Interesting angle. Thanks for this brief Exposé. wink

Mujtahida:

It's been said that Escobar's death might have been for non footballing reasons or rather the own goal was not the primary reason he was killed. It's a known fact that Escobar was deeply involved with the notorious drug baron Pablo Escobar. The drug Lord was a mad football fan(even invited Maradona to come play for him in his personally built La Catedral prison which had a football pitch and handsomely Diego was handsomely rewarded) but he was using football clubs in Colombia as a front to launder money for his cartel. He also had many vicious enemies. The footballer was his good friend. So some people think Escobar was caught in the crossfire.

Four Four two magazine has an interesting article titled: Narcos: When Pablo Escobar did football – and changed the game in Colombia forever

Narcos is an ongoing Netflix drama series about Pablo Escobar. I find drug barons interesting and certainly Pablo Escobar was one of the most interesting and mysterious characters

Very simple point. Iheanacho was not brought to lead the line. It is ridiculous to suggest so. Iheanacho is a future asset of the club, that was why there was even the talk of a buy back clause in the future. No one in the Board ever thought of Nacho keeping Vardy on the bench. Not even you trying to sell the false idea.

You are muddying the waters, is that what u said Or you assumed I said that.

Vardy is first choice and getting a replacement was never on the cards. However, getting a complimentary striker a big YES,YES, YES

So you really believe that Leicester City with thier limited resources spent £25 million on a future asset.

Because they have so many top quality strikers firing on all cylinders like Slimani and Uloa at the time.

Post Russia, during the ANC qualifiers Rohr should start blooding in some youngsters to take over the mantle from Mikel Obi. It's very annoying that whenever he ain't there, the creative part of our game becomes almost non-existent.

I will love to see us giving the likes of KC Nwakali, Ejaria, Azubuike, Sokari, Kehinde, Onomah et al opportunities

Mikel is replaceable only when the fans realise, every player is different, we had this issue when Okocha retired, even the glorified Mikel struggled because we wanted to see another okocha.

There is only hope for those people you listed to be added to the team not replace ighalo or Nacho, for obvious reason... I still maintain that we already have 95% of our team
Yes you are right but i based my assessment on Musa leading the attack instead of Ighalo,is a signal that he wasn't satisfied with their performance especially Ighalo against Poland or what do you think.

Exactly!!! We are not looking for another Mikel but simply another Midfield General and Game dictator that will bring his own distinct style of doing so.

Okocha's style was different. Mikel's style was also different and the fans grew to accept that with time because initially, they were all expecting the fancy Okocha footwork every damn time Mikel had the ball.

After Mikel, another General will arise. He will step in and he is already among us. Most Possibly among those youngsters listed by Chriskels or already in the Super Eagles fold. Time will tell. Believe me, I have no fears whatsoever concerning the Post-Mikel era. We just have to start blooding in the available top talents in his position post-Russia.

We all recognized Mikel as Okocha’s successor. There was no doubt about that.

Reading payed £7 million for him.

He chose not to renew his contract it's a play on words. Wanted to work with a forward thinking manager and club that plays good technical football.

This is quite a common occurrence in the EPL players dropping a division for more money or better prospects and progression.

Yes and that is because we had the firepower upfront and a solid midfield base of Sank Kaita and Ajilore. One a ball winner and the other a ball distributor. Isaac Promise acted as the team's pseudo-10 just driving forward from the no.10 position and was also the team's SS in a 4-4-2. We utilised the power of our wing plays (remember Chibuzor Okonkwo from LB role who stood in for Taiwo) and the lethal nature of our attack having Chinedu Obasi, Victor Anichebe, and Solomon Okoronkwo. Add Mikel to that team and we surely would have beaten that Argentine team in the final.

Pinnick, Akinwunmi, Sanusi visit Ikeme in hospital

The Super Eagles are heading to the FIFA World Cup finals in Russia this summer, but the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation and the team itself have not forgotten one man who toiled for the squad in the early rounds of the qualifying campaign but is now sidelined by illness.

Carl Ikeme became the Super Eagles’ number one man between the pipes months before the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup preliminary fixture against Swaziland and the first match of the group phase against Zambia in Ndola. He kept goal in those three matches. But nine months ago, he was diagnosed with acute leukemia after returning “abnormal blood tests” during pre-season testing at English club Wolverhampton Wanderers and had to undergo chemotherapy.

On Monday, 26th March 2018, as the Super Eagles got into their paces ahead of Tuesday’s pre-Russia 2018 World Cup friendly against Serbia in London, President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick led a delegation of NFF chieftains and team staff to visit the imposing goal –minder at The Christie Clinic in Manchester, where he is being treated.

In the delegation also were NFF 1st Vice President, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, Super Eagles’ Team Administrator, Dayo Enebi, Eagles’ goalkeepers’ trainer Alloy Agu and team media officer, Toyin Ibitoye.

Pinnick said: “We have come on behalf of the Government of Nigeria and the NFF to check up on you, find out how your recovery is going and to tell you that you are still very much on our minds and a member of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

“We have also come to seek your permission to be our special guest at the pre- World Cup friendly game against England at the Wembley Stadium on 2nd June. We want you to perform the customary kick-off of that game and if you approve of it, we will immediately request this of The Football Association.”

The NFF supremo further assured the goalkeeper that he would be fully captured in the team’s financial benefits for Nigeria’s qualification for the FIFA World Cup “as we all remember the role you played in helping us get off to a winning start in the final phase of qualifiers in Ndola against Zambia.

“We believe this is just a phase that will pass away. You will come out of it stronger and still be able to do what you love to do the best, both for your club and the Super Eagles of Nigeria.”

Team Administrator, Dayo Enebi, said: “On behalf of the team, we want to reassure you of our love. The entire team would have been here to see you if we were not playing against Serbia. Coach Gernot Rohr, the technical and backroom staff are all praying for your speedy recovery. The team asked that I present this autographed jersey, signed by all the players, to you. It is our new kit for the World Cup.”

Ikeme’s immediate boss in the Super Eagles, Alloy Agu, had this to say: “As your goalkeeper coach in the national team, I know you are a fighter, you never give up. I believe these attributes will see you through. We will always be there for you as you recover from this illness.”

An ecstatic Ikeme, moved by all the kind words, responded: “I am so overwhelmed by this show of love. I am indeed grateful to Nigerians who daily flood my phone with prayers and well wishes. I feel their love everywhere, everyday, on social media. I thank the Government of Nigeria and the NFF for all the support and I appreciate my teammates so much for being there for me.”

Do you know that among all our forwads he's the only one bereft of such ability?.

Iwobi can dribble, Moses, S. Moses, even Ighalo.

Musa really doesn't but he makes it up with his power-bike speed

Now it is can not dribble. First, Nacho is not fast. Proven fake. Then a tap in merchant. Proven wrong. Then can not trap ball, proven wrong. Now he can not dribble.

Funny.

Nacho spends more time on the pitch causing problems with his pressing and off the ball movement than to be doing dribbles. You do not get to that height in football if you can not dribble.

As I said before, Rohr has indices for every decision he makes. Not this person dribble and this one did not.

Agu replaced Milkel Obi on two occasions, Onazi once and played a full match if I am right. On those occasions, he came in as a DMF and not as AMF or CMF, and we never conceded a goal nor lost a match. But Ndidi flopped in the first 2 matches he played and in the match against South African.

I saw those matches with my two koro koro eyes and I can say the lad is improving as he plays for the Eagles.

Did I mention Nacho?

Statistically speaking Mikel Agu is better than Ndidi. grin

No bi me do the statistics oooo. You can confirm from whoscored before angry fellows begin to descend on me ooooo. grin

Well, maybe he is not better than anyone for now but He doesn't tantamount to a rubbish player. That is my point.

We found Tyron Ebuehi, Ola Aina and Brown Idowu and that is a big competition, it is no confusion. It is a competition and that is very fare”, he told Omasports.com

Against Poland, Brian Idowu did very well, he plays in Russia which could be a big advantage for him. Ola Aina is doing very well in Hull city. We also have Elderson Echiejile, a very good experienced player. So it will be a difficult choice for us but the coach is happy when he has more”. -- Rohr

Nice post. The part Rohr says he is never confused is what I am pointing out. Rohr has technical insight in the way he selects his players. It is not guess work.

By the way, one of our key strength in nullifying the Poles was our insane pressing. So as many are critical about the forward line in doing some things wrong, they scored a big plus in their pressing, including Iwobi.
