hard I must say,to revive Nigerian football and take it to the optimum level, all of a sudden some are quick to judge, calling them anti feminists who don't wanna develop female football. They want to milk them as much as possible now that the going is good. How would you feel breastfeeding new born twins at the same time? You just won't keep up. Highest, you'll make sure one is well fed before the other starts. That's just life.

My heart sternly yearns for Nigerian female football improvement and I definitely wanna see Oshoala,Oparanozie,Ordega,Omidji,Orji play again(especially Omidji who I haven't seen play yet) but they should understand that the NFF itself is still a work in progress and that very soon, these talks will be over and the light will shine bright on both sides of our national football cool cool

I am sorry to disagree with all of you, his review is spot on, Nacho was a flop, we still need to see more of Ebuehi to ascertain his better than shehu, though I know he will pass.

for Leon He was a little harsh on him but Leon has not been that good, we close our eyes to it, troost was doing all the interception and Leon was out of position, a moniker even said Leon played in the LB and another said we played a 352 formation. I know his fan favourite but he was obviously not at par with Ekong
. Oga,Balogun played well for us on that day. What do you want the guy to do? Kill himself before you notice his works. If you've been following up on his case, you'll see that the Balogun we saw against Poland was different from the one we saw against Algeria. So much improvement. It's performances like that, that got him invited in the first place. Ostensibly, the formation prior kick off stated him as a LB but that wasn't what happened. He played in his normal position

So should we all agree that Leo Messi is the Greatest Of All Time (G-O-A-T)?

I mean, Messi is the greatest ever, with or without the World Cup. I haven't seen enough of Di Stéfano or Eusebio, so there's some doubt there. But having watched a lot of Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, Best and Beckenbauer, there's been no greater, more consistent force on the pitch during the toughest of defensive conditions than Messi. That's what separates him. Pele actually floated in a lot of big games, got fairly easily dispossessed on the attack, and became frustrated by tight, physical marking. Hope I don't get struck down for that bit of blasphemy grin

Maradona had moments of the most electric brilliance of all time, but when the Ferrari engine wasn't running on peak form he could also easily fade out of matches. Messi brings all the attributes together that you could want and he is the most intelligent at breaking down difficult modern defenses. Guys set your DVRs now and make sure you record every action because there surely will never be another like him; where the mental and physical attributes come together and put on the incredible display of football year after year.

let me educate you a little...
dude never rejects Nigeria call up for obvious reasons you claim...he did so citing reasons that he is not there yet..and there are areas he still need to work on....

shortly afterwards his dad talked wit the nff on his behalf...giving the assurance that the next time he will be called upon he will gladly honor the invitation...which the lad did...
